My friend let her daughter get into this at 10. That poor girl gave up all activities except makeup. As a teen, her worth is based on appearance now. She's a mess. Failing school, on anti-depressants, sullen, spends hours on appearance daily. She has no goals or enthusiasm and looks like crap too.
Total failure to parent.
I said to her mom "You can throw the makeup out. You can say no."
But she and her husband believe kids can do what they want, and this is the result. They ruined her potential.

Ranked choice voting does help with that. More candidates, more diversity in candidates (not all wealthy and white), and "lesser of two evils" voting is a lot less likely. Saves money and headache by avoiding a primary also.

I wouldn't say she was truly self-made. She slept with Mayor of San Francisco Willie Brown in his 60s when she was in her 20s who appointed her to a public position she wasn't qualified for, and he was her "in" to being a favorite of the Democratic Party. She worked her way up, but only because she played their game and did as she was told.
She lost, I think, 97% or her White House staff to quitting in the first 3.5 years because she's completely incompetent at her job. But she plays the game and she's not quite demented, and she checks the identity politics boxes, and she's a friend to corporations and Israel so she gets propped up.

Ok, so speaking of height, is it just me, or are almost all TIMs big hulking specimens? Like petite men exist, but those seem rarely to be the ones declaring they are women.
Is it because the bigger men are already used to dominating and trans is next level domination? Or because, if they can force others (particularly women and children) to play along *despite very obvious evidence to the contrary*, it gives them an even greater sense of control/arousal/power/entitlement, etc.?

I had a neighbor as a kid who had a growth abnormality. Both her parents were tall; she barely grew at all. But they were hippies who didn't believe in modern medicine. Or shoes. Or teaching their kids to read.
She's now a very short adult and this could have been helped had she got the needed growth hormone as a kid.
