@nprofile…sftd You may use the /etc/hosts file if you're wanting to block sites from the device itself, problem being you'd most likely have to manually maintain it / add it as a nixOS package and then have to auto update your hosts.

@nprofile…ml9f @nprofile…sftd Jellyfin also acts as a music server, which works great for me since there are many native clients on linux at least. On FreeBSD there's at least the official clients, probably some unofficial ones too but for sure will be more limited.

@nprofile…sftd If I recall correctly this is caused due to a SSL certificate change. This was fixable on a 2017 MacBook Pro with the terminal, I cannot recall exactly what I did though. Very stupid.

@nprofile…ku9w Mine accounts for daylight in the US but it requires an active connection to OnStar's servers. Once I removed the fuse for OnStar so it can't talk out, it stopped automatically changing lol.

@nprofile…sftd Lol duhh yeah you were talking about with it plugged in... I'm not sure I've seen it behave quite like that, usually any display works. Maybe your TV somehow takes too long to initalize?

@nprofile…sftd My guess is the firmware does a check for the display and requires it to be present for it to post. Possibly you could just put a fake cable in? I do not know fully how it gets detected, so perhaps there's a board in the panel, you might need that and just store it inside the chromebook. I'd be curious to know if this is adjustable if you were to custom build Mr Chromebox, or if this is a limitation even farther down the line.

@nprofile…sftd Yeah, that is true, that seems reasonable to me. Thanks for sharing, I'll see what route I end up going. I'm also considering making a desktop/laptop version of my distro from scratch (currently just for virtualization, but very small base), and just include xfce as a DE and flatpak. It's immutable using BTRFS snapshots and is likely feasible here.

@nprofile…sftd Cool! I was recently donated a (x86_64) HP 14 G4, which I'm still deciding what to do with since it only has 16GB of storage. I'm leaning towards building my own images of openfyde and hosting my own OTA server currently.

@nprofile…sftd In commom.nix, line 39 'services.xe-guest-utilities.enable = pkgs.stdenv.hostPlatform.isx86;'. This is being flagged as true and enabling xe-daemon. xe-daemon fails to start on my macbook pro, making `nixos-rebuild switch` fail. It's not reproducing in qemu (gnome boxes) but it does look like it 'fails' to start there too, just in the case of my macbook, for some reason it's fatal.

@nprofile…sftd One issue I had with nixbook so far is after installation, it fails to update. This is due to some xen virtualization service failing to start. For now I disabled this line https://github.com/mkellyxp/nixbook/blob/6c7d0ae0a399a942e122cbf9e1fb1c33e6c6d671/common.nix#L39C3-L39C37

@nprofile…sftd I finally got audio/mic working along with the webcam! I made an issue on GitHub which shows the nix module I did for the audio/mic, for camera it was as simple as adding 'hardware.facetimehd.enable = true;' to the configuration.
