I’ve heard that Threads wants to add integration for following Fediverse users before the end of the year.
If this is true then I really can’t wait to see us Fediverse users on Threads and more Threads users interacting with us.

The downside of it if it is true would be most likely META is going to implement it in some stage way that doesn’t make sense. Making us look like second class users compared to their Threads users.
Guess only time will tell.

I get that, there reasoning by them is due to how there corporation has to go through a board of directors for approval, there's probably something to do with how they are using Instagram's back-end to create Threads as well. Hopefully we get all of that soon as I really would love to fully interact with my friends and family that wouldn't want to move to Mastodon but would try Threads.

Currently have almost 90k external accounts accessible on Southampton.Social
Can't wait to get to 100k, Hopefully more people federate there accounts on places like Threads along with the progress of the full cross compatibility get's there in the next few months

Either way I hope there is cross over when it comes to the two as in a bridge that fully works or just allowing AT Protocol to work with ActivityPub as the Fediverse should be able to connect from anywhere.
I personally don't want an Android vs Apple situation with the Fediverse and think teams should work together in growing this amazing part of the internet we have.

Yes this is what my thoughts are behind Bluesky's protocol.
ActivityPub is perfectly fine as a protocol, yes more features could be added and they are being worked on with things like the ability to actually take all of your posts when you migrate.
Features such as Authenticating and Signed API calls could probably be on their way, but I am unsure.
In the end it's like reinventing the wheel instead of just taking the original one and adding to it.

So I want to make the Mastodon experience with Lemmy a bit easy experience.
As of the moment they are just marked as groups but I feel it needs another indicator that it is a forum based account instead of just 'group'... Will try and see if there's something I can auto-do in Mastodon itself.
