I live in a little shed-house in the Aussie bush with my daughter, my Dalmatian, 3 hens, a fluffy rooster and probably more reptiles than most people are comfortable with. I’m a recovering professional musician, with a foot in the door of an academic career asking too many questions about why people people. Like, the guy who marked my proposal assignment all but explicitly confessed in my Turnitin comments that he hadn’t the foggiest what I was on about & clearly went to zero effort to follow my citation trail to find out if I was right to AT LEAST highlight outrageous data ethics/imbalance holes + the most obvious ever “someone’s getting paid” biased conjecture by sysreview authors goin’ “hey this ML model looks promising!” (at the risk of sounding a bit paranoid).

Can’t tell you how much of a relief it is that SOMEONE sees that. My uni are just weirded-out by why a “3rd yr” (nobody notices my huge transcript) is using topic-flexible assignments to raise the alarm. My email to a lecturer from the AI/ML labs about a collab to develop a mutually-beneficial proposal got flat-out ignored. The 1 techy psych researcher in my own camp is a fan, but he’s so worn out by trying to do exciting stuff & getting crickets that he’s Eeyore.

Something bit me on the pinky an hour ago when I was trimming a plant. It REALLY hurt for a second. I threw the handful of foliage I’d been holding & looked at my finger. No bite mark, no embedded sting or fangs, no insect, no swelling or ongoing pain. I gingerly poked around for the culprit, but it had made itself scarce. It obviously wasn’t big & black or I’d have seen it, so I wasn’t inclined to call 000. It’s been an hour & I’m not dead or vomiting or sweating or anything…. *shrug* ONWARDS!
