In Islam Christ is not considered the son of God.

The implication of this is Allah who is all knowing, sent a doppelganger to die in the place of Jesus and in doing so deceived the world. because Allah who is all knowing would obviously understand that people who observe this crucifixion would then create a religion based on that perception of Jesus.
And whenever I then press the question okay if somebody's genuine belief in that religion is held does that person go to heaven or hell?
All of this occurred before the prophet Muhammad or The Quran was revealed. The church is older than the Quran and its institutions preceded it.
If those followers whose belief is genuine and they are then presented with the Quran and its truths but they reject it, because their belief which was established prior, How does God judge them when God deceived them into that false belief in the first place?

Talking to Muslim apologists (and again I think these people are larping) is honestly some of the most mentally taxing things I've done.
Like whenever I talk about God, and eternity, the perception of time, free will and all creation we're kind of like in alignment which is surprising.

@nprofile…z7zr I got three storage VPS for discount and installed glusterfs which I use as a datastore for proxmox. You could install MinIO and make your own S3 bucket. However I GNU/heard that MinIO did some fuck shit and closed their repo so Idk if that's still a good idea.
I would just use backblaze.

@nprofile…pm95 Generally I wouldn't do it this way either. I don't think this would work in the most restrictive cases.
I've GNU/heard form iska and eric that Russia and China on a regional basis block wireguard+openvpn connections. I really don't know how to get around that if they're blanket packet sniffing/blocking protocols at a hardware level.
My use case is just very unfortunate.

It really isn't going to get better till I put on a cache, and even then the first time it loads into cache it's going to be slow.
Starlink is the end goal but I'm only doing that before I leave the US.

regardless I'm deleting those backups, I didn't have a retention policy set so it just continued holding indefinately. GlusterFS acts weird when you run out of space so it wouldn't even free space when I removed. But I got it fixed now I think.

@nprofile…6wcx I'm using PVE and PBS, but then I backup my 4TB VM, even though the VM is is only using realistically 2.3TBs it still creates a 4TB image.
I could mend this by converting the image to qcow2 but I was trying to get off the file format. I could also do btrfs/zfs dataset remote replication, but all of that is not supported in PBS and I was tired of building my own solutions.

Right so I'll scream into the void the issues while updating mastodon from 4.4.0-alpha ot 4.6.0-alpha (both are chuckya fork)
I had an old version of yarn and when I ran apt update I got an error regarding a pgp file or something
I commented out the single line in /etc/apt/sources.list/yarn.list or something and then I stopped getting errors when running apt update.
Newer mastodon needs redis 7 I only had redis 6. Ubuntu 24.04 has redis 7 so I just updated to that.
You also need node 20.x or higher
I run

I needed specifically ruby 3.8.0 not the newist 4.0.1 so reinstall the rbenv is typically what I do
ran bundle install && yarn install
I get this error
LoadError: Could not open library 'vips.so.42': vips.so.42: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. (LoadError)
this one I vaugely remember running into this while on my phone. There is literally no documentation or issue reports for this error, but it's basically yarn/ruby/bundle/or whatever dude I don't care what it is, is expecting vips to be installed on the system as a basis for the ruby gems.
I tried apt install libvips|libvips42 both don't work on ubuntu 24.04
The correct package is libvips42t64 (literally wtf) but that won't work either
I needed to run the following to add the package
sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu noble universe"
sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu noble-updates universe"
sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu noble-security universe"

That finally worked and progressed me further than I had been when I tried updating via my phone.
when I ran a bundle rails exec rails assets:precompile
I got a bunch of errors regarding the styles/tangerineui* javascript. So I just deleted them (I'll fix it later)
While running RAILS_ENV=production bundle exec rails db:migrate
I got stop errors regarding
PG::DuplicateColumn: ERROR: column "parent_status_id" of relation "conversations" already exists (PG::DuplicateColumn)
Which is some database shit that just says something already exists but is trying to create it again.
I went into psql like so
sudo -u postgres psql mastodon_production
INSERT INTO schema_migrations (version) VALUES ('lmao') ON CONFLICT DO NOTHING;
\q
RAILS_ENV=production bundle exec rails db:migrate:up VERSION=lmao
And then the rest of the upgrade went fine. I probably left out something but it's not like anyone is reading this anyway

Good evening everyone.
After a turbulent two months for me, I'm finally settled in a location where I can get back to doing computer things.
I have been delaying updating this instance for a while due to being without a computer and troubleshooting shell on a smartphone via ssh is painful. However I have secured colocation and VM space, I have tested function and developed an okayish backup solution during my time in Japan a few months ago.
The two instances on the chopping block are mstdn.starnix.network and pl.starnix.network.
I'm more familar with Mastodon so that's what I'll be starting on tonight. The pleroma instance is actually already updated but if memory serves there was something peculiar that I had to do to fix an update which I would not want to replicate in the reinstall so I need some time to figure that out.
This instance will go in and out of connection as I perform the update and migration. The chance of dataloss during this operation is very minimal and would only be applied to remote instances media which can be refetched anyway.
I'm caffinated, well feed and rested so hopefully I can finish this in one day.

I used to run two widescreen monitors in portrait mode I thought this would have been similar unfortunately the resolution is too high for the size so it makes text hard to read.
