I worry we’re gonna end up with some sort of authentication-only web if this doesn’t implode at some point. Which will kinda defeat the point. 😭

add back! The original iPhone simulator had this behavior too.

There's some usability regressions to Device Hub.app, but I just realized it forwards trackpad swipes to the simulated OS. Meaning that, for the first time since ~iPhoneOS 2.0, I can use the trackpad to scroll instead of click-and-dragging in my apps. Very nice addition!

Drops, my caffeine and water tracking app, is nearing the finish line. It’s got a nice graph to track how caffeinated you are, colorful themes (just for fun), and above all tries to make manual data entry less of a chore.
If that sounds interesting, I’d love it if you gave the TestFlight a try: https://dropstracker.app/testflight.
There’s more features I’d like to add to it, but for the 1.0 version I’m focusing on making what’s there as solid as possible.

I'm pretty sure that shouldn't happen, though if your server sets the "Remote content retention period" option that will destroy posts after a certain number of days. That's not a recommended setting though.

what’s silly (to me) is that there’s actually an artificial limit imposed by the software license. Assuming this is still up to date. https://eclecticlight.co/2023/09/14/current-limitations-on-macos-virtual-machines-running-on-apple-silicon-macs/

it is one of my burdens 🫠 (also, IIRC every portal is an off screen pass…)

how many offscreen passes is that?

Remember: the most important step in debugging a piece of code is to make sure it’s even being run before you start changing it 🫠

I've been debating starting a blog about programming and stuff and so far the hardest part has been figuring out what to name it*. And no this isn't a bit 🤣
*And like… a good name, that's not too long to type, that has a reasonable domain available, without any weird second meanings, that is memorable and original but also not too obscure, maybe funny but not cringe… honestly naming APIs is way easier than this.

do kids these days understand channel tuning? That’s like installing Netflix, right?

I’m not sure if this applies, but the lawyer who drew ours up also has a copy of everything too in their records (and as a backup).

I don't know, but I'm starting to realize why so many SciFi stories involve civilizations going back to the stone age after industrializing now.

we’re currently having fun double checking that our trust and will is set up to still apply in the case our incoming administration decides to overturn federal marriage equality. Not the most fun way to ring in a new year 🙄
