I just pushed python 3.14 to alpine linux edge. It will keep the builders busy for a while to rebuild the 1900+ packages. There will probably be some inconsistency between main and community (we upload main before starting to build community). Hopefully it will not cause too much pain.

I would like to drop armhf (armv6) support in #AlpineLinux. The only current hardware I am aware of that is armv6 is Raspberry Pi Zero series (EOL 2030). I don't think it is worth the extra effort to support both armhf (armv6) and armv7 at this point.
Do you think we should drop armhf to free up some resources?

We finally got Alpine Llinux 3.23 out the door. It comes with 6.18 (LTS) kernel and zfs-2.4.0-rc4 (just like FreeBSD 15...). You may want verify that you have backup before upgrade if you use ZFS.

OpenSSL 3.5.3 introduces a regression that makes ssh break on openssl version check.

If you use Alpine Linux:
- 3.22: make sure you get >=3.5.3-r1
- edge: make sure you get >=3.5.3-r2
Those include backports of upstream fixes.

- apk-tools 3.0
- gcc 15
- python 3.13
- improve/clean up Alpine user handbook (we need volunteers for this)

We are planning to update apk-tools to 3.0 in edge repository on July 1, 2025.
We are keeping the apk 2 index and package formats for now, so everything *should* just work, but scripts parsing the output of apk may need to be adjusted.

it does what I need, but still relatively simple. It is well maintained. Lots of themes which probably means an active community. Will hopefully make it easier for others to contribute. And Go is nice.

I'm thinking of starting test hugo for the alpinelinux.org website. I have already spent the time budget on browsing hugo themes without finding anything perfect.
Are there any good hugo theme that would fit?
Small and simple is good. no-javascript is a plus. (Alpine.js would be cool?) Similar layout or color palette from current is also a plus. No npm also a plus.

This week I have experienced both the good and the bad with working with open source.
The good: Today I asked in gcc IRC channel about build failure of cross compiler. They were able the help me in the right direction and I found out it must be a bug in busybox awk. Feels so good to find that out, after banging my head into this for a couple of days. Ask for help early!
(still don't know exactly how busybox awk is broken 😨 )

Just pushed linux-virt 6.6.58-r1 and this boots. If you use edge, please make sure you have 6.6.58-r1 (not -r0) before you reboot.
v3.20 and older should all be good.

I use both libvirt and incus (lxd fork) daily on my work desktop. It does shut down nicely for me.

postmarketOS people are also working on this. Would be nice if upstream systemd could officially support musl libc.
