There are 2 kinds of people concerned with conspiracy theories:
Truthers and Liers
Note: Not "liArs", but "liErs". They are those who would prefer to believe things, even when shown that they're lies, because the lies fit their preconceived ideas.
Truther: Observes → hypothesizes → tests → repeats those 3 many times → eventually comes to a loosely-held conclusion.
Lier: Feels afraid → makes a tightly-held conclusion → forces observations to fit that conclusion → spreads fear to lead others down the same path.
If you've been fooled by a lier (or a liar), I don't blame you. We've all been wrong before.
But what do you do when you've been shown that you're wrong?
Do you admit it, learn, change, and move on? Or do you double-down, ignore evidence, and continue on as you were?

I wasn't going to respond to you at all. As a friend once said to me: "Never try to reason with the unreasonable." If -- despite my questions above that you never responded to, and hundreds of other everyday observations that would lead any sane and honest person to conclude that the Earth is a globe -- if after all that you still choose to bury your head in the sand and believe the Earth is flat, then there's nothing I can say here that could help you. But perhaps someone else will stumble on this conversation one day, and be persuaded to acknowledge the truth rather than the lies propagated by flat earthers, so there's a remote chance this will be worth it. Also, I unexpectedly had some extra time earlier today, so I decided to start tackling each of these one by one. Okay, here I go!
"Maybe start by explaining, with specificity, what gravity is and then pose an experiment once could perform in order to independently validate that claim."
Sure! Gravity is the force that pulls objects with mass toward each other. Back in 1798, a man named Cavendish demonstrated it in a lab by suspending two small metal balls on a wire and placing heavier balls nearby. The slight twist of the wire as gravity pulled them together let him calculate the force, and this experiment has been repeated with precision ever since. You could even try it with the right setup.
"Explain the CMBr."
The Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation, or CMBr, is a faint glow of microwave energy coming from every direction in space. It demonstrates that the universe is spherical and expanding. You might question how everything began (which is great! That's the first step to scientific discovery -- just don't stop there, and don't fill in the rest with only what you want to see!), but this radiation is a real thing we can detect, and it doesn’t match a "universe" with a flat, unmoving Earth. Instead, it supports the idea that we live on a globe that’s part of a much larger universe.
"Explain the fact that not a single experiment exist to prove movement."
I'm assuming you mean the Earth's movement, and there are many simple experiments and observations that support a moving Earth. Take Foucault’s pendulum, for instance: a simple swinging weight that shifts its path over hours because the Earth is rotating beneath it. You can see this in action if you take the time to set up your own. Then there’s the Coriolis Effect, where the Earth’s rotation makes winds and ocean currents spin one way north of the equator and the opposite way south of it. Another one is called "stellar parallax", where nearby stars appear to shift slightly against the more distant ones as the Earth orbits the Sun, something astronomers have tracked since 1838. And let's not forget the sun, moon, and stars moving counterclockwise around the celestial north pole from the perspective of those in the northern hemisphere, clockwise around the celestial south pole from the perspective of those in the southern hemisphere, and simply straight east-to-west for those living along the equator.
"Explain long distance observations that in[v]alidate the curvature claim."
This is an old one! 😂 Probably based on the incorrect "8 inches per mile squared" formula, right? That math is only useful over short distances (it's still not correct in those instances, but the errors in such small areas are negligible, so it's good enough), and it measures the curvature of a parabola, not a globe. Much more importantly, that formula doesn't account for the observer's height, which allows us to see over the curvature of the Earth a little bit. The formula you should actually be using is a=√(r+h)²−r², in which "a" is the distance to the horizon, "r" is the Earth's radius (roughly equal to 3959 miles or 6371 km), and "h" is the eyesight level above mean sea level. Radio waves actually don't need a flat surface to travel as far as they do. They can hug the ground as surface waves, bounce off the ionosphere as sky waves, or even get trapped by weather patterns in something called "tropospheric ducting". Ham radio enthusiasts use these tricks daily to chat across continents, and no flat Earth is required.
"Try and dispute the kinematic and dynamic equivalence of the two proposed models."
Assuming that "the two proposed models" are the globe model the popular-yet-impossible flat Earth model with the north pole in the center and Antarctica surrounding the edge as an ice wall, the globe explains everything seamlessly and without any add-ons or exceptions, while the flat Earth model just doesn't, not even a little. From the Sun shining for 24 hours straight for many days in Antarctica during its summer, to there being a central location in the south (as well as the north) that anyone can find from any direction just by using the stars (and many have), to the flights from Santiago to Sydney over only water, to the pull of gravity being a little bit stronger at the poles than at the equator, to the movement of the stars changing as you travel north or south, to the ability to watch a sunset twice if you quickly rise to higher ground, to how seasons work, and on and on and on. None of these things are possible on any kind of flat Earth, but they're incredibly easy and straightforward on a globe.

