Frankly they can't afford to stop now. Please note I am talking here about AI, not LLMs.
They have invested too much personal / professional capital in AI solving all their problems that to change now would endanger their future prospects.
Instead they are trying to figure out ways to blame their employees for their company's problems while at the same time bemoaning how easy their competition has it.
Anything else is a serious blow to their self image / worth.

Before he took office in 2025, various people commented that Congress could act as a stop on his shitnanigans, to them I responded that out corrupt SCOTUS had given him the authority to override Congress... And he has done so.
People commented that the courts would block him, to which I responded that the courts have no enforcement tools unless he gives it to them... And he has not done so, further he simply ignores them.

Iron Butterfly's In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida has to be on the list just so they can test their stereo's audiographic responsiveness when the drum solo moves around the listener.
Very first time I heard the album, my father had me use his very expensive headphones and I can confirm that his stereo was extremely responsive. Hearing the drum kit move from left to right and back, then go up and over front to back was amazing.

Do you have a solution? That is not going to throw anyone under the bus? I am not saying it is right, but unless we come up with a solution, someone is always going to be told "screw you". Is it right? No. Is it fair? No. But as has been pointed out here multiple times, Congress is incapable of solving it and without a solution, someone is going to get screwed.

According to a 2023 or 2024 Axios report, roughly 94% of all US households have bank accounts. Now while the remaining 6% do make up roughly 18-19 million people, we are always going to have to say "screw you" to someone. This, or something very like it, is going to have to happen. Checks are far too easy to abuse and cash is not much better.

Most Americans have credit and debit cards, so going electronic is less of an issue for them than you might realize. Having said that, yes there is a segment of society that eschews banks and instead waste their money with check cashing services... Those are the people who are being targeted with this BS proposal.

I don't think it is so much a population decline as a decline in working populations. Because of the one child policy, the farmers are drastically under populated right now for the amount of foodstuffs that China will need. Additionally a large number of "children" who would take over the farms have been enticed into joining the tech and support sectors. China has been very strategic about it, using BRICS and similar organizations to buy up supplement the food shortages

The US' only real chance at this point is for the Chinese generational break caused by the one child policy. So fat it really hasn't affected China, but there have been hints from the younger generations that they don't want to be farmers or manual laborers. This has the *potential* to severely hamper China's future stability, but the party has been largely successful in their trade agreements for food and manual labor. If the break doesn't happen, the US has no chance

So far, there has not been a single movie I have seen, after reading the book even reached a level of "meh". Some have given me visuals that were better than what I had imagined.
But, I have seen a few movies and later read the book and a couple of them, I preferred the movie. Clockwork Orange, The Net, Die Hard, Fight Club are good examples of this.

You are making one of the same mistakes that Chump, his sycophants, and MAGAts make. Most homeless people are not gypsies, they are homeless. This distinction is critical because gypsies tend to move around and live outside the community. The homeless do not have the luxury of living outside the community, instead the have to live within the community, but without reliable shelter.

Some people will tell you that Chump's EO regarding H1-B visa costs will keep that from happening, after all $100,000 is a lot of money, but they are not thinking longer term. The average, and even median, H1-B worker is currently making six figures a year. Companies will simply write this off as the cost of doing business and over the next few years go back to claiming that the American people are too uneducated to do the work.

Seems like this is something they should approach MVP for.
For those not familiar, MVP (Million Veteran Project) has collected DNA and medical history from over a million veterans volunteers for just this type of research.
I am not sure if MVP is part of the VA or if they just work very closely with the VA, but between the MVP data and the VA researchers they could have had a clearer picture

I can see that as being part of it. Crime does pay after all, but I think the answer is deeper though
These types of crime are a lot easier to do now than they were 50 years ago, or even 10 years ago due to stores downsizing their staffs
Also due to the downsizing, it is a great deal harder to get a "first" or "entry level" job, creating much larger pool of people to engage on these types of crime

Democrats will not win this just by voting to take control of the house. They need to take control of school boards, City councils, clerk's offices, state houses and comptrollers as well

Possibly silly question. You state that `a planet needs to be close to a red dwarf to be warm enough for liquid water`. Couldn't the gravitational contortions, from the three suns, maintain enough geological activity to keep it warm enough for surface water?
IIRC Jupiter's Io is pretty warm due to gravitational fluctuation induced geological activity near the surface.

Not fan-boying for them, but you can remove the AI mode and go back to their normal search. When you go to google, just below the search bar there is a small menu and it is set to `all` by default. You can go to the right and either select `web` or `more`->`web` and it will remove the AI search completely.

But it goes even further when you look at other things like movies, TV shows, and music... In the 90s it would take 5-10 minutes to download your favorite Journey song... Now you can stream it with more fidelity than the average person can hear. In the 90s if you wanted to watch a movie at home you had to drive to the nearest block buster, now you can stream it at 4K resolution

Very thought provoking... I would say though that a lot of the reason has to do with the internet... The internet changed dramatically in the early 2000s and allowed people to "live" in the now in ways they never really could before. You want to play M.U.L.E., download a C-64 emulator and the ROM and you are back in the 80s, you want to play EverQuest, download it and join one of the TLP servers.

I don't work in the industry, and don't even play one on TV, but given what we have seen on Twitter and Facebook, I can't really see any of these as reasons for journalists to jump ship.
In fact, every time one of the MSM journalists talk about social media, they say they are on Twitter and Facebook because they of the broad "consumer" base, demonstrating that they couldn't care less about moderation, censorship, linking, or the extra expenses of hosting their own.

I believe you are using MySQL for your back end, and if so, you can set the entire database or entire tables to use case sensitive utf8.
IIRC you can use an ALTER statement to alter an existing database or table make it case sensitive

Years ago, I had some severe medical issues and ended up, after insurance coverage, owing around $20K USD in the first year. And then another $5K - $11K a year over the next 5ish years.
I was able to get out from under that medical debt, the hard way and I, for one, do not have an issue with these people having their debt forgiven... More power to them.

I tend to do this every few weeks on my systems;
apt-get -f --purge autoremove
That command will remove all packages that are no longer needed based on installed package dependency, but it will also do a deep removal of packages that they depended on. This helps to reduce and control bloating on Debian based systems.

Just in the last month;
1. Physical machine booting up, getting a valid IP address and route from DHCP but being able to ping anything on the internet.
2. VM SSH'ing to a specific IP address but getting to a machine with a different IP address.
3. Deleting a file (successful) but still seeing the file on the filesystem with a 6 month old timestamp.
Been intentionally breaking things in my home lab to practice / learn new technologies. I am a human chaos monkey at times. 🤣
