Chris Adams

a couple decades ago on a trip up to Mammoth, I drove past Manzanar with someone who’d been interned as a kid. That was quite the mood, but now I feel sad about how we had assumed that was a past evil we’d outgrown and slightly relieved that he died before seeing us falling back.
The country he later came to love, and serve in the Korean War, isn’t dead but it’s not coming back easily.

The letter says she is eligible for deportation because she overstayed her visa in March 1974 at 4 years old.”

farm land isn’t exactly unbuilt, but also we should do both because those are different groups of people. Studies in several countries have found that solar panels are also beneficial to grazing animals like sheep so there’s a lot of room for multi-use land, too.

“if farmers took a bold leap and covered 46% of land currently used to farm ethanol with solar panels, that would then generate enough energy to reach the 2050 decarbonization goal for the US.
