“Budget 2025 and the government’s three-year fiscal plan is a blueprint to starve health care, education, and public service workers into submission,” says AUPE Vice-President Sandra Azocar.
“Is the government moving money around to help hard-working Albertans, or are they manufacturing a deficit so that the government can cry poor at the bargaining table?
AUPE members are prepared to fight for what we deserve – on the picket line if necessary.”

Trump says those minerals are worth $500 billion, so he wants $250 billion payback forthe $65 billion which the Biden administration has given towards Ukraine since the Russian invasion of 2022, when Trump has done nothing but END his predecessor's support. This is nothing less than terrorism.

Under executive order by Donald Trump, the US National Park Service has removed the T from LGBT and erased trans people from the "LGB civil rights" movement which they now call "lesbian, gay, bisexual (LGB)". Black Trans women were essential to the Stonewall riots, but 50 years later are still being murdered at an unprecedented rate. Now their contribution has been completely erased.

The ultra-wealthy lack humanity on a level which the rest of us will never be able to understand.
We can debate with each other, and eventually humanity will win over most of us without the outside interference.
The VIPs live in a completely different realm of thought, with no value for our human lives. When we allow them to take over and control our government institutions, we have lost it all.
Then they convince us that it was all the fault of the X voters or the O voters.
Know your enemy.

We are all screwed, as we're all living in SG2 right now.
Every vote people choose X or O, often making bad choices for selfish reasons. What's important is that we recall the humanity in all of us, no matter what our vote.
Where does all the money and demand for the game come from? Not organ harvesting, but from the ultra-wealthy VIPs who fund this all to make us fight among each other. Yet they're the ones who put us in debt and destitution in the first place, to create their obscene wealth.

Exactly! Like on Facebook for instance, every single person complains that they can't even see what their friends post, only large groups they aren't even in, for which Facebook recommends (force feeds) content for them. When they do finally see a post from their own friends list, it's 11 days old.
I'm sure the reason I get no engagement on bsky is because of algorithms. They don't like me.
Mastodon is organic, and real people seem to like my posts well enough here to make them spread.

Yeah, I don't get it. No matter how big my list is or how long I've been there, I never get engagement on bigger sites like I do on Mastodon.
The only time I've gotten Mastodon-like engagement on Meta was when I posted a picture of my game character dressed in rainbows, and everybody piled on with hate for "you alphabet people". That's not the type of engagement I want to see, obviously.
I had engagement on Twitter 15 years ago, but then it was probably more the size of Mastodon now.

Note that statistically, the average wages in the US are only slightly higher than in Canada, but the majority of Canadians (56 percentile) are better off than their American counterparts.
In other words, in the US wealth inequality is far greater. The rich are richer and the poor are poorer.
So the irony of them comparing the high GDP in the US compared to Canada is that they are only proving that the US has greater wealth inequality. The wealthiest nation has the poorest of people.

The entire goal of the BCC’s “Can-do”’ political campaign is to petition government to lower taxes on the wealthiest corporations (not small business).
According to them, these are the “job creators” who procure funding of “critical public services” by profiting off labour so that YOUR taxes can pay for these public services while you petition the government to reduce THEIR taxes so YOUR taxes can pay for the public infrastructure which they use to build THEIR business.
That’s a mouthful, huh?

This is one of the worst-ever cases of "trickle-down economic" spin co-opting anti-capitalist terminology.
It's no accident that they say "We can close the wealth gap", which to any normal person means to address the great wealth inequality between the rich and the poor.
Instead, the Business Council of Canada describes the wealth gap like “our large Canadian monopolies make smaller profits compared to larger US monopolies".
Who considers this a problem? The monopoly CEOs who make up the BCC.

If anybody thinks that workers will have ANY rights or power (or as they like to spin it, "right to work") without collective bargaining, then they live in a dream world. We are nothing alone. We only get a share if we take it together.
Unless our entire system is overhauled of course, but that would require even greater concerted effort from the masses, unlike any Union strike or wildcat job action we have ever seen. Unions are the step towards legislation.

Deregulation isn't working for regular people. Price gouging has made our electricity bills the highest in the country. At the same time, our grid has become fragile and volatile. Grid alerts have become common, forcing hard working people to cut their own electricity use to avoid blackouts.
But we can bring prices back under control and make our power cleaner, greener, and more reliable. Regulating our electricity again will put our power back in the hands of Albertans.

