@nprofile…0hde from my experience, these people don't even expect anyone reads it. They certainly don't read anything. They only read AI summary. It's especially frustrated when you send them your own blog post with a deep dive, they claim to have read it and then pull out some random point you made in it, that AI somehow thought it's the most relevant thing in the text to single out.

@nprofile…rxrw it's often possible to record the sounds during the playback without breaking any DRM. It takes as long as playing those audiobooks but it's not absolutely vital for someone to be there while playing back.
So if you have an audiobook you can "save it" by recording it, digitally splitting the audio stream.on Linux you can do it with pipe wire, here is how you record Spotify:
https://gist.github.com/KarolTrzeszczkowski/d3359e692733da2dbda2a0518612724c
You could probably modify it to record Amazon stuff.

If something is popular, not very new and open source hardware
Why would there ever be any shortage of it?
You'd think that the whole idea is that when the original manufacturer isn't able to keep up with the demand, the open source nature kicks in and a tone of alternative suppliers appear, like in the case of Arduino. There is a whole ecosystem of "Arduino compatible" boards that are the same thing, built according to the same schematic.
But pine phone is unavailable and I see no third party, off brand options available. Same with uconsole. Uconsole takes a year to ship and has a huge fan base that is waiting. Where are the alternative manufacturers?

@nprofile…zjv9 well, Ergon is an open source project creating a cypher cash - currency with issuance proportional to work. Avoiding the common pitfalls of cryptocurrencies. It creates a stable P2P cash for payments with no pyramids scheme. Ofc when there is no pyramids scheme, there are very few people that actually engage in such a project because that's what people do the "internet money" for. So the project is kind of in a survival mode. What keeps me there is the fact that this kind of technology is unstoppable. And very anticapitalist.

Rozczarowało mnie niesatysfakcjonujące spotkanie mnicha i robota. Zbyt przypadkowe, zbyt bardzo jednostronne. Zbyt ważne, żeby być aż tak przypadkowe.

#YouthLiberation ppl, what are your thoughts on school teachers? Is there any way one can be a good one? As a beginner teacher, within the system of involuntary schooling I find it very hard to balance the needs of different children. I don't mind them being rude towards me, it's fair, I am aware I regrettably do represent the system. I don't want to be using the tools of punishment (negative points) and so far I have refused to do it, but other children are now asking me to be doing it when others are too loud and make it harder for the quiet to learn, or when they taunt others.
I don't want to ba some kind of a damn policeman. What would be the answer? Is becoming a teacher also a universally unethical choice, just like seemingly every other thing in this world?

So apparently the #KesslerSyndrome has already started. The amount of avoidance maneuvers grew 3x over the last 6 months, and the amount of junk in the orbit went up by <s>40%<\s>63% <a href=https://spectrum.ieee.org/kessler-syndrome-space-debris> [1]<\a> over the last 5 years.
What now? It's hard to internalize that it's already here. It will be a quick ride from now. It goes exponential. Hug your GPS, satelite tv, the weather reports, the space photos. It's the end of the space age. We will be telling our grand children how cool it was.
And maybe, if they are lucky, the moon will herd the debris into an orbital ring. It will be magnificent.
What should we be doing to prepare for this? What are your thoughts?

Two or three minutes after tying the air pipe the dish started to calm down. Still acting weird, slow, but at least not on the surface. 10 minutes later they were eating their dinner. Oof.

For people into #photovoltaics, do you ever consider dropping an inverter and going full DC?
The century old debate between Edison and Tesla might need a revision, because of the mode of energy production. We shift to a local production now and the main advantage of AC - ease of long range transfer - becomes irrelevant. And now we have easily accessible DC-to-DC electronic impulse converters so it's not even hard to serve a large range of devices.
Most of the devices we use are DC-powered anyway. Just drop the power supply and plug it directly to the wall socket. There could be a set of standard sockets - round for 10V, elipse for 12V, flower for 24V, triangle for 30V, square for 40V and pentagon for 50V. And ofc. USB for 5V because that's already a standard. So that you can't physically make a mistake.
Every single LED bulb has a tiny power supply in the lightbulb. That's why they break. It's not the diode, it's the PS. It's often very low quality. The diodes are fine.
It's an interesting thing to consider.

#solarpunk idea: wind powered #aquaponics. A pinwheel powers Archimedes screw pumping the water so it can drip through the NFT channels.
Edit: if anyone who have read it paints it, please tag me. I want to see it 💚

@nprofile…t9ta the cryptocurrency that signal uses does not use proof of work. In fact, it's not even using a proof of stake. It's literally a proof of DNS, an XRP (ripple) and stellar kind of protocol, where the nodes trust in the websites of their choice. It doesn't use any more electricity than any other web service.
