Good morning, Joyce. We've got soggy, miserable weather with a "feels like" temperature of 40F. Fall has settled in, but at least our frost warning for tonight has been cancelled.
I'm glad you got your walk in. That Iris you posted is definitely completely off schedule!
Have a good one!

Good morning! After 4 days away, it was soothing to wake up at home. No denying I'm a homebody.
While up in PA a friend had a get-together that ended up lasting almost all day. Some of us hadn't seen each other in almost 10 years. We all caught up without missing a beat and I'm now resolved to maintain the connections moving forward.
For today I need to get some food in the house. Tonight the H.S. marching band will show off what they accomplished this week. Back to real life.

67F sounds pretty nice. It didn't get below 77F here.
I hope by now your cleaning is done and you've been able to relax a bit. I was able to get my errands done without being rained on, despite the threatening clouds, so I felt pretty lucky.
Yesterday was animal day here. We had a huge groundhog and a 4-foot black snake show up over the course of the afternoon. Both moved on too quickly for me to get a picture.

Good morning! I woke up to 60F (15.5C) weather. I've already been out for a walk that required a sweater. This fall-like weather is glorious. It's a pleasure to have the house opened up and cooler than inside than it has been for a long time.
I need to do some housecleaning, which won't take long, and I think need to bake something since heating up the house isn't a consideration today. Might as well celebrate the benefits of comfortable weather.

Good morning! Muggy is the word for today. We have a good chance for thunderstorms all day. Fingers crossed we get some measurable rain. I'm glad I don't have anywhere I need to go.
I'm looking forward to a catch-up phone call with my sister in Chicago later. Since her partner has dementia, we schedule it around what works best for her.
Otherwise, it will be a regular day of reading, family history research and indoor exercising. No way I'm walking in the sauna outside.

Good morning! I'm back from our "girls only" trip. We had a great time, but as always, it's good to be home.
We're starting the day with smoky haze and unhealthy air and will end with strong thunderstorms. I feel like I'm living in a science fiction movie. At the same time my heart goes out to our Canadien neighbors who are more directly affected by the forest fires.
Today will be spent indoors, returning to the reality of everyday life. Laundry + cooking, here I come.

I'm reading this a day late, and I'm so sorry. All the anxiety, panic and stress that I felt with each of my parents' medical problems came back. I know you'll do better than I, but it's a lot when parents can't be completely independent anymore. It seems unnatural somehow when the whole parent /child dynamic shifts.
The car situation sucks, but that's not as emotionally fraught as your father's situation. I'm here to listen if you ever need it.

Happy #Slackerday! Another cloudy, humid day with thunderstorms later. At least we're out of the 90Fs (33C) until the middle of next week.
Yesterday's checkup was good. I've resolved to be more consistent with my back exercises, although I'm reluctant to do some before bed as was suggested. An unexpected boost of happiness--finding out the dreaded doctor's scale read 2 lbs. lighter than our new scale at home.
I'm pleased to have a day I don't have to go anywhere. An easy day!

It's good to get information and even better to get a plan. I know you'll use the walker and won't let pride get in the way because you're smart and motivated. You'll get better faster.
I have a couple of relatives who resisted what medical staff suggested, with poor results. As a result, I have resolved to use every recommended tool to stay mobile and help my body heal, even if I'm kind of cringing inside.
You've got this. 💪

Good morning! It's a sunny and cool day. Yesterday we got almost 2 inches of rain. 🙌 At one point we were under a flood watch while simultaneously being under extreme drought conditions, cuing Alanis Morissette in my head.
First thing on my agenda is to take a long walk. It's too wet to do any serious gardening, but it will be nice to admire the plants standing tall.
I'm not sure what I'll tackle mid-day, but it will be a pleasure to read on the porch later.

Good morning! We got a nice amount of rain from last night's thunderstorms that actually materialized. From my windows, everything looks drenched. (Yay!)
The 95% humidity and predicted repeat of thunderstorms later will keep me inside, except for running out to vote in our primary elections today. I'm glad I got errands done yesterday.
I've got an uninterrupted block of time to organize accumulated stacks of family history notes. It's long overdue, and today is the day.

