But we already knew the current administration gives no shits for the people who they order to serve and die to forward their agendas.
Still, this is abominable.

It sounds as though you may be saying that you don't feel this beongs in public con spaces?
"I defend them to be allowed and welcome on furcons, just with the consideration that they please respect the magic of transforming fursuiters and not push in between them, keeping a respectful seperation" is very vague to me in terms of what you mean on a practical level.

Let's see how things have evolved since 2023...
Do you feel pup hoods constitute 'adult content' in terms of how visible they should be in public spaces during furry conventions?
1) They shouldn't be visible in public spaces.
2) They shouldn't be worn in public spaces.
3) They're fine if not accompanied by other gear.
4) No; they're not 'adult content'.

...oh good, when I ordered my new bed I put in my current address.
Since it hasn't even reached the local delivery service, hopefully changing the final address (only five minutes away) is a non-issue.
Frak.

If the law says that you can only grow cannabis on property that you own, then they're not preventing me from doing something that would otherwise be legal, because it's not my property.

Heck, I may have arranged to get rid of my old 27" CRT TV that weighs a ton within an hour of posting it to Craigslist. And that's considering I couldn't vouch for it working and it weighs over 90 lbs. and I live on the 2nd floor.

Babylon 5 - "Sleeping in Light": Still holds up well. It's a bit sentimental (a bit?), but it's also the final episode. It's really sad to consider how many of the actors themselves have since passed away when it hasn't been -that- long. The fate of the station still feels a bit silly, but oh well.

Phrase of the Day: Text laundering.
Using AI to generate text for whatever reason, then paying a human to clean it up for you (since obviously you have no appreciable writing skills of your own).

We have a long way to go, when someone says something like this in a "Star Trek" forum...
"Before the Committee For Correct Communication got in power, "gatekeeping" used to be called "having standards".
I'm open to the possibility that they meant it as 'having standards' was a line used to justify bigotry, but that's not quite how it reads to me...

In my experience you generally can do that with most real-time communication apps.

2026-05-15 17:47:49 GMT

It would be really neat if apps that allowed for real-time communication would do more to enable users to specify a timezone and then could display the other person's current time at the time you're composing a message, so you'd know if you're about to message them at 3am.

At least I'm doing something to try to improve my situation.

Lovely. My company's apparently planning on bumping hybrid employees up to four in-office days per week.
Fuck that noise.
As I've maintained all along, if I had teammates in my local office, I'd understand why it makes sense for me to go into the office regularly. But I don't, and I can't come up with any practical reason why I should be required to do this. If anything, I think I'm -less- efficient in the office than I am at home.

The Expanse - "Babylon's Ashes":
As a season finale: That was pretty great, though I'm a little unsatisfied by Marco's fate. Lots of things resolved, but lots of things still in play.
As a show finale: What...the...fuck? How could they end the series here, with so many things obviously unresolved?

Sure, but my point is that I feel I could be a lot more persuasive if I could provide practical examples of sensitive data that would be applicable to this individual, and thus far I haven't been able to find any examples other than, "DATA!!!", which isn't very persuasive.

2025-04-03 12:37:57 GMT

I get that, and I don't disagree, but for the purposes of trying to convince someone who believes they have 'nothing to hide', we're still talking in abstract rather than practical terms.
Put another way, concrete examples of data that you shouldn't want law enforcement to have access to beyond the more obvious ones would be helpful.
Keep in mind we're up in VT, where even the Republicans are Democrats.
