I believe nothing is 100% provable. I follow evidence. The Bible is accurate scientifically, archeological, historically and the messianic prophecies that have come true with 100% accuracy are huge (even from secular/non Christian sources such as Tacitus, Pliny the younger, etc).
I do however, stray from most “religious people” in that I believe if everyone is made in God’s image, they all deserve the right to question, offer their insights/opinions, share ideas without it having to be a “I’m right, you’re wrong debate”.
We are all trying to make it in life, understand pain and suffering, answer the why’s, explore, etc.
I am currently reading the Quran, and I’ve studied many, many belief systems. If I want to get answers, if they can be given, concerning the afterlife and where I will spend eternity, I want to research myself and follow the evidence.

I appreciate that viewpoint. I’ll look forward to starting the book of Enoch soon. I haven’t intensively studied why some books are in the apocrypha and not in other Bibles. I guess that’ll be next on my list of things to research.

Amanda, I totally understand, from the standpoint of personal growth and from the standpoint of talking with people on hospice every day as a hospice chaplain.
What you’re talking about is definitely a worthwhile process that simply takes time. If we take advantage of each day during the process and don’t borrow tomorrow’s trouble, the journey is so much more enjoyable. It’s amazing to look back and see the progress as well!

Yes, absolutely right!
A good detoxification every so often is good: physically, emotionally, spiritually, mentally.
I see from both ends of the life cycle. As a hospice chaplain, I see where older people have not taken care of their bodies, eaten badly for years, etc; then as a high school softball coach I see the girls use all of these dangerous cosmetics for the illusion of “beauty”. What we put in our bodies and homes definitely has an impact on the here and now, but especially on our future. Also, It takes intentionality and effort to live clean. Many aren’t willing to make the sacrifice, even though it’s just plain smart.

Fear keeps us from doing amazing things in our lives. Fear keeps us from stepping out of comfort zones to pursue a dream. It keeps us in line when the gov’t gives us an order (even though they think they don’t have to play by the same “rules”). Fear keeps us in a comfortable, safe space instead of reaching our full potential. Fear is a killer, and yes, fear is a liar.
What if in overcoming our fears, we change someone’s world for the better? What if we run right past the fear of the “impossible” only to find that it was possible? What if we find true peace and joy by reaching out to others who are right where we used to be, struggling to make it? What if we choose to bulldoze fear and pursue/reach our goals and dreams?
We’ve got one shot; one life to live. Let’s narrow our eyes and set our jaws to overcome fear, no matter the odds, and no matter what others think. Let’s make a commitment to overcome our fears, step out of safe spaces and stand for what is right. Your second thought was spot right on! I’m kicking around an idea of maybe starting a micro school in the future. Yes, I do. Brain overload is what is call it. In those times I feel that I should slow down, take a breath, say a prayer, and go back to the basics: Get out in nature, thank God for family, friends, life. Set your mind on peaceful, joyful times.
Now when those times come as I’m trying to sleep, and thoughts are bouncing around like a ping pong ball in my brain. I’ll get up, look at the wonder of the moon and stars, thank God for His guidance and focus on one thing. Might be reading a chapter of a book, reading a devotion, watching (even though it’s been said that watching tv or on phone at night isn’t good) a short clip of something, etc. before going back to sleep.
With all of the thoughts bouncing around, limiting my focus to one thing just usually seems to reset everything in my mind.
