It's worth noting that Nostrid _does_ run in iPhone. We don't provide binaries because we don't have an Apple Developer account yet (which is required in order to sign apps for distribution), but hopefully we'll be able to do that in the future.

Try enabling automatic mode and assigning high priority to the relays you want to use. Let's see if that helps with the spam.
Regarding adding users, for now you need to know their npub or hex ID, that's why it's not working what you're trying to do.

2. Blocking/muting is a pending task. I created this issue to track it: https://github.com/lapulpeta/Nostrid/issues/113 By the way, the global feed uses paid relays only. I'm surprised that porn spammers are using paid relays 🤔

The first time you load an account, all your existing messages will appear as unread since the app doesn't know whether you read them somewhere else or not. Maybe this is what you are experiencing? Perhaps we should add an option to "mark all as unread" for this specific case.

44 relays is a bit too much. Try 20-25 with automatic mode (if you use paid relays then raise the priority for them). Also make sure you try version 1.22!

The followings list is local to each client. Most clients send their list to relays, so other clients (or even itself later) can pick it up. In most cases this means that your followings list is in sync between different clients, but things go awry if you update your list in client A and then update it again in client B before B gets to see A's change.
The followers list is also local to each client but this one doesn't exist as a list on the relays. Your client sees other people's followings lists and tells you how many are following you. This number can vary greatly depending on the relays you are connected to.

✅Nostrid v1.8 is out! This version remembers the last account used and some other settings, so you don't have to select the account every time you open the app. Also the web version now uses the browser local storage, so data is not lost when the page is closed (this applies to PWA mode as well).
