On/off ramps are the obvious point. I'm thinking more about people keeping and using #bitcoin and the stable shitcoins for goods or services, without going back to fiat gates. I understand tether can be pressured to freeze random wallets, but the Joe Average, living in Venezuela or Russia should IMHO be OK. And of course, the more freezing tether does, the more people will swap to #BTC

This all started with @npub1lrn…qnw5 thinking it's a good idea to promote a #shitcoin on his profile. When I asked why promoting shitcoins, he replied that I shouldn't be jealous. I'm honestly not.
Sadly, I knew @npub1lrn…qnw5 on X when it was called Twitter or here, when #nostr just started years ago, and recall him being cool. Perhaps he's still trying to understand #bitcoin while being in the shitcoin phase. For some people it clicks really fast, others need a bit more time. And that's OK, we all are different.
I'm sure he'll try to spin this again about me claiming something I've never said. But eventually, he'll understand that nobody is jealous of him being used by random shitcoiners to promote shitcoins.

That shitcoin cannot scale without a 2nd later like #lightning. I honestly cannot imagine a future where the masses are using monero. Perhaps multiple shitcoins, like it's the case now but monero alone, in a state it currently is in, impossible. So yeah, that shitcoin isn't special, no matter how hard the shills pretend it is. The only coin that really is important, is #bitcoin. Anything else is replaceable.

Most of you know the "fair share" idea: 21 million #BTC ÷ ~8.2 billion people ≈ 0.00256 BTC per person, or about 256,000 sats.
What I hadn't thought about is how much the dollar cost of that share swings while the sat amount never changes:
At the October 2025 peak (~$126,210): about $323
Today (~$84,000): about $215
Same 256,000 #sats. The share didn't get smaller. It got about a third cheaper.
A few other things that fall out of the same #math:
$100 a month buys about 119,000 sats at today's price, so one fair share takes a little over two months.
1 BTC is roughly 390 fair shares.
Even if every coin were spread perfectly, at most 21 million people could ever hold a whole #bitcoin. That's about 1 in 390 people on Earth, and with lost coins, the real number is smaller.
The sat count is the constant. The dollar price is what moves around it.

Monero people pretend it matters. That's the difference. Let's say you get 100k #sats here on #nostr and use your #lightning wallet to spend them at a place accepting #Bitcoin payments. Even the receiver won't know where the money came from because you're using LN. Sats are, simply sats, buying you a burger or a pizza.

Just send it all to a new address in your wallet. Set as low fees as possible. I would go with 0.5 or 1 sat/vB.
Now, using bitcoin on-chain for such small transactions is not the way to #bitcoin. I would say, anything under 100k should IMHO be on #lightning, not on-chain.

Testing this #nostr thing for the first day and quite like it. Third app installed, sending this note from #wisp. Very impressed. The other apps are @nprofile…3xgl and @nprofile…twc2 which are still on my phone too. All three offering pretty smooth experience, especially comparing to the apps a few years ago.
So far so good. I have been reminded by @nprofile…dtpv about setting up a wallet, ended up with using the one integrated in @nprofile…utqf instead. A side question: is the dark wisp version significantly different? Anyway, followed about 50 accounts, posted a couple of memes and that's about it. Just wanted to #asknostr if I have to do anything else or I'm all set now? Do I need to set anything else? I recall verifying used to be a thing when #nostr stared, do I have to go through some or do the clients do that automatically now?
