@nprofile…fwg0 you're getting this wrong - delivery receipts are sent when an user's device has acknowledged receiving a message, while read receipts are sent when an user's device has acknowledged an user seeing a message.
Matrix still has delivery confirmations but only to your account's homeserver and not to any users in it. The only side channel attack in read receipts is seeing how fast the user on the other end has read your message, which only telly you they were in the same room at a given point in time.
The side channel attack in delivery receipts is devices send them regardless of whether you've read anything, with different delays for whether you're in-app, using your phone, not using your phone, charging your phone, or offline.

@nprofile…m22g only thing i could find matching @nprofile…fwg0's description is a timing side channel attack involving message delivery receipts that's not exclusive to signal. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BgneDTH81EY

@nprofile…kvsz Mastodon has a default post limit of 500 characters and increasing it needs source code modifications which many admins don't bother with.
I don't know why it's still seen as the poster child of fediverse software nowadays.

@nprofile…5rc0 @nprofile…6xtp it wouldn't be restricted to just those, but to people reacting to the note through your renote.
behind the scenes, a renote/boost is just a textless note referencing another note, and a reaction is pretty similar to that.

@nprofile…5rc0 @nprofile…6xtp easiest way would be sending the interaction to both the original and repost notes, though it's a chicken-and-egg scenario in that i don't think any fediverse software has support for handling that gracefully.
It's sort of like the Cobalt situation where yt-dlp only works because smart TVs are running a subset of web rendering frameworks google made a decade ago and doesn't update ever because any updates would only be usable by them a decade from now.

@nprofile…gxv0 i know you don't like debates (at least in a pedi hellthread format) because they force a winner and a loser and this somehow results in unsportsmanlike behavior from all parties involved.
In your opinion, what can pedi do to improve on the debate format so as to address that concern?

@nprofile…ec5k @nprofile…z6m2 You could also use the information gathered by that peeking to take advantage of the person in a future interaction. For many MAPs that may actually pose a life-threatening issue.

@nprofile…ec5k Doesn't make much sense because the war isn't about cunny.
There's not a lack of cunny to go around, unlike the poaching propaganda being circulated may make you think.
The cunny in bed with Ulith isn't involved.
The cunny.beauty instance's problems are only a part of the fed behavior the war is targeting against.