Yesterday turned into a lost day when I got hit with a bout of nausea. I ended up sleeping the afternoon away and had some toast for dinner.
This morning I feel OK. I’ve got to run some necessary errands, and then I’ll retreat to the AC before it hits the upper 90Fs (35C).
If we’re lucky we’ll get some much needed rain out of possible thunderstorms tonight.

Happy #SofaSunday! We finally got some rain yesterday (!) and now it seems we'll have a high chance of getting more each day through Tuesday. That's making for a pretty dreary long weekend. It also ensures a marathon weeding session will be in order once things eventually dry out.
Most "official" outdoor events through today have been cancelled, but we have to wait to see if tomorrow's parade will be called off.
None of this disrupts my plans for a quiet day. I shall carry on.

We’re not getting sunny days to enjoy, either. I picked up new prescription sunglasses on Tuesday. I’ve used them exactly twice since. The clouds are locked in + thumbing their noses at us.
Looks like it’s reading for the win.

Our chickadee babies will fledge any day, so I'm hoping that doesn't happen while I'm gone. Imagine the challenge of going from a small, dark bird house, having meals on demand, to being out in a bright wide world. That's resilience!

Last night's celebration of C's birthday was fun. We all ate too much, which I think is a requirement. I made the mistake of ordering an ice cream cake, requested by the birthday girl, much larger than we needed. Despite sending home as much as my daughter's freezer would hold, I am left with a sizeable amount in my freezer. Oh darn.😉

Good morning. It's a breezy, sunny day. We got enough rain overnight to get everything wet, but not enough to put a dent in what we need. Disappointing, but not unexpected.
Saturday, I pick up my order of native perennials. I didn't order much, but I may have been too ambitious, as last year's plants have spread more than I expected. Today's task is to vigorously thin what's currently established and maybe revise where the new plants are going. Not a bad way to end April.

Good morning! A slow morning so far. While the birds are quiet the squirrels are hyper-active this morning. When it comes to dare-devil feats combined with lack of common sense, squirrels win over cats. They chase each other out on tree branches that have no ability to support their weight. They try jumping to bird feeders that are much too far away. Repeatedly. How they survive their repeated falls is beyond me, but it provides good entertainment for the cats.

Today's crisis is averted. Once a year a pair of Canadien geese show up to swim around our small pond. They make quite a racket, since they don't seem to be able to swim around without honking ad nauseum. At least this year they waited until the sun was up.
Our task is to make their life as unpleasant as possible until they fly off. Once that happens that's it until next year.
Yelling + arm waving, running at the pond has worked. They caved easily this time. See ya next year, geese.

We’re still getting freezing rain, but a good amount of the original accumulation of snow has melted away or been compacted by the alternating rain-then-sleet cycle.
It’s going to be weird having snow on the ground for the foreseeable future. Usually ours doesn’t last, but this time around the bitter cold will freeze things solid.

Please do not overexert yourself. Just a little at a time will get it all done eventually.

I am. I'm tempting the power grid by making another batch of cookies. 😂

I’m worried about the power as well, but there’s not a lot more I can do. My tech stuff is charged, laundry is caught up, and I’ve got a thermos of hot tea.
I hope you have an uneventful day!

Happy #SofaSunday to you. We are now alternately having sleet and snow and it appears we’ll be observing the same race between falling temps and precipitation later this afternoon.
I’m not a big pie maker but do have a big supply of homemade cookies on hand. To cleanse the palate I’m going to make onion dip for football watching later on. After all, variety is the spice of life. 😊
Enjoy your day of sofa surfing!

I love watching cats wash up. I’m also grateful I don’t have to wash up the same way! 😂
I hope your Sunday is a good one. 🤗 ❤️

Good morning. We've got over 4 inches of snow, which is still accumulating. The birds are out in force, eating like there's no tomorrow. We've jerry-rigged an old beach umbrella over a large tray of bird seed to prevent it from being covered with snow and sleet and that is proving to be a big hit with the ground feeders. Meanwhile the cats are loving all the activity at our window feeders. I can already tell it will be my new part-time job to keep the feeders stocked.

Good morning! We've got about 4 inches of snow on the ground, with lots of varied weather still to come. Fingers crossed we don't lose power.
Enjoy your day to yourself. Those are often my favorites. 😊 🥰 ♥️

Good morning. It’s snowing here, as predicted. I’m hoping the forecasted sleet and freezing rain don’t materialize. I’m in full hibernation mode!
