Last Notes npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Variance killed more than its handful of good ideas. The sad part is we’ve been sitting on the solution the whole time with nuclear power. One thing that doesn’t get mentioned enough is kW/acre. How much wildland are we willing to level for solar panels and windmills? npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger If we could do that, we wouldn’t need bitcoin. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger They should have the freedom to manage their platform any way they want. Why should they run their product according to your rules? npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Right now, mostly accounting. Trying to figure out tax implications of receiving bitcoin. How much it was worth in usd when I got it, etc. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger What’s the best place to get some training on this stuff? I have btcpay setup, but I’m struggling to get it operational as a merchant. The best I’ve found is btcsessions, but that didn’t go as in depth as I had hoped. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Haha! Inverse Gresham it is then npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Isn’t that Thiers’ Law? npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger This will either be ineffectual or push miners overseas. They have to compete globally, and can’t be inundated with stupid regulations. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger My name is bitcoin ranger. I didn’t miss the boat. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Bitcoin even fixes lost MTG cards! npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Agreed, we got the petro-dollar in return. The world hasn’t been cruel to the US. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Most important metric in bitcoin npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Noise npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Stephanie Kelton keeps telling me deficits are good for me. I don’t know enough economics to know why she’s wrong, just that it doesn’t seem right to spend so much. Seems like living way above our means. I get that the US won’t default, but that doesn’t mean we are feeling the effects of it. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger You clearly haven’t seen the end. Spider-Man stops the train, we’re good. https://m.primal.net/QHpQ.jpg npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Noted…. I don’t get it. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Most people don’t care about protecting their money from the government. That’s why they flock to FDIC insured accounts. My grandma isn’t going to self custody her bitcoin. She’s far more likely to lose her keys than the government 6102ing her coins. Far more bitcoin has been lost to people screwing up self custody than intervention on legitimate use. We need to stop telling people they’re stupid, and work on custodial solutions if we want this to scale and integrate into society. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Basically getting network dependent apps started. If there’s no activity, people will leave even if the UI is nice. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Nostr needs a plan to solve the cold start problem prior to being stripped of our 1st amendment. Until then, it’s competing against X, which has a much larger network. To that end, we need to find a way to cater to the hard side of the network, the content creators. What do they need? What do they not like about X? The nostr community needs to figure that out and solve for it. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger How do we get around the block size problem? Only so many transactions can happen on chain. Use a 2nd layer, I’m back to trusting the matrix. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Great, we’ll never hear the end of this from Schiff npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Why did I get this tracking strings thing? npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Thanks for sharing. I have definitely tended to “undershoot” when it comes to these types of social interactions. The risk of overstepping seems so high, but the reality is there’s far more risk to not engaging. The number of amazing people that have walked in and out of our lives without us ever being vulnerable enough to know them is staggering. Listening to Charlie Houpert started me down the path of getting over my social inhibitions, gave me some tools for conversing, and it has helped my relationships immensely. Link below if you’d like. Good luck! https://open.spotify.com/episode/3UbfGCbTlxXAxjYeVpAu6G?si=vWAVLH1JQjWNb_bwou7L2A npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Realistically, the risks of outsmarting yourself in self-custody are understated. Dude forgot to wife-proof his stash. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger 4 year cycle was likely never a thing. It was probably a confounding variable like the business cycle. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger I still haven’t forgiven them for GameStop npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxeUxjGpZ5F6adPecmb5Te6PFtCYZ30t2B?si=KGzSwNUhsPo7c1eP npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger So you’ve created a sovereign authority that mandates how people have to transact. What could go wrong with that? npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Company buys bitcoin, sets up lightning terminal, makes yield on bitcoin. Bitcoin is outperformed. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger I just found out I still have some from the first debacle! Round 2, apes! https://m.primal.net/PtCx.jpg npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Mostly real estate npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Yeah, and used the money to buy an asset. Net cost 0 to me. