Meditation (of any kind): slow-the-f*ck-down; let “it” (whatever it is) come to you in their own time. Eyes open. Eyes closed. Sitting. Walking. Swimming. Lying down. Whatever. Just s-l-o-w down.
As for relating to women: when we masculine-identified men slow down and hold safe space, women relax. They begin to be they are. We get to enjoy them as they are, not as we want them to be. Trust ensues. And whatever may come of that .

Yes. It will. Pretty much guaranteed. A meditation practice will help young men (& us older men too) interact in mutually beneficial ways with women. I’m betting it’s the only thing that will have consistently good results.
But, who wants to develop a consistent meditation practice?

Winter squash in the front garden.
My approach to gardening is very much a lazy man’s way. With the exception of watering (and most of the garden is on a drip irrigation system that was installed only because a much more industrious -less lazy- friend made it happen), I’m a master of neglect. Over the years I’ve found only a few plants that cohabitate well with me. Squashes (summer and winter) among them. With little attention or care these plants produce an abundance of food that I get to enjoy throughout the fall, winter, and spring in a wide range of dishes.

After watching McDavid clips (seen while reviewing Lafleur highlights, after his death), I came across Dryden’s book on Scotty Bowman. I re-read parts of it during the Oilers run to game 7 last spring.
I have to admire Leafs fans for their doggedness. I was lucky to become a fan during one of hockey’s dynasties. Habs of the 70s were amazing. Among the GOAT. I’m feeling these Oilers may have that too. And I’m lucky to be riding the enthusiasm on their coattails. #hnom

I became a Habs fan because of Ken Dryden in the 1971 Cup run. Then in 1979 I just stopped. Zero interest. Until I saw McDavid highlights in 2023. Now I am a bona fide Oilers fan. I am quietly curious about the Habs. But I find it hard to watch them & not see Robinson, Savard, Lapointe, Lafleur et all flying around the rink. It’s been strange. To be so passionate. To abruptly lose interest. And 40+ years later to feel the passion again, for a new fast, fun club. #hnom

It truly is impressive that so many of us across the country, who may have little or no connection w NB, are so thoroughly thrilled that the Cons were trounced. And by Liberals too!
Minor quibble: bigger than the Leafs, yes. Maybe not hockey. I think I intentionally watched a Leafs game (that didn’t include my Habs or my Canucks) maybe twice in my life. Not sure how to gauge Canadian passion for hockey online, w five NHL clubs in Canada.

She was, however, a persuasive cover girl in her smile (great smile!) & high heels on the muddy tracks on a piece of forest industry equipment.
The most telling political memory I have of her is as keynote to the Premier’s Breakfast where she failed to address the host (& legacy) industry issues, spent 20 minutes promoting the province’s “new” economic driver, LNG. It was tone deaf. It was not appreciated. Not that these folks would EVER vote NDP…

ps I photo’d her once in high heels on muddy logging equipment for the cover of an industry magazine. She was very likeable & fun to work with. She had the industry folk well in-hand, there and at their convention. Fortunately BCers were not so easily charmed. Sadly, Horgan was the NDP alternative.

My preferred scenario is an NDP minority with Greens holding several seats and the balance of power. With a handful of independents, and BC Cons with less than current BC United. Previous NDP-Green minority was significantly hobbled by Horgan’s duplicity (on many things, from Site C to fiddling with election dates to undermining his naive Green “partner”) and the naïveté of the then Green leader.

I am fortunate to have Vancouver’s premiere piano tuner as a good friend. He’s schooled me in jazz and classical, and we now exchange our esoteric playlists. Sometimes it’ll be something like this. Sometimes an almost forgotten pop gem. He knows all the contemporary pianists so he’s also steering me to different interpretations of pieces. He’s also writing a book. Working title, Don’t Shoot the Piano Tuner. So we talk books and writing too. As I said, I’m a lucky guy.
