Let's compare smartphones with cars:
Before being allowed to drive a car, you need to go to driving school and pass an exam.
The car doesn't need to check the validity of the driving license nor to identify the driver.
Not giving the car keys to the kids is the parents' responsibility.
Any device where camera or microphone cannot be physically disconnected is equivalent to a car without brakes.
Any device where parts subject to wear or obsolescence (battery, flash memory, software) are too difficult or expensive to replace is equivalent to a car where tyres can't be replaced.
There are anonymous means to attest age, ask your friendly neighborhood cryptographer or computer scientist.
Online safety should be a mandatory course in school, materials based on @npub1sn0…jdv9's expertise.
It should be the parents' responsibility to set the device into underage mode.
But what happens instead?
#FiatSocialMedia first grab all the data they technically can, legality and consent don't matter, then make their product as addictive as possible, then push for "regulation" that enables them to grab even more data, while obstructing privacy-friendly independent competition.
Anonymous and pseudonymous online speech is indeed crucial, but no Fiat Social Media "platform" provides any of those: they all want your e-mail address, your phone number, your non-anonymous IP address, and if you're using a smartphone app, hardware information, and access to everything on the device.

Die Betroffenen können also nicht - und die Nichtbetroffenen glauben wohl, dass es sie niemals betreffen wird.
Deswegen ist die iranische Diaspora, die in Deutschland gefühlt jede Woche für Freiheit im Iran demonstriert, auch überwiegend unter sich. Das gleiche Muster: nicht betroffen, also egal.
Kinder aus armen Familien, Azubis, Studis, Gehartzte, Aufstockende, Alleinerziehende, Geflüchtete, Leute in Rente, wegen Krankheit oder Behinderung Erwerbsunfähige, Obdachlose, Menschen ohne disponibles Einkommen, aber auch diejenigen, die unbezahlte und unhonorierte Care-Arbeit leisten, ohne die in Deutschland alles zusammenbrechen würde.
Alle haben keine große Lobby und können, im Gegensatz zu Vermögenden und Unternehmen, selbst keinen Druck auf Staat, Wirtschaft oder Regierungsmitglieder ausüben - außer vielleicht durch vorsätzliche Wahl als Verfassungsfeinde Wahrgenommener. Wer nichts mehr zu verlieren hat, und sich vom "freiheitlichen" und "demokratischen" System verachtet und ausgestoßen und abgelehnt fühlt, wird irgendwann "das System" ablehnen und "die Politiker", die scheinbar verantwortlich sind, "bestrafen" wollen, ungeachtet der Konsequenzen.
Jeder Mensch sollte mal mindestens einen Tag lang die ganze Stadt die Mistkübel nach Pfandflaschen absuchen und das Leergut dann kilometerweit zum Supermarkt schleppen, um zu verstehen, wie viel Zeit und Energie für so wenig Geld geopfert werden muss.
Das ist die wahre Schande in Deutschland!

It was a good concept. Unfortunately, i observed *all* client apps more or less broken.
Every time i tried using it, unfixed implementation bugs caused it to become unuseable.
If the UI is blocked most of the time or the local database gets corrupted with no means to fix it, frustration is guaranteed to repel even the most patient.

I remember from a talk, the speaker asked the audience "Who loves their smartphone? Their google, gmail, facebook, insta, twitter, whatsapp?" - most hands went up. "Who trusts their smartphone?". Few hands stayed up. "Interesting. Love without trust, that's usually an indicator of a toxic relationship."

Were the Nazis terrorists? Certainly. Anyone in Germany who opposed them openly didn't live long if they were caught.
Were all of the Germans terrorists who deserved to die through bombs, including schoolkids and babies? Certainly not.
Did the Nazis commit unspeakable war crimes? Certainly.
Was it necessary to remove the Nazis from power? Certainly.
In WW2 the Allies intentionally bombed civilian cities in Germany, a grievous war crime btw, and 80 years later unexploded bombs in the ground remain a threat to people in Germany. I'm not saying the USA or Israel are doing that in Iran.
Is it cowardice to value life and not disregard somebody's life as "acceptable loss" and to refuse to deny an ethical dilemma?
Even victims of traffic accidents i do not consider "acceptable losses", so forgive my "cowardice" for not considering any "casualties" in this war "acceptable" no matter whose missile it was and if it was intentional or not.
You are entitled to your ethical preferences and conclusions, as i am entitled to mine.

Das Prinzip Aufstocken (oder "Ergänzungsleistung") halte ich für grundlegend fehlerhaft: (Fast) das gesamte eigene Einkommen (aus Arbeit oder aus Rente, also vergangener Arbeit), wird von der "Stütze" wieder abgezogen, wenn es unter die minimalen Lebenshaltungskosten fällt. Unterbezahlte bzw. unbezahlte unneigenützige Tätigkeiten (Care-Arbeit in der Familie, Ehrenamt, FLOSS-Software entwickeln) werden von offizieller Seite nirgendwo entschädigt oder als Leistung anerkannt, obwohl sie oft systemrelevant sind.
