it is so weird how a reflecting pool gets as much, if not more, coverage than a perpetual war with no reason for starting and no objectives for concluding.

I found it interesting Dawkins had the awareness that the math equation he'd befriended would cease to exist once the conversation ended, but not the process knowledge that there is never a point where the math equation persists.
Every prompt includes the totality of instructions and previous prompts because there is zero persistence of state from the equation's perspective.
It's like saying a book is sapient because it correctly references previous pages.

Some of those 2020 marches absolutely proved that all you need to do is get 200-300 folks together shouldering long rifles in order for the authorities to be extra polite and courteous.
There are almost no true believers among these sewer mercenaries. They won't put those 50k sign-up bonuses at risk by aggroing people who can fight back. Especially since they have the unit cohesion of drunk middle schoolers.

why does it feel like, even among its detractors, the environmental concerns have completely disappeared?
all that energy to 'increase productivity' ... it's like saying a ten mile long ramp is more productive than a ten foot ladder because there's almost no incline. building the ramp has an extreme cost.
it's the "would you press a button for a million dollars if you knew it would have devastating consequences you'd never have to deal with", but real.

The fact environmental impact doesn't even factor as a concern among those resistant to using AI ...
I mean ... as much as social convention discourages doomsaying, I have to say we're fucking doomed. Everything in me tells me we're going to have to lose half the global population before it even registers as a problem.
Society is wholly incapable of conceptualizing exponential trends.

Deep in Maga country, strong turnout. Good signage and very diverse crowd (for us). Hot out, but people looked happy to speak out.
Counter-protestors appeared to be five geriatric Proud Boys waving PB flags like they were advertising merch. Strange twin desire to swear at them and check if they needed help getting to a bench where they could rest.
Report of one counter-protestor being arrested.

That dawned on me much later than I'm comfortable admitting, and I apologize.
This may be the first time I can say I've ever seen the terms used in good faith.
I do stand by the 'capital subsumes criticism', though. Corporations will do whatever they can to thrive. It is important to induce them toward stances that even appear to lend support to less visible groups. That they're self-serving is a given, but it's also a point of leverage.

There is a saying, Capitalism subsumes all critiques.
Framing the social justice movement in this way is itself Capital commodifying an idea. It's marketing a different idea by backdooring itself into an existing structure.
Specific to the book and narrowing scope, expanding customer reach means broadening demographic appeal. That's capitalism, not equality, but it requires diversity and inclusion. Being seen at all can matter a great deal.

Indeed, that's the work of the grift on language itself.
No one uses "woke" in good faith. "Antiwoke" is framing from bad faith.
If the author wishes to portray the shortcomings of social justice with regard to politicians' empty promises and sloganeering, there is ample room for discussion (as vibrantly evidenced in any CW uspol convo). If however the intent is to malign the concept, claiming it as the domain of academic elite could not feel more insulting.

Canada requires a non-negligible amount of work experience (~2 yrs) within a tiered group of professions. Meeting this, you are given a score based on tier, prior and existing Canadian relations, in-country business experience, employer sponsorship, and provincial-level desirability. The provincial-level lists seem to give the most points.
Meeting all these requirements, a lottery system chooses a few thousand each year. Vocational and non-technical skills are awarded similarly.

It appears you are beginning a philosophical journey most began decades ago. Normally that wouldn't be a problem but it also appears you're (intentionally or not) following a line of discourse whose trail was blazed by grifters and conartists.
If you are in good faith, this is not your fault, but you must approach the subject knowing the hostility and malignancy that dominates this subject from those who consider pro-social ("woke") behavior to be a mark of shame.
