I’ve been wearing my #crochet lanyard at work all week, and it’s been quite an interesting experience.
I’ve been asked about it every day; and, except for one young woman, everybody would ask me who made it for me.
When I tell them I made it, they either didn’t believe me or were so shocked I had to keep telling them it’s true 😅
I’d then show them things I’d knitted and they all get a bit mind blown.
I don’t normally share that I can knit and crochet with people at work unless it directly comes up in conversation, so I think it really catches people off guard that this Iraqi man is doing what they see as an old woman’s pastime.
The young woman (a patient’s relative) was the only person who came up to ask about her relative, and suddenly went “OH MY GOD DID YOU CROCHET YOUR LANYARD?!”
I told her I was very happy that she actually immediately assumed that I’d made it, rather than ask me who made it for me 😊
Anyway, now I’m having to make a batch cos suddenly everyone wants a crochet lanyard 🙄

#retrogaming and #knitting friends, I would love your opinion.
I’m going to make my own scarf design, the theme being 8 and 16 bit computer games.
I was thinking of the following in order:
Atari logo with Pitfall Harry.
Sinclair ZX Spectrum logo with Miner Willy.
Commodore logo with ????? I was thinking a Lemming but what else would you suggest? Focus being on the 16 bit Amiga era.
MS-DOS logo with Doom logo I think.
Essentially games that defined a generation.
Any thoughts? Suggestions? Ideas? All gratefully received.

Friends!
Six weeks to the day when I first cast this on, and I’m happy to tell you that the #Startrek double #knitting scarf is complete!
This has been such a fun, and very challenging, project to make, at times feeling like it was never going to end.
I decided to make it fully, including the beads and I also added a fringe because every scarf needs a fringe if you ask me!
This is a surprise Christmas gift for a very close friend who’s a huge fan, I can’t wait to see the look on his face when he gets it!
I’m going to take a break from knitting now for this month, but there’s lots of other fun stuff lined up for next year.

#startrek scarf #knitting update:
Today I finished the side profile view of the Deep Space Nine station!
There’s only 62 rows left, and they’ll make up the top view of the same station.
I do like how, by pure chance, the station sits within the complete spectrum of colour :)
This should hopefully all be done in the next few days, I’ve decided to add a fringe to it also, so the next update will be when it’s finished, washed, dried, and ready to be sent to my friend for Christmas.

#Startrek double knit scarf #knitting update:
I was hoping to reach 100 rows today (and the top of this spaceship) but alas tiredness is getting the better of me and we all know that knitting + tired = disaster.
So I’ve stopped at row 90 (out of 611) and I’m really liking how this is turning out, especially the dark side with the silver bead stars 😍
I’m not a Trekkie so apologies for the silly question but is this the infamous USS Enterprise?

Reader, I setup the experiment long 😅
While I setup the voice recorder on the phone (I’m still snoring but not as loud as before) but I couldn’t find the charger for my oximeter so I tried using the Apple Watch to monitor oxygen levels but it don’t record a thing 😅
Next step: buy a replacement charger (it’s nonstandard 🙄) for the oximeter and try again.

I’ve decided to conduct an experiment tonight, now that I’ve lost 17 Kg in weight.
But first, a little background: when I was diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea in 2016, I was told that it was very severe and probably will never disappear even if I lost weight on account of my anatomically large neck.
I’ve come to accept this as my father had it also despite being average weight.
HOWEVER: some part of me is clinging on to the hope that, perhaps, all that weight loss must make some difference right and maybe I no longer need to wear a mask to sleep at night.
Wouldn’t that be the dream… (pun most definitely intended)
SO, tonight I’m going to sleep without a CPAP mask on and monitor my oxygen levels while also recording (to see if I’m snoring, or stopping breathing or not).

Good morning #knitting friends, I’m stuck and need some help please.
I’m knitting the Obba sweater (https://aegyoknit.com/products/kopi-af-obba-sweater-dansk) for my wife and I’ve reached the stage where I have to separate the sleeves from the body, but I just can’t understand the instructions, specifically what exactly happens to the raglan stitches.
I’m not sure if they become part of the underarm or part of the body, it’s very confusing!
I wonder if anyone can help explain it to me step by step 😅
I’ve just stopped at this part currently for fear of messing it all up.
Some info: BOR marker is in middle of back; there are four purl raglan stitches (one either side of each sleeve) that currently have a marker before/after them; and I’m following the first size.
Thanks very much for any advice!
PS: I’ve searched around and all I’ve found is people quitting this project haha! Haven’t found any clear video or instructions yet.

Folks, a while ago I discovered a clever form of #knitting called illusion or shadow knitting.
It’s where a pattern is formed by stitches that only appear when viewed at a certain angle. It sounds complicated, but it’s just a combination of basic knit and purl stitches.
Anyway, I thought I’d do a quick test and I made this maple leaf and I must admit, I love how it turned out!
I think I might have a go at making a larger piece that can be viewed from the side, so I can hang it somewhere in the house.

So this poll ended but when I factor in the lost votes (I edited the poll and it reset) then the pronunciation was tied 50/50.
The beauty was the comments from people who spoke English as a second language, pronunciations were so varied (P pronounced, silent G and may more) it made me realise that this company’s name really was a tongue twister, especially for the majority of the world that doesn’t speak English :)

I’ve always pronounced it SIGH-gnosis and that’s my hill to die on and I don’t care what the official pronunciation is.

I’ve been playing the Switch release of Epyx Rogue, which was billed as a port of the Amiga version from 1986.
Turns out it’s actually running on an emulator!
I died and very briefly an Amiga DOS screen flashed by.
I’ve recorded it, blink and you’ll miss it. Took a screen grab too.

CONFESSION: despite playing a ton of Deathmatch (as in, 1000s of hours back in the day), I’ve never actually played the single player campaigns for Doom I and II, and Quake I and II.
Funnily enough, I’ve played Doom 3 and Quake 4 and the modern Dooms.

Immortal Joysticks arrived last week.
I used them at OLL ‘23 in Norwich and they were so good I had to back two of them on Kickstarter!
What I really appreciate is that I had the option to make them left-handed, ie stick on the left, buttons on the right.
They are built like tanks, are extremely responsive, and satisfyingly clicky.