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Boom! Aping into GameStop as we speak! npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger I’m not a victim. No bank has ever gone back on the terms of a loan on me. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Tesla carries too much weird political risk right now. Pass npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Oh, I do have a very unique set of skills. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Dude, you provide insane value to this community. I hope you are getting to touch some grass and take care of your well being. I don’t know how you do it. Thanks, but remember we need you for the long haul. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Independent, but led by the treasurer. Hmm npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Very true. I guess the better question is why people don’t value permissionless media? Maybe our society isn’t as oppressive as some would have us believe. Maybe nostr is an idea whose time hasn’t quite come. Who knows? npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger It makes sense when you value something other than broad appeal. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger As long as I have access to electricity, the nuclear umbrella, medical care, clean water, Busch light, phone (for my nostr feed), internet, hvac, modern plumbing, and transportation, I’m in. Aside from that, yeah, screw those guys. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Popularity is a winner take all market. If we really want freedom, this is what it is. Darwinian. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger If the goal were to build something popular, then it needs retooling. If the goal were to build permissionless social media, then it’s a success. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Nice! Now do the bullish case? npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Median. Still good to be in the US. https://m.primal.net/Psns.jpg npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger It’s good to live with the world reserve currency. Not great for the rest of the world, but bitcoin fixes. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Most education is free, we just haven’t figured that out yet. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Things haven’t gotten bad enough for people to care about permissionless social media. No demand, until there is. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Boom! Congrats man, what a monumental life accomplishment. So thankful to have your insights available here on nostr. You’ve taught me a lot already. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger I like how they use the curtains to keep out the riff raff. I’d be in the back smirking about how many sats I just stacked with my econo-seat npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger With money supply growing at 7% per year, low fixed interest rate debt is the smartest move you can make, as long as you use it to buy scarce assets and don’t over-leverage. It’s a tool. I use debt all the time in investing, and it keeps me liquid because I don’t spend all my good money (bitcoin) on new assets. I can use shitty borrowed fiat that debases faster than the interest payment. Make the banks pay us some of that back after decades of robbing us blind. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Doesn’t matter. Either bitcoin had the fitness to survive in the wild or it doesn’t. If saylor is enough to wreck it, it definitely shouldn’t serve as the global reserve currency. That said, I’m long BTC. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Is scarcity secured through a decentralized protocol? npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger 9 uncompromising statements about how immoral everything is. Not one positive thing? You don’t have one good thing to say about your country? How is that not blanket? These are just pejorative statements designed to flare the anger of a certain demographic. It’s no better than what the media is doing. Next time, check your own incentives before shitting all over my home. Christ man, I may as well watch an episode of the View. Normally, I wouldn’t care, but you represent a movement that I believe in. The thing that fixes this is bitcoin adoption, and it’s not going to happen if we’re constantly ranting to everyone about how corrupt and blind they all are. Anyway, this conversation is bringing out a side of me I don’t particularly like, so I’m done. GN man. I hate that this got so nasty, but I’m really hurt by it. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Overrated: Snow White 2025. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger You have some good points, what I disagree with are blanket statements about how terrible the US is. Usually it doesn’t bother me, but tonight it just rubbed me the wrong way. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger If it was god given, everyone would have it. No, it’s granted and protected by the constitution of the very entity you hate so much. Dude, you represent us. Get some world experience before you endlessly badmouth the country that gives you such a comfortable life. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger No, it’s hyperbole. Dude, you pissed me off with this. Take your blame America first crap and shove it. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Wtf is this? No American today has any idea what real tyranny looks like. Yeah, our system has problems, but compared to what? Some fairy tale you’ve created in your head? We have a lot to be thankful for, and we need to remember that before carpet bombing the whole thing. This is why so many people can’t stand the bitcoin community, because we sound like a bunch of spoiled kids whining when our phone battery dies. