I do the same! I had a piece sitting in the shop for a year. I finally threw it on the burn pile. The day it was going to burn, it came to me! I made it onto a wine bottle holder that I sold for $100!

Looks really good! I need to try and grain cutting boards. I didn't have a safe way to flatten them as all I had was a lunch box planer. Now I have a onefinity CNC to do that job so I need to give them a try.

My cousin had a wet bar installed and has an undermount sink with this bamboo board that fits flush above the sink. She didn't really like it so I made her one to replace it with.

Attended my first craft show yesterday. I sold out of the clay pot stands! Sold several cutting boards. I was surprised that I didn't sell and wine racks. I also had interest in some custom framing and hope to hear from some of the folks that took business cards. Another lady wants me to make her a game called 'Pegs and Jokers'. Never heard of it but I will see if I can find some info on it today.
Over the next few days I need to take pictures of the rest and get them for sale on my website. I wonder, can I sell them on Nostr?

it's so nice to have a home for everything. it makes projects so much easier when every flat surface isn't covered with tools and materials. I'm looking forward to a few shop furniture projects of this summer to free up some of my flat surfaces in my little garage workshop.

I started woodworking only a few years ago when I moved into town. for the first time living within City limits I didn't have a ranch to take care of and I needed something to do! I think the only new piece of equipment I bought was a miter saw because I needed it for a project and I couldn't find one used. my old Craftsman table saw was $50. a floor standing drill press and bandsaw together were $200. I'm bought an old Delta lunch box planer for $60 that took me two weeks to completely take apart and refurbish. I have some hand tools that were purchased new but those were the major items that I make an unbelievable amount of projects with. I even source most of my hardwood lumber out of a dumpster or scrap piles at local cabinet shops. it doesn't take much in order to make beautiful things.

I like my handle much longer and the horizontal body thicker because it keeps my fingers away from the little bit of the blade that sticks through the top of the wood. Sometimes I have too much blade sticking through to make it easier for my weak old craftsman 113 table saw which makes the push stick even more important.

another thing I learned was giving them shade. I put a tarp over top but I didn't want it to blow in the wind so I strong twine back and forth over top of the tarp to hold it down. it worked fantastic.

I built a chicken tractor very similar to that. I found that four panels was too much for me to move by hand over tall grass. I wish I had made it smaller. I had only used it for meat birds.

This was an experiment that I tried with small scraps that I had no other use for. It was very time consuming but I really like how it turned out. It made sense to make a very long piece in order to use the most scraps so I was able to cut it into thirds for a matching set.

I pulled this piece out of a dumpster at a local cabinet shop. When building cabinets or furniture for people you're not able to take artistic license and use sapwood or inconsistency in grain because someone is expecting their cabinets to look uniform. Pieces like this are unusable to them. I think that the uniqueness of the wood is what makes it the most beautiful.

I've used scraps to build different wine bottle racks. Very few of them I use the CNC for. I purchased a three and a quarter inch forstner bit and that gets the job done. when I get out to the shop later today I'll take a few pictures of the wine racks that I have left and post them.

TIP FOR VALENTINE'S DAY CARDS
For those of us who are less romantic but still expected to be, I have a great tip for your Valentine's Day cards. Even though we buy a card we are still expected to write something heartfelt on the inside to go along with Hallmark's words. The problem isn't that I don't love her, the problem is that I struggle with the words to convey my feelings so I came up with a solution.
When you're picking out your card to purchase, pick out a second card that does convey your feelings to plagiarize! Or at least use it for ideas.
For those of you that are romantically impaired, tell me that tip isn't worth some stats!

My neighbor, that I hadn't met, needed lids made for a product his business is working on. Since he always saw me working out off my garage he asked if I could build these for them.

This is my second batch and it's a nice little profit. The lids go on tanks that hold greywater which is circulated through another tank with plants that clean the water.

I got five lids stained yesterday and three more sanded and put together. Only a couple more to go and I can deliver them to my client. I'll have to put those off until tomorrow. Today I have to fix a leaky toilet and this afternoon I have a job interview. Wish me luck!

What did your dad make with his CNC mostly? Learning the software has been the hardest part. Back in what feels like a different lifetime I was a network administrator but it is been 20 years since then. Some of the software I use could be used for engineering and it took a long time to for me to be able to go from design to the machine.

Thanks. I've been building it up since covid started. I live inside city limits for the first time in my life and I needed something to do. Lots of refurbished tools and I got YouTube certified! Now I'm doing jobs for local businesses and have turned it into a nice little side hustle.

I don't have chickens right now but I used to bring in new baby chicks every 6 months so that I still had production while the older ones were molting. Some would come into production late in the fall and basically be forced to give an egg a day even through the colder and darker months.
