We had a TV growing up, but it was used very rarely and pretty much only for movies. Never had cable or anything like that.
I feel incredibly lucky for that.

Weird. I always assumed it’s some phishing scheme to try and scam lonely nerds or something. Not sure if the same applies to what you’re describing.

If you want to continue to use the blockchain analogy, this is would be why we have NIPs. No one is suggesting that we change what has happened, which is recorded on the chain. But how we deal with transactions going forward can be modified as long as there’s consensus, and as long as it’s backwards compatible.

2023-02-13 12:46:56 GMT

- reply

I understand that argument. But humans look at the world very different than we did 1400 years ago. I’d argue that a text that describes how you should behave has to change, albeit extremely carefully.

Why does it matter that the Quraan is preserved perfectly? With blockchain you need a perfect historical record of transactions. Religion is very different.

I’ve heard this a bunch, but this is a terrible take. Real estate has intrinsic value. People want to live in proximity to their interests, and many people have the same interests. People will pay more for what they want, that’s just the way it works.
Now I think you could argue that there is a shitcoin equivalent in the real estate market (that’s certainly true). But real estate in general is and always will be a valuable commodity if it’s in a desirable place.
