Honestly, same, which is why I searched for reassurance that Colorado still plans to mail those ballots out as usual.
They do. Mailing date = Oct 2, and I'll look for the BallotTrax email telling me they've been mailed, and if they don't arrive in a couple days after that, I'm going down to the County Clerk Elections Division office to request that a replacement for mine and my husband's be printed and put in my hand.
Obviously not an option for everyone, but that's my plan.

#FountainPens #FountainPenInks
Playing with a pen from that classic Sheaffer calligraphy kit that no less than three well-meaning adults gifted me through my childhood.
Looking for online guides to help me stretch beyond vague memories of Sheaffer's Italics worksheet.
Finding a bunch of paid courses and "free guide, just give us your email address!" *sigh*
Turns out, I'm getting better results searching free font repositories for calligraphic fonts, and typing out the text I want to imitate.

And there IS a No Kings: Vote Early event in Boulder on 10/17!
https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/1024739/
"Bring your completed 2026 ballot and a sign expressing Vote Early/Save Voting Rights/Count Every Vote, etc to the Bandshell at Canyon and Broadway in downtown Boulder. ... We’ll go in waves from the Bandshell area to the nearby voting dropbox at the old County Courthouse on 13th and Pearl Streets."

Meanwhile, I'm participating in BLUE WAVE POSTCARDS' current drive to get voters registered to vote absentee in Arizona!
https://shop.bluewavepostcards.org/pages/write-postcards
You order a bunch of postcards and, if you need them, a corresponding bunch of stamps. You get a bunch of address stickers to put on those postcards and a clear, proven message to write on those postcards!
If you're here in Boulder County or thereabouts, you can pick up your package of postcards at one of a handful of local pick-up locations!

I just double-checked that my registration is active.
I went to vote.gov, entered Colorado, and was redirected to Colorado's election website, https://www.sos.state.co.us/voter/pages/pub/olvr/findVoterReg.xhtml to check my registration.
And yes! It is active!

Here in Boulder County, ballots get mailed out on OCTOBER 2.
Vote yours the MOMENT it shows up, and, if you are able, bring it to an OFFICIAL DROP-BOX! Save yourself a stamp, and save yourself the anxiety of wondering if they're gonna get there in time.

"I also would really love for those stories to feature groups of people who stand up to the oppressors, rather than just one tough guy."
I just reread Robert Jackson Bennett's THE TAINTED CUP and realized it's a metafictional rebuke to that one tough guy.
(Even before 2020 I was wary of that noir-adjacent cynicism that lionizes the tough guy cop who bins the rules and just guns down the bad guy in an empty field because the system's too corrupt to get justice any other way.)

Today's #MorningPages feature the sadly discontinued Sheaffer Agio topped up with Fountain Pen Revolution "Cosmic Pink". You can _just_ make out some glitter on the paper towel I blotted things up with, but very little on the page.
On the subject of Sheaffer, their converter leaks in both my Agio and in one of their old calligraphy pens. The seal between converter and feed isn't tight. Is this something silicone gel would help with? Advice sought!

Topped up the cheap-o "Splash" pen with Fountain Pen Revolution "Galaxy Blue". Again, seeing little evidence of shimmer in either the writing or in the swatch smear, but it's a pleasant color and it doesn't seem to clog my pen.
I'm actually submitting stories both new and old to paying markets again. That feels good. But today I need to hunker down on #RollerDerby recruiting committee stuff and household finances.

The Pen of the Day was... a J. Herbin demonstrator. Very short. Features that notorious "Iridium Point" nib which writes OK once you get it started but needs licking to get it (re)started. (Dabbling a drop of my tea off my finger onto the nib works too.)
The Ink of the Day was... Diamine "Chocolate"
The Tea of the Day was... Vadham's "Fennel Chai" as I work my way through the last of an advent calendar of samples.

Filled my cheap-o drugstore "Splash" pen with FPR Royal Flush, hoping for a thicker, wetter line that would better show off the shimmer, but I'm still not seeing it. It's a nice blue, though, halfway between the pilot iroshizuku "asa-gao" and "ama-iro".

My first #MorningPages using the FPR Darjeeling EF and one of the inks that came in yesterday. Gilded Ivy's shimmer effect isn't noticeable at such a fine, light stroke, but the pen did not clog a single time through the whole three pages. (Yes, I shook up the bottle!)
In other news, just before dawn with a just-past-full moon in the west is pretty much the perfect setting for Rush's "Available Light," which is possibly a perfect song already.

There is a new flash fiction publisher, "Science Fiction Weekly," which purports to host late lamented Daily Science Fiction's archive of stories "with author consent"...
...I only just heard about them today. They have republished my story, "The Rarest of Prey," without contacting me, asking my permission, let alone paying me a token reprint fee.

Ink: A mixture of Graf von Faber-Castell's "moss green" and J. Herbin's "vert pré".

A reminder, possibly just to myself:
It's reasonable to hope to not have to think about Trump after today.
It is NOT reasonable to hope to not have to think about politics after today.
Politics happens year-round, at every level from dog-catcher on up, and to all of us on a personal level.
We don't get a better world by showing up for one ballot every 4 years.
We get it by doing the hard, GOOD work every day.
And that's what I dang well pledge to do.

It absolutely FLOORS me that anyone (Sen. Moreno) could seriously believe that women over 50 don't care about abortion rights.
The Roe vs. Wade decision was made in 1973.
Any woman who was BORN in 1973, let alone old enough to be politically conscious at that time, is over 50.
Women who fought for the right to abortion and saw that first victory are over 50. And when Dobbs came down, they said "Oh HELL no" and got RIGHT back to work.

Happy surprise new #FountainPen day!
Was out flyering with my #RollerDerby home team, getting the word out about the Sept 21 BEAST BRAWL (3 B-team round robin + home team champs game, come see us at the Boulder County Fairgrounds Exhibition Building!) when we happened upon Wolf + Wren's new location on Main St.
I now own a new Pilot kaküno, a pack of purple Pilot cartridges, and a Pilot converter.
NO REGRETS!!!