So, when you put it all together, the evidence stacks up strongly for a globe Earth. Gravity keeps us in place and can be tested by anyone, the CMBr reveals a universe that’s expanding in every direction around us, experiments show the Earth spins on its axis and orbits around the sun, observations match a curved surface when you factor in the height of the observer, radio waves travel just fine around the globe's curve, and the flat Earth model can’t keep up with the facts we see every day. These are all reasons why I prefer to call flat Earth "FUD against reality".

As my favorite saying goes: "When an honest man discovers he is mistaken, he will either cease being mistaken or he will cease being honest." I've been mistaken about lots of things, and sometimes I chose to cling onto my pride and I ceased being honest. I later turned away from that, and chose instead to cease being mistaken, but it would have been so much easier if I had just chosen to cease being mistaken from the beginning. I don't know who you are, but still, for your sake, I hope you will make the right choice now, and avoid more regret/delusion later; that is, after all, what having a low time preference is all about. 😉

So is this your admission that the Earth is a globe? You said he forgot his fisheye lens, and yet the image clearly shows a faded dip on the right and the left, when compared to the center. And that's only 50 miles up! That's still incredibly close to the ground, considering how huge the Earth is (regardless of its shape).
Until you or other flat earthers can explain how a 24-hour sun in the Antarctican summer is possible, and how a single airplane can fly from Santiago to Sydney while only flying westward over water (and in only 13.5 hours, no less!), and whether the Ceremonial South Pole is closer to South America, Africa, or Australia, you and other flat earthers have nothing to stand on. If you ignore these problems with flat earth, then you are not interested in truth, but only in listening to and spreading lies.

Definitely misinterpretation. The Hebrew word that's often translated as "firmament" simply means "expanse", and can refer to an ocean, a field, a desert, etc. In fact, in Genesis 1: 20, the Hebrew language describes birds flying *over* the firmament. If the firmament is the expanse of land and/or water beneath them, this makes perfect sense, but if it's a dome above them, then it makes no sense at all.

It's also worth pointing out that I believe in an infinite God, the Creator of an infinite number of stars, planets, and galaxies. Such a Being is definitely worth my devotion. But a being that only created this little dome, and then makes us think we're seeing a sun, moon, local planets, and distant stars that all have the appearance and behavior of spheres but are actually just projections on the little dome, sounds like not only a finite being but a deceiver, and not a god at all, but much more like one of the false "gods" the Bible repeatedly warns against. But that's just my 2 sats.

I just got back from a networking meetup for small business owners in downtown Chattanooga. I met a lot of interesting people and collected a lot of business cards.
But everyone -- and I mean 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 -- was interested in what I'm doing at @npub1fdc…x779.
Across the board, from my own mother to the homeschooling families I taught last week, to the business owners I networked with this morning, I'm finding that people are interested in Bitcoin, but they're also too scared to look into it too deeply. What if they get bad information from an untrustworthy source? What if they make a mistake and buy a scam coin, or they buy Bitcoin and lose their private key? There are so many what-ifs and unknowns, the general public feels too intimidated and lost to take a step forward into this mysterious world.
There has never been a better time to teach about Bitcoin and demystify it for the general public. If we don't take advantage of this opportunity, then the crypto scammers most certainly will.

Replace "Nostr" with "Bitcoin", and "Primal" and "Amethyst" with the names of any two non-custodial Bitcoin wallets, and it would essentially mean the same thing.
With Bitcoin, you have a private key, and no matter which on-chain non-custodial wallet you put it into, you will have access to the same coins.
With Nostr, you also have a private key, and no matter which Nostr app you put it into, you will have access to the same posts, followers, people you follow, etc.
Primal is one such Nostr app. It's arguably the cleanest and nicest looking, but Amethyst gives its users more features, with the tradeoff of being a little more complex.

If it's false, I'll be mildly surprised and massively relieved -- many so-called prophecies have turned out false, especially when they're from the Apocrypha.
But I'll also be massively surprised that those who have repeatedly tried to take out Trump and are so desperate for him to not follow through with his plans would just sit back and allow him to be inaugurated.

