@nprofile…5yxp Indeed, that's why I started down that bunny trail. Only a keysend example, and the slugs file just brings confusion.
IMHO, using "method" as LNURLp, and "type" as LNAddress is more consistent with the terminology.
Reason: LNURLp is a way of requesting payments (like keysend), and an (LN)address is synonymous with node (also an address).
It's also consistent with the .well-known/keysend and .well-known/lnurlp syntax.
My $0.02.

2025-12-25 15:46:10 GMT

Merry Christmas, all y'all.
'Tis the season for giving, and we could use a few more examples in the wild west of lightning payments in podcasting.
Is this example correct?
<podcast:value type="lightning" method="lnurlp" suggested="0.00000005000">
<podcast:valueRecipient name="Bob" type="lnaddress" address="[email protected]" split="25"/>
...
</podcast:value>
1. method="lnurlp"/type="lnaddress"
2. method="lnaddress"/type="lnaddress"
I'm thinking "1". 2? Something else?
TIA.

@nprofile…srvr @nprofile…h82d Hi Mitch,
The <generator> field in the RSS file in this example is RSS Blue. Isn't the feed ID the numeric value at the end of the URL? 6907064 in this case.
Another example is 6763679. That feed doesn't have the <generator> tag populated.
In my experience, Publisher feeds get added just like any other feed using (at my level of experience) the Add UI/API such as https://podcastindex.org/add
And then the Index assigns a feed ID to the feed, regardless of medium type.

This might be a case where a very simple RSS server (static file server, only), might want to make use of limiting access straight away using the signed https calls that @nprofile…h82d talked about today. An open "send me stuff to fill up my drive" would be insane.
Then there's where to put it. Dump it to a log and parse offline-ish later? Straight to a database of some sort? Relay it to the server where your node is and hope @nprofile…pvn3 can rig something up? :)

Perhaps this could be solved with an additional, optional, attribute to the Value tag:
<podcast:value
type="lightning"
method="keysend"
suggested="0.00000005000"
preferred=true
></podcast:value>
.well-known responses could be queried at a given address (e g. mike@getalby or mike@mikeneumann)
Then the app/ln resolver, would query well knowns and use the method marked "preferred" I the feed/channel or item.

Nothing of value is free. Things of value may be given to others at no cost to the beneficiary of that "free" product or service, but it was never without cost for the producer to produce it.
A producer of a "free" product or service is allocating value to offer that value to others. If the cost exceeds means, something must change.
This is reasonable and is not equivalent to a "rug pull". My understanding of a rug pull is essentially a deceptive pump-and-dump, following investment by many.

@nprofile…7xwn @nprofile…v2ca all that is just how it started. Then we started doing live shows with it and building TSK "events" on the fly using the authenticated hook that Steven mentioned. This is great for spaz V4VJs like me who can't stick to their playlists.
The .mp3 metadata is just a convenience carrier of index info so the playout doesn't need to hit the index.
What many are trying to figure out is how to put this metadata into the audio stream itself, but could be heavy on apps to extract it.

@nprofile…7xwn @nprofile…v2ca If I recall correctly, The Split Kit started as a companion to Sovereign Feeds. Composing Value Time Split code for placement into feeds is a lot of error prone work, including calculating hour,minute,seconds to seconds.milliseconds for offsets was... Painful.
TSK does all of that for you. You can export chapters.json, and VTS blocks to text or directly into your feed through Sovereign Feeds. You get a web page that can be shared to listeners who can boost using Alby.
Try it.

I haven't done a live show in quite a while. The way Steven got it to work with TSK was to make use of mAirList's "Logging" feature that could be triggered after a song play began. You could/can configure a logging event to make an HTTP GET request, and pull some very limitied/specific fields from .mp3 file metadata and put those as arguments to TheSplitKit.
Measure your lag time based on audio lag to the listener's ears, and you have pretty close to 'realtime' VTS.

From what little I know about azuracast, I think i know it from some of the non-free internet radio sites that I messed around with to set up a live stream.
Those were essentially playlist players. Underneath the covers, I think they were management interfaces on top of liquid soap/icecast; updating liquid soap config/control files.

I'm personally not interested in having old copies of my feed littered around the web. We already see caching issues/out of sync with apps and their own DBs for good reasons. And then to have copies of the feed all over as well?
So, sure. Perhaps primary locator for IAM is at my FeedURL/GUID. Secondary on nostr.

and to the copies of feeds on my server, I prefer not to host my own relay, but rather publish some kind of lightweight 'note' or some 'type' to existing relays, in essence claiming my podcast/feed in a way that nostr can trust that it IS my feed, and that it's been updated.
Again - just riffing.

That doesn't work for PodcastGuru.
It does work for Fountain.fm, Curiocaster, Podcast Addict, TrueFans, Podverse, and maybe a few more.
I suspect the issue is that PcG will allow people to play a podcast via the web (such as this 'hate listen' https://app.podcastguru.io/podcast/pivot-1073226719) for Apple-indexed podcasts in their web player, but still does not support Podcast Index-only podcasts this way.

Hi Guys, I'm trying to make some QR codes to share It's A Mood either using Podcast Guru deep link directly, or a link provided by Episodes.fm. I suspect that the issue is a mix of both Podcast Guru not listing/finding my show on its web interface, and Episodes.fm, well, I don't know. I can 'find' my show on Episodes.fm, but the PCG link does nothing.
IAM is listed only on PCI. It will never be listed on Apple. I suspect this is still an issue.

My Start9's BTC Core is fully synced. Haven't done anything with Lightning yet.
My understanding is that AlbyHub routes to 'my node' in AlbyCloud. When I migrate that to my Start9:
- use new (LND) node which Helipad can monitor.
- - Channel impact? I assume I lose my channels existing on my AlbyCloud node?
- "easy way" is to a non-LND node (and Helipad can't 'watch' the action on that non-LND node). Channels?

I hear ya, but I've been jonesing for Helipad since I last shut down my own node in favor of going custodial + conshax.

@nprofile…pvn3 Will Helipad be impacted by not using the Start9 LND node?

Mastodon needs an "Unroll (Thread)" feature... :)
Glad you're migrated, @nprofile…7xwn For me, that's next week's task.

Fountain was similarly flummoxed:
(probably all relying in the PI API)
Can we get a ruling on value tags at the item level not requiring valueRecipients within that item level? It's fully redundant to the channel, IMHO. Further, I'd think that _any_ VR at the item level would fully override - not add - to the Channel VRs.
LMK. :)
