Had a crystal that wasn't starting consistently. Asked on StackExchange and realized I was missing a 1M ohm resistor in parallel with the crystal. I do not have a 1M ohm resistor so I just put a pinkie on each side of the crystal. It worked beautifully

@nprofile…l3vx When you think about it, having everyone choose from like, 2 different possible captcha services is pretty silly. It means that there's a strong incentive to break these captchas. Rolling your own probably works better unless you're a relatively large site because probably nobody is going to bother breaking it. I wonder if this is something that should be done more.

Alright. I have configured all my Nix stuff perfectly. I have a single file that spits out a custom live image (with emacs installed! - not that I should need it). To provision a new VM, I pop in the image, boot it up, and check the IP. Then, from my desktop, I run a single command, and it takes the Nix config I've built for that new service and pops it over. With a different command I can update my NixOS config on that same system.
While configuring this, I accidentally screwed up grub on my existing Nix server (The old version of my config and the new version were incompatible because I changed the disk layout). So I was like "alright, guess I'm putting it to the test" and completely redeployed the server from scratch in *5 minutes*. That's not an exaggeration - I checked the time before and after. 10:32 I noticed my grub was broken, 10:37 a perfect copy of the server was up and running and serving requests.
I am sold. This is an incredible experience.

@npub1kwy…mjf4 I think in an ideal world, every infix operator could be written as an assignment operator. But if your language design would mean implementing that is tedious, I think at minimum I'd want arithmetic ( + - * / ) and boolean ( || && ) operators.

Spent all weekend tracking down a bug in the display driver I wrote. It was causing my radio transceiver to go wonky (they share an SPI bus), but only when writing to the display with DMA!
Long story short, it ended up being a few bytes remaining in the RX buffer after the DMA transfer, which the radio driver would read when it was its turn with the bus. A single line of code and I am immensely satisfied right now
