Good morning Y'll! Another day of hot and humid here in the lower Susquehanna Valley, with rain and thunderstorms moving in this afternoon. Locally heavy downpours are possible as the storms are moving slowly. Heavy focus on that, amongst my other duties.
Continuing to see tremors and earthquakes in the area between Russia and Alaska, along with Tsunami WARNINGS. Some flooding has been reported. Last night, Japan was looking at major evacuations along the coastlines, as well as nuclear power plant evacuations. Fukashima was one of the plants. I'll be following up on that later today.
Heavy lean into getting all of my work for the week done in three days (today is the third) before I head to training tomorrow and Friday. and before you ask, "What type of training" it is "Emergency Management Training, SIR!" Yes, I adapted it from "Stripes." 😁

Good morning Y'll!! Back into the "dog days of summer" in the Susquehanna Valley, as it's hot and getting hotter today and tomorrow. All of that heat is going to cause rain and thunderstorms Friday into the weekend.
The wildland fire risk is starting to increase as well, as surface and ground water start to decrease with consecutive days of no rain. High humidity does not help much either.
So much to do, so little time......

Data from both Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate that Milton has strengthened to a category 4 hurricane. The maximum sustained winds are estimated to be 150 mph (240 km/h). Milton is a category
4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Data from the aircraft also indicate that the minimum pressure has fallen to 940 mb (27.76 inches).

Picture this: while everyone’s freaking out about losing X (Twitter) access during a hurricane, the local ham radio operators are calmly chatting away, broadcasting like it’s 1952, making sure Grandma gets her medication and the National Guard knows where to go.
Even though we’ve got satellites, drones, and Elon Musk's Starlink beaming from space, ham radio is still the reliable, cranky old grandpa of communications. It’s the guy who shows up at the party with a flip phone and somehow still knows what’s going on when everyone else’s iPhones have given up.
