So #EXIF (metadata for images and other media) defines fields for ImageDescription and UserComment (https://timestampcamera.net/photo-guides/exif-tag-reference), both of which could theoretically contain image Alt Text. I wonder if any social media apps (clients for Mastodon of other #ActivityPub or #ATProto services, for example) read and use Alt Text from EXIF on upload, or preserve the metadata in the file if you re-save it. Seems like a relatively obvious and useful feature.

I remember reading previously that one shouldn't switch an #ActivityPub server between implementations (e.g. from #Mastodon to #GoToSocial), but never understood why. I know a fair bit about AP but haven't read the full spec.
Can somebody please tl;dr this for me? Is it primarily due to the private keys used to sign activities, or something more complex?

@nprofile…typy Did y'all discuss making the regex `r"^pylock(\.[^.]+)\.toml$"` instead (thus encompassing pylock.toml too)?

@nprofile…g4yp It's impossible to protect user metadata the way Signal does when you're constrained to SMTP as your protocol, though.

@nprofile…d2rl @nprofile…32wq This would be my guess. Are you aware of https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-processing-times ?

@nprofile…d2rl It sucks this is such a taxing process!
I am intrigued at the difference in process compared to a partner visa though! My partner (also from US) didn't need to do an English test at all!
