To be fair, right now this is something I can still do within the corporate agreement I have with my employer. If I'm unsuccessful in continuing to advocate for 3rd party app stores, I could face a situation where I "have to" uninstall because I can't continue to use the fdroid store.
Not everyone has complete freedom of choice in which app stores they use.

My wife shifted recent interviews to in-person for this exact reason.
They had multiple candidates give literally the exact same responses, then verified by pumping their questions into an LLM.
If you're going to cheat, don't be shit at it.

What's a panama?
I don't recall the invasion of Panama, but I did work with a retired airborne scout sniper years later that was deployed in Central America at the time. Still wouldn't talk about it. For reasons.
It's really painful to discover all the propaganda we've ingested in our lives.

You're absolutely correct about the class/tech snobbery, as a reformed snob myself.
While it's *intellectually* useful to have an open platform, we have to ask ourselves how that freedom is used to help? Is it? Or is it mostly used to absolve ourselves of responsibility?
At the same time it's also worth noting that a vertically integrated platform is not inherently more secure.
It's also absolutely wild how the intersection of "pay me more" (a la carte) streaming and cable and greed is exactly what pushes this kind of crap directly to, say, retired folk. This isn't the first time someone's asked me: are these even legal? (Answer: sort of, not really, it's a loophole they'll close eventually)

I think this concept has some merit; presumably not the only factor but feels like there's something worth considering here.
Is it the difference in seeing the space only as a place to make money vs seeing problems to solve? Actually giving a shit about the *people* and the outcomes?

And it's not even "Mercury" the way that is being described.
Mercury compounds aren't mercury.
Dihydrogen monoxide isn't hydrogen. It isn't oxygen. It's water.

Welp. I guess LA just joined the "wreckage" of Portland. They never did rebuild after the destruction of BLM.
(Because there wasn't any significant destruction.)
(Because Portland is fine.)
(Because they're lying to us.)

I'm 48. And I spent 9 years maintaining mostly COBOL. Restrictive and preceptive, definitely. But oh, the tricks you would learn from the elders who taught you the eldritch arts!
Some days in infosec though, I dream of riches going back to COBOL. Stress might be a wash.

In this case, are there options for automation enthusiasts that want to incorporate these things but not undermine such a critical public good?