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger This is so awesome npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Asset price inflation from BS currency vs sticky wages via anchoring bias. Yeah, that’s cool. I mean, I’m not insecure about that at all. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger I’d rather have actual laser eyes, but BTC is a close 2nd. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Definitely don’t let her watch reloaded then npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Trolling is all I have, Lyn. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger We had difficulty fielding an Army during WW2 due to an underweight population. Incentives were aligned to production techniques that could achieve economies of scale, leading to commercialized farming, shelf stable products, etc. In that environment, it made sense. Bad food was better than a starving population. Caloric deficits are a far more common problem throughout history than surpluses. Most people alive today have never seen or experienced that, so it’s easy to look past. Now, food quality poses a higher risk than caloric deficit, so it makes sense to rethink those practices. This time, I think it is more a case that the environment has completely changed rather than an evil plan. And never forget, in a zombie apocalypse, the country with the most Twinkie’s wins. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Who owns the lightning node for our sats on primal? npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger I always wondered what % return would make me say “DAMN!” Now I know. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Broken Money 🔥 npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Only this time they can’t shut down bitcoin trading! npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger I’m having flashbacks to GameStop. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger When you build centralized power structures, eventually the other side wins the election. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Alright Peter Schiff, you win this round npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger This chart passes the highest level of scrutiny; it confirms my biases and ideology. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger My ecash game is lacking. What’s a good resource to get up to speed on this? I need another layer to my tin hat. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger On a long enough timeline, the probability approaches 1. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Yes!!! I don’t need a bunch of extraneous features. It just needs to be simple, indestructible, and reliable. They should listen to Michael Saylor and his interviews on the What is Money show. He talks about it there. But, they would need to give it more than 3 minutes. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger On your podcast with Nik Bhatia, you mentioned you had 7 books that were your foundation for understanding bitcoin. Would you be willing to share? npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Loved the show. That part on the 7% a year monetary growth was shocking. Also liked the Sharpe ratio discussion. I’d never heard BTC analyzed in that way npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Gah, BTC going back up too fast! npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger More like the CPI was manipulated to a lower number that most people will still believe. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Far greater?? No way. Existential threat? How exactly does the cartel fight an expeditionary war against the US military? People forget about the Cold War and the arsenal of nukes still pointed our way. The black swan event is a Russia/US nuclear exchange. This is political, I don’t trust him anymore. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger https://m.primal.net/PcYz.jpg npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger The SBR is happening whether any of us like it or not. We can’t create a free system and then expect the government to come in and do the right thing. Relying on them to burn the bitcoin or create laws to not seize it only creates a temporary and local solution. We shouldn’t be asking the government to do this because that creates a perverse incentive to the devs to create technology that nests within that framework. What happens when the government doesn’t want to play by their own rules? We have to build technology that resists this no matter who is in charge. The government will likely keep the seized BTC, and we should use it as an incentive to innovate and create a protocol with the fitness to withstand future seizures. Adopting a free monetary system meant giving up the consumer protection that the government currently provides, there were bound to be casualties. This is way bigger than bitfinex and the Silk Road, the long game is what matters. Don’t get me wrong, if they return the coins to the rightful owners, that would be great, as long as we operate as if they didn’t. I don’t think returning the coins now would mean anything at all to future regimes that want to steal it. I get wanting to go along when the government aligns with our interests, but there’s always the next election. We can’t get complacent. npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Right there with you brother npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Michael Howell talks about a 6 week lag between M2 and BTCUSD. Could be a great setup. Also, what are your thoughts on truflation realtime inflation metrics? Shows a steep drop off in March. I’ve never used it before, but I read about it today. 1.35% seems super low, but if it is dropping, we may turn the corner on QT. https://m.primal.net/PcHx.jpg npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Yep!!! Thanks! npub12mq55q5qdjz6fua99ee58v7uc3j9segcl6sftxjjh6rv9lek025s5ynzf4 bitcoinranger Yes!!
