I picked the funny answer, because of course I did. I'm gonna rant in your general direction now. You're not the target of this rant, but you're gonna hear it anyway. Prepare thyself.
I'm kinda getting sick of the "bad fandom" nonsense. People say the same shit about every single popular piece of media. Every. Single. One. Like yeah, no shit. It's popular. There's gonna be people who like it that you don't like. That's how the world works! And then someone's like "wow, this fandom is so toxic! I had a really bad experience with the whole fandom!", so you prod further and it turns out it was actually just like 3 or 4 people being awful and inciting a social media dogpile. Meanwhile, 99% of people in the fandom had no idea it even happened.
Newsflash, a fandom isn't one entity. It's lots of individual people and a few of them suck.

Rust's compile times aren't that bad, especially after the first compile. I'm working on a project using egui in rust and only wait a second or 2 to compile after the first. Then, since I'm targeting web, I use trunk and have it watch the filesystem to recompile and refresh the webpage whenever I save. It's quite nice, actually.
Desktop apps are a pain tho, because any tool like this will make the window pop up over top everything. You can double check if there's a tool for Python and gtk that forces a css reload at runtime tho.
