American resistance and American reaction are both at fault not because they lack a heart, or because they lack energies.
It's a profound paradox that there is no American solution to the American identity crisis.

2025-10-26 15:34:27 GMT

- reply

Emotion (heart) and courage (will) are morally neutral energies, and without prior direction a moral-epistemic compass those energies reproduce domination.
Ethical and political praxis must begin with cognition and judgment, not feeling or action. Cultures that idolise spontaneous action (“Just do it”) suppress the necessary moral reflection that prevents complicity.

2025-10-26 15:29:29 GMT

- reply

Collective resistance or reform movements that act from emotion or outrage without a clear moral-epistemic compass will reproduce the same structures they oppose.
True political agency begins not in bravery but in clarity of direction, the capacity to discern where justice lies before acting.
Anybody can have a heart. Sometimes it's a heart of stone.
"Just do it" is quintessentially American preemption of moral reasoning.

Interesting but incomplete at best, possibly flawed.
Nicomachean Ethics came to Europe through Arabic and Hebrew traditions. Medieval European concepts of the social bond weren't a unique invention, it was a dialogue with Islamic and Jewish thought (at times also with Byzantine and Eastern Christian traditions).
That ideas of virtue, obligation, love, and hierarchy in friendship had parallels and counterpoints in other cultures — which medieval Europeans knew about and enriched with.

After the abolition of habeas corpus, due process, and posse comitatus, our behaviourial change is merely a reflection that the system has ceased to offer any guarantees under the law.
The new assumption is that we are not dealing with a mostly fair opponent anymore, we are dealing with an enemy hell bent on destruction.
Therefore offering any new information to the enemy is an unforced error, and an attack surface that you don't want to give.

Many of us have been doing this for decades.
My takeaway of late:
1. Keep your oligarchy-compromised systems functional, maintain time, and never use them for anything serious, important, or for any economic activity that the system could use against you.
2. Build alternative systems for everything that is important or economically relevant.
3. Don't offer an easy target with the appearance that something changed in your behaviour, play the fool, don't attract their attention.

In a society with economic liberty you don't need any civil disobedience at all. Civil disobedience is not a fundamental human right, it's a response to systemic injustice imposed on humans.
In a modern liberal democracy, civil disobedience happens only very rarely in response to anything but one or another kind of economic oppression.

Financially, they stand to double their already zillonaire wealth.
The US may not survive the tensions and ripple effects that will generate though.

That's really scratching the bottom. From underneath the barrel.

And that's how you know I'm right, facts are on my side, and centrists are garbage.

See the pattern? Banging on the students heads for complaining too loudly about genocide.
Letting Amy Coney Barrett join SCOTUS to undo Roe v Wade.
Sabotaging every primary, not letting young progressive Senators fight Republicans?
Not letting Keith Ellison preside the DNC?
It's not only that they hate the young, they hate the young AND progressive, the most reliable litmus test there is to identify conservatism.

These are clear facts where the Democratic elders decided to sacrifice the future, cashing during their lifetimes what was not for them to decide.
Now we can all enjoy Amy Coney Barret for the next 30 years.
And Biden, what can we say about Biden, who short-circuited every primary he was part of?
If there is any sense of accountability at all, the highest spheres of the conservative Democratic party have to go.

Feinstein's refusal to retire: Feinstein stayed in office despite declining health and cognitive concerns. Had she decided to retire earlier, her seat could have been filled by a younger, more progressive Democrat, ensuring continuity and strengthening Democratic control in the Senate. She didn't, her vote was crucial for advancing Biden's judicial nominees. The lack of her presence led to eternal delays in confirming them.

When Ginsburg passed away in 2020, it allowed then-President Trump to appoint her replacement, Amy Coney Barrett, a conservative justice. This appointment shifted the Supreme Court's balance further to the right, with lasting implications for major issues like abortion rights (e.g., the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022).
Awesome. So touchstone.

And their touchstone Democratic heroes who refused to do what the moment demanded for posterity, Diane Feinstein and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
It's a pattern of hating the youth, the future, and everything that's life-affirming.
Conservatism, in a nutshell.
