We are all screwed, as we're all living in SG2 right now.
Every vote people choose X or O, often making bad choices for selfish reasons. What's important is that we recall the humanity in all of us, no matter what our vote.
Where does all the money and demand for the game come from? Not organ harvesting, but from the ultra-wealthy VIPs who fund this all to make us fight among each other. Yet they're the ones who put us in debt and destitution in the first place, to create their obscene wealth.

Exactly! Like on Facebook for instance, every single person complains that they can't even see what their friends post, only large groups they aren't even in, for which Facebook recommends (force feeds) content for them. When they do finally see a post from their own friends list, it's 11 days old.
I'm sure the reason I get no engagement on bsky is because of algorithms. They don't like me.
Mastodon is organic, and real people seem to like my posts well enough here to make them spread.

Yeah, I don't get it. No matter how big my list is or how long I've been there, I never get engagement on bigger sites like I do on Mastodon.
The only time I've gotten Mastodon-like engagement on Meta was when I posted a picture of my game character dressed in rainbows, and everybody piled on with hate for "you alphabet people". That's not the type of engagement I want to see, obviously.
I had engagement on Twitter 15 years ago, but then it was probably more the size of Mastodon now.

Note that statistically, the average wages in the US are only slightly higher than in Canada, but the majority of Canadians (56 percentile) are better off than their American counterparts.
In other words, in the US wealth inequality is far greater. The rich are richer and the poor are poorer.
So the irony of them comparing the high GDP in the US compared to Canada is that they are only proving that the US has greater wealth inequality. The wealthiest nation has the poorest of people.

The entire goal of the BCC’s “Can-do”’ political campaign is to petition government to lower taxes on the wealthiest corporations (not small business).
According to them, these are the “job creators” who procure funding of “critical public services” by profiting off labour so that YOUR taxes can pay for these public services while you petition the government to reduce THEIR taxes so YOUR taxes can pay for the public infrastructure which they use to build THEIR business.

If anybody thinks that workers will have ANY rights or power (or as they like to spin it, "right to work") without collective bargaining, then they live in a dream world. We are nothing alone. We only get a share if we take it together.
Unless our entire system is overhauled of course, but that would require even greater concerted effort from the masses, unlike any Union strike or wildcat job action we have ever seen. Unions are the step towards legislation.

I mean, I get that Unions can be imperfect, but you're either on the side of workers getting a fair share of the great labour and domestic product produced, or you're on the side of capital ownership taking it from them. I work for a Union in Alberta, Canada, and here we know very well that Conservatives are anti-worker, anti-Union, and anti-labour, through and through. The president of one of our largest Unions in Alberta ran for leadership of the NDP (New Democratic Party, the most opposite you can get from the Conservative party while still being one of the three "major" parties), and of those three only the NDP really stands up for Unions and workers.

Yeah, technically his support diminished, if you take a few million fewer votes than 2020 as your measure (but 15 million fewer votes for the Democrats).
But that result doesn't matter anymore. Now that he's in office, his influence will grow by leaps and bounds, and his followers are now vindicated and emboldened to push their agenda, which they now call a "mandate from the people", insisting that a public official needn't represent the needs of any people who didn't vote for them.

This graph shows the "Ratio of corporate capital gains to total revenue by sector" comparing Finance, insurance and real estate (NAICS codes 52 and 531) with everybody else.
It's not homeowners who are gouging the market, it's only the capital investors.

PS, this person is only paying about $1300-$1400/mo rent on average. Many of us pay way more than that. Almost double for me, and that's well below the market for my neighborhood.

Can't be stressed enough. If you can afford rent you can afford a mortgage. You're already paying somebody else's mortgage on property they don't live in, to build their wealth and assets so they can take more property.

Gentle reminder that the last residential school in Canada closed in 1998. That's some years after I graduated high school, meaning there were children my age living through this atrocity. Good news, I am employed again full-time, but only temporarily for a couple months. I will be working in the print shop for the AUPE (Alberta Union of Provincial Employees), an organization which you all know that I love and support! <3 Shame it's only a contract position, but coming off of it after receiving full-time income for a couple months will be a lot easier than getting laid off after already being destitute with a year of part-time hours which almost hurt more than it helped.

I have a #MutualAidRequest. I had my bicycle and trailer stolen from a break-in of my garage. Bike is my only transportation but I do have a second summer bike. However, it needs a new bottom bracket or the bearings repacked in the BB. So I have an appointment with the community bike shop to repair it on Sunday, but I don't have enough money and it took a week to make an appointment. Hoping for used parts but worst case /w new parts may be $50-$70.

I tried to use my bank this morning. Last time I tried to talk to a teller, the security guard, an old white-haired man, saw me leave my bicycle at the front door with my two small children in the trailer, so he immediately ran up to me, stuck his chest in my face, and demanded in his cop voice, "Can I help you?!" I left.
This time, I tried to use my bank account and he stopped me at the door, told me I couldn't even bring my bike into the foyer.

Also, if you "don't use pronouns" then that means that you call every noun and every person by name, and never substitute the name of the noun or person with a pronoun placeholder. That means you don't say, "John ate an apple and he liked it", you say "John ate an apple and John liked the apple". It just means that you have the language skills of a toddler.
