The eldest has just had his insulin pump delivered.
No idea what it would end up costing under Reform but under the NHS he just had three and a half grand of medical tech dropped off at the door for nothing.
Oh and don't forget his insulin is free and he'll never, ever have to pay a prescription charge for any medication.

This week it's jumped out at me several times when three different people from different parts of the US all said house's instead of houses. Do you? Do you even see the difference?

the way the nuclear lobby has won over the science literate US left of centre is amazing.
I got blocked on the bird site by somebody who I considered a friend for saying the waste problem hadn't been solved and the UK government was still burying used rubber gloves and the soil from rose gardens in a cave with the price for the actual proposed solution hitting the level of being the worlds biggest ever single project.

ah nice, I don't think I've ever seen a photograph of one on the ground before. They make a lot more sense now I've seen that including the neck stretching look that we see on Blackbirds and Starlings when they are on the ground over here.

My parents took my Granddad in after his stroke and he lived with them for about 15 years before it got too much and he moved into a nursing home for the last couple of years.
They made my sister and I promise not to take them in however much they beg and instead get them into professional care the moment they can't look after themselves :(
They moved to a bungalow about 10 years back and downsized to make the transition easier when it happens.

I'm just pointing out if you want other people to adopt it then Meshtastic isn't the way to go. :)
The more nodes on the network it has the more messages it generates. A node only knows not to repeat a message by the hop count.
When somebody asks for their messages every node their message hits relays it, all the nodes that see that message and didn't see the first repeat it. Until the message count is hit.
It's a poor use of bandwidth for the use case.

which is great if you only want to use it in the US. I'm telling you Meshtastic is terrible in other places because it was designed and developed exclusively for the US allocation and devices.
We absolutely saturated the network and it's not designed to pick up dropped messages.
It's absolutely the wrong network layer to use for a BBS. Trust me ;) Look at the alternatives and you'll see how much more suited they are.

sorry but Meshtastic is the wrong technology for this. It's not very good in congested regions (the 995mhz EU slot for instance) due to many circumstances and a BBS would saturate the bandwidth over Meshtastic.
Doing it with Lora is possible but it's probably better using Reticulum or even building on top of LoraWAN. I looked into doing something similar a few years ago when we saturated Meshtastic in the UK and started looking elsewhere.

I feel sorry for the people of Coventry, it's like it's hanging out there on the eastern edge of the West Midlands all on it's own almost being dragged back into the shires but being too tough to be allowed to play with the nice folks again.
It's an awesome place and obviously the place that revived Ska in the 70s and showed us white guys we could join in and play it as well.

I'm in Wolverhampton about 15 miles away.
If you draw a triangle between Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Walsall you get the birth places of most of Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Napalm Death and Robert Plant. It was busy few miles :)

It's so weird to lots of Europeans that the US sort of forgot how to dry clothes in the post war period. Like it was a sign of poverty to not burn dinosaurs to dry something that was wet even in parts of the country with sun and light breezes for 10 months of the year :)
I can only imagine how dryer culture looks to people outside our wealthy northern hemisphere bubble.

Desi pubs are public houses (pubs, US people think bar but better) that are run by members of the Indian diaspora that serve beer and often good Indian food. Mostly Sikh owned but some are Hindu and fully vegetarian.
Since I live in Wolverhampton with one of the largest Sikh communities outside of the Punjab and lots of Bangladeshi chefs we have our fair share.
They are very welcoming places compared to walking into a local you don't frequent normally.

It was our eldest sons 28th birthday yesterday and he went out for a curry and a few pints at a local desi pub (probably not a thing in the rest of the world I'll explain below) with a couple of his mates.
Half way through he texts his Mom and tells her he'd forgotten how large the portions are and she texts him...
"Do you want me to leave you a tummy tablet next to the jug of ice water I'm putting in the fridge for you?"
He's 28 and out with two mates who have wives and kids of their own :)

The Russian pirate stations started using SW broadcast bands a bit more often recently as well.
That SDR station in NL is great for watching Ukrainian pirates broadcast waterfall art over The Buzzer (UVB-76 on 4625 kHz).
When the garden dries up a bit I might throw up a end fed and listen in. I've got no HF antennas up at the moment.
