~$9 electric bill this month. That's with 1 EV as well. Loving #solar

I flew a #meshtastic node on a kite (I'm not the first) and I was able to talk to someone, apparently directly, ~63 miles away... That's awesome.

I can’t say how good the info is for that particular area but Happy Cow has been super useful for finding places near me.

Got it. So, “nothing”.
I think that’s informative for everyone reading your comments here. It provides quite a lot of context.

You misunderstand.
I’ll match the amount you personally put up for gas stations to go toward EV infra.
It’s sarcasm, you see. Because you’re being obtuse.
Never did get an answer on your alternatives. Is it that you don’t think climate change is a problem? All I’ve seen you do is say no in this thread. What ought to be next, in your assessment?

Gas sales margin is thin. Stations don’t sustain themselves in gas sales.
Now we’re talking about a place where people need to spend more time to “fill up”. What do you suppose that would do to the types of sales which DO sustain gas stations?
But also, we’ve built stuff before. I’m still confused at the incredulity of… doing it again?

“But we’d have to build stuff”.
Yeah.

So only ~50% need public infra rather than the current 100% with gas. Then factor in lower rating plugs for charging slower while at work (you’re parked for hours anyway) and you start to see where I’m coming from.
I am curious what you think the alternatives are. Ideas like reducing individual driving for more public transit appeals to me but I’m getting the sense that you’re a rugged individualist which would not like that.

Much of your argument seems to boil down to “but we’d have to build stuff”.
To that I say, yes.
Personally, I use the cable that came with my car and a standard 120v outlet which was already in my garage. I was able to cut my gas to 0 with no further infra investments.

Charging infra could be better but remember all those rich assholes who charge at home? They're never going to touch public charging infra until the odd road trip.
Gas stations where also built over time...
It's also strange to see people incredulous at the thought of doing again what we've done before - put a bunch of new plugs everywhere.

But also, have a friend at an apartment complex with chargers on every level of their parking garage.
