#yegbike commute, north of Gibbons. The Trans-Canada Trail is an imaginary, arbitrary line on a virtual map. It is connected occasionally to local trails - but such is not the case for the Athabasca Trail, that is until the trail head begins somewhere north of Highway 18. We are not there yet. We are guerrilla camped in a currently vacant Community Hall just past Halfmoon Lake Recreation area - despite Google Maps and the Highway signs, does not take drop in campers.
The roads to get here were soft sandy surfaces occasionally covered by thick loose gravel. The wife’s proper gravel bike did just fine, my cobbled together mountain bike did not do so well.
We hope trail conditions improve, as they should soon.

The oddest and most disconcerting thing about staying with my Winnipeg friends is that we shop at the same stores (MEC, IKEA, Lee Valley, etc.) we have so much of the same household things.

God help us all, we are to be drivists for a week.
We have previously used every form of transport to get to Winnipeg, but now it's renting a car as the most practical option.
Someday we'll bike it, but not this year.
By the way, Highway 16 East and Transcanada to Winnipeg should be avoided, as we'll be driving on them.

Wow, glad to have made it home on the #yegbike commute just before the deluge and the lightning began! From my point of view, the storm was timed perfectly.
Some hail here, but it seems like a 20 minute rainfall so far. Lightening continues as of 4:20pm.

Even checking on the Oilers game scores on the internet when I remember to do so is too much pressure.
No wonder my grandpa taped the games and watched them the next day when he already knew the outcome.
It's a but like watching cycling highlights for me, EF Oatley/Education is on my social media feeds, so I already know by how much heartbreak my team has already had.

Speaking of #earworm …..
My long term care facility at which I work goes up to palliative care - basically for the most part, when you move in here, it’s your last stop.
And right now we’re in the middle of a Gastro-Intestinal outbreak ( I caught it last week and it’s a NASTY bug), and I’m taking care of the afflicted who were in delicate condition to begin with.
The Cutting Crew song ‘I just died in your arms tonight’ is an #earworn for the wrong reasons. It’s not a thing for a romantic song.

I think it's an Edmonton, or north of Red Deer thing.

#yegbike commute pm update: North of 118th Ave is largely brutal brown sugar along the 97th Street Axis. Greisbach and Calder/Lemdrum North/South painful. 96th Street from 118th to Jasper - MUP not cleared, roads are brown sugar sandbox with rideable areas in between. Greirson Hill MUP done, approach down to Tawatinâ Bridge looked cleared. Low Level Bridge sidewalk NOT DONE, WTF! Scona Hill MUP and paved part of Sask Drive cleared. 100st MUP also done.

#yegbike commute: cool and wet at +10°C, with medium northwest winds in light but steady rain. Much leaves and stuff on surfaces. Not quite terrible, but a bit dreary and dark. #earworm ‘Chocolate Rain’ by whoever.

I'm really enjoying your Drumheller trip vicarioiualy. Many memories of a very different Drumheller in the mid-70's, and the few times I've taken visitors there a few times in the last decade.