But apparently, some are telling me that the reason why renters pay so much more to rent is because the property owners are assuming all the risk for them.... :D Yeah, THAT's what we're paying for. Sure.

PS, this person is only paying about $1300-$1400/mo rent on average. Many of us pay way more than that. Almost double for me, and that's well below the market for my neighborhood.

2024-10-29 15:39:12 GMT

Can't be stressed enough. If you can afford rent you can afford a mortgage. You're already paying somebody else's mortgage on property they don't live in, to build their wealth and assets so they can take more property.
"I have contributed around $160,000 to various landlords over the last 10 years as a renter. Never missed rent. Can't qualify for a mortgage. It's not about coffee and Netflix.
It's about a predatory system of housing that uses a basic human right as an investment opportunity."

Making a perfectly normal left-hand turn on a bicycle in Edmonton is all the traffic behind you screaming, "Get out of the fucking lane!" with all the traffic in front of you screaming "This isn't a fucking crosswalk!" then dozens of strangers on social media screaming "Cyclists never obey the rules of the road!" when you get home.
But keep your mouth shut and don't you dare say a word back to them or they'll cry, "Wow, that was uncalled for!", or ram you off the road, or threaten to.

I saw a Global newscast the other day and the host there was echoing Trump but in the context of Poilievre, claiming that "it is fact that Trudeau could knock on Pierre's door right now and tell him the names [of the Conservative MPs on the top classified watch list]" because "he is the Prime Minister and he can just declassify it."
Then I switched to CTV and they were playing the homophobic, transphobic, charismatic Church of the Rock preaching about "fruity Christians".

This is EXACTLY the play made by Kremlin propagandists from Russia, every time a video is released showing Ukranians massacred by Russian missile strikes. Gentle reminder that the last residential school in Canada closed in 1998. That's some years after I graduated high school, meaning there were children my age living through this atrocity. It wasn't history for me, it was current events but not news because noone would tell us about it, and still try to hide the truth (as our Alberta Premier says anti-vaxxers were the most discriminated group in her time).

I have a #MutualAidRequest. I had my bicycle and trailer stolen from a break-in of my garage. Bike is my only transportation but I do have a second summer bike. However, it needs a new bottom bracket or the bearings repacked in the BB. So I have an appointment with the community bike shop to repair it on Sunday, but I don't have enough money and it took a week to make an appointment. Hoping for used parts but worst case /w new parts may be $50-$70.

I tried to use my bank this morning. Last time I tried to talk to a teller, the security guard, an old white-haired man, saw me leave my bicycle at the front door with my two small children in the trailer, so he immediately ran up to me, stuck his chest in my face, and demanded in his cop voice, "Can I help you?!" I left.
This time, I tried to use my bank account and he stopped me at the door, told me I couldn't even bring my bike into the foyer.

So what I'm getting about the Blue Screen of Death IT outage is that you'd have to be using CloudStrike cloud services with Microsoft 365 apps to be affected, and the easy way to tell is to go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\ and look for a CloudStrike directory. If you don't have that directory (like me), then you're good. If you do, then you can delete any file matching C-00000291*.sys to avoid any problems. In Safe Mode of course, if you've already experienced a crash.

Another interesting thing to notice is how in many languages nouns all have binary gender assumptions. Most nouns are either feminine or masculine in languages like French or Spanish for instance, and English is the exception where most nouns are gender-neutral, using the pronoun of "it". I guess English is just that woke, lol. :D

Also, if you "don't use pronouns" then that means that you call every noun and every person by name, and never substitute the name of the noun or person with a pronoun placeholder. That means you don't say, "John ate an apple and he liked it", you say "John ate an apple and John liked the apple". It just means that you have the language skills of a toddler.

2024-07-12 14:54:18 GMT

Let me make one thing clear: If you "don't believe in genders" then you don't believe in masculinity and femininity. You don't believe in "manliness" or the "roles of women" (don't worry, I don't either). Traditional society created genders, not "the woke Left". Gender definitions like non-binary and gender-fluid are essentially attempts at rejecting binary gender norms, but while staying within the system of gender-classifications which traditional society has forced on us.
