Finally, more and more journalists are writing/saying what #Trump 's drivel is: dangerous, unreliable nonsense from a guy trapped in his megalomania and cult-like delusions, who doesn't belong in office but in court or at least to a private nursing home on a Golf course with high-security fence to prevent breakouts.

This. And a lot of independent media/journalists, scientists, climate scientists especially, NGOs. Doing Social Media professionally, I am obliged to have an account there for reading their news.
Many left Mastodon after a test phase reporting they had bad experiences with people telling them on the very first day how they have to behave or write their posts.
I like the Fediverse like you, it's my centre. But for reaching masses (important for activists), it's too niche.

Just a note for the Fediverse = paradise adepts: I'm regularly blocking and if possible reporting Maga propaganda even on Mastodon. You can get evil people *everywhere*.
The question is how much you can protect yourself or if such attempts are defederated or suspended.
Here, the Fediverse is better because human moderators. But most people don't know that difference. And would Mastodon be prepared if the ICE opens an account?

Just speaking for Europe: It doesn't matter what is said in social media.
We have warnings by our Foreign ministries how to behave, and we read in our newspapers how innocent tourists were either prevented from entering the United States in the first place, or were repeatedly detained and hidden away in dubious prison camps before our embassies secured their release.
These facts are enough, we don't need social media. Your government does enough to keep people away.

At the moment, I am wondering why this #anthropomorphizing #AI is going viral at a time when many people are #alienated from #nature, attribute little or no #intelligence to animals, or ridicule the environmental personhood of nature.
We are quicker to attribute personality to an LLM than to a wild boar; we attribute non-existent intelligence to machines, but not to a bee (who undoubtedly demonstrates a kind of intelligence).
What does that say about us humans?

My colleagues from fiber arts often donate buttons (social organisations) or exchange #buttons on flea markets and craft festivals. Buttons with some value (metal, wood, mother-of-pearl) can be sold (you don't get much). Antique ones are often searched by #costume #makers.

I'm more the type of person who says to myself: I can't disturb the researchers now, they are so busy. But I have often had positive experiences with authors of papers, where I was able to ask questions if I didn't quite understand something or had problems classifying it.
Unfortunately, many colleagues lack a minimum of social skills. Saying thank you is the bare minimum. And when a scientist explains something directly, it is easy to quote them by name.

Researchers don't use torches or bright lights. They developed highly sensitive deep-sea light meters and special cameras that don't damage animals. We shouldn't forget that human eyes are quite bad under water, or specialised to a certain spectrum.

Well, I found the origin of some of these pics on an Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/p/DLTJblnMu2r/ (different video) They had this video you posted but deleted it later.
This account, which misuses the title of a well-known documentary, ‘Ocean Odyssey,’ is notorious for AI! Sometimes they mix real pics in their account. All for collecting a maximum of followers for their promotion for an online "gambling casino".
They never react when people comment that they show AI.

I don't know in which country you live. Where I live (rural eastern France), you can wear what you want, also on a bicycle. You can organise a feast with neighbours: people with money cook and bring something for all. You can visit swap events.
Volunteering cuts isolation, too, you find friends, organise transport with sharing. We can't afford restaurants but we share cooking and baking. If someone has no more time for a simple walk but for social media, something is wrong.