Absolutely.
I grew up Mormon/Latter-day Saint, but started waking up to the truth about it about a year ago, so I'm not a Mormon anymore. Mormons have a similar belief, but of 3 degrees/levels in heaven, and it's similarly destructive:
- The Telestial Glory: For those who were liars, thieves, adulterers, etc, but who nevertheless fought on God's side against Lucifer before the Earth was created. They can abide the presence of the Holy Ghost, but not of Jesus or of the Father (who are 3 separate beings, but perfectly united, according to Mormons' interpretation of the Bible and other books they consider scripture). This glory is metaphorically comparable to the brightness of the stars (they often refer to 1 Corinthians 15: 40-41 for this stars, moon, and sun metaphor).
- The Terrestrial Glory: For those who believed in Jesus and never committed major sins, but weren't valiant in following Him. They can abide the presence of the Holy Ghost and of Jesus Christ, but not if the Father. This glory ismetaphorically comparable to the brightness of the moon.
- The Celestial Glory: For those who valiantly lived and sacrificed for God the Father and Jesus Christ, and held nothing back. They can abide the presence of the Holy Ghost, of Jesus Christ, and of the Father, and will continue to grow in light, knowledge, wisdom, power, and general godliness forever. This glory ismetaphorically comparable to the brightness of the sun.
They say that these are 3 degrees of Heaven, but what I realized while falling down the rabbit hole away from Mormonism that the first 2, along with the level of no glory, called "Outer Darkness", are actually 3 levels of Hell. Because anything less than living and growing eternally in the presence of God, and inheriting all that He has, is Hell. One either accepts Jesus as their Savior and cast all their sins upon Him or they don't. So any levels for those who choose not to would be levels of Hell, not of Heaven.
So, to your point, and John Calvin's, the doctrine of degrees of glory is also a deadly fiction of Satan's which nullifies the cross of Christ.

Here's a decent (not great, IMO, but good enough) explanation:

Here's my own explanation:
In the Apocrypha, in 2 Esdras 11 & 12, Ezra had a vision of a 3-headed eagle that represented the last of 4 powerful kingdoms in the last days. All 4 were seen by Daniel in (I think) Daniel chapter 7, and they were a bear (Russia), a lion (Great Britain), a leopard (though some translations say a panther, which would be Germany during the Third Reich), and an eagle (likely the United States). Ezra saw a lot more details about this "eagle kingdom", though.
In Ezra's vision, the eagle has 3 heads, and they're sleeping (they don't represent the 3 branches of the federal government... you'll see). The large feathers on the eagle's wings stand up one at a time, representing "kings" that would rule in this kingdom one at a time. One of them rules twice as long as any of the others. Later, the reign of two of them are cut short before their time. These line up really well with FDR (who was elected 4 times), JFK (whose "reign" was cut short by assassination), and Richard Nixon (whose "reign" was cut short when he resigned). All the other feathers stand up in their turn and go back down afterward, representing all the other presidents during the 20th century and beginning of this century.
But then it says that another one is cut short before its time, and that feather lines up with Trump's first term. If the prophecy is accurate, then his feather being cut short is likely referring to the election fraud 4 years ago. It then says that the next one (Biden) reigns for less time than the first Trump feather. Some say that this has already been fulfilled, since Biden hasn't really been in charge for a while (I'm not sure if that counts, personally, but we'll see).
Then it goes on to say that the next two feathers (Trump and Vance) "think in themselves to rule", but then the eagle's heads wake up, and one of them eats those two feathers before they can rise to power. So if this is a legit prophecy, then sometime before Trump is inaugurated, he and Vance will be taken out. But if they're sworn in, and especially if they're still fine by the end of Monday and into Tuesday, then the popular interpretation of the prophecy will no longer hold up. 😌
The prophecy goes on, though, to say that the middle head then rules over the whole world "with much oppression". Eventually it dies (though it's unclear how, IIRC), and another head rules and is even more evil, but it's not as competent as the first head. That head is then killed by the third head, which reigns with the worst evil, but the least competency, until the ruler that's represented by the third head commits suicide on their own bed.
After that, two more feathers stand up one at a time, but then the eagle (which was flying in the vision) lands. A lion (not the one representing Great Britain, but the "lion of the tribe of Judah" (representing Jesus Christ) comes to the eagle from the wilderness, talks to it a little (essentially chastising it for once being a great nation, and now being a pathetic shadow of its former self), and then eats the eagle, and reigns over the world in its place. And that's how the vision ends.
I may have gotten a few (or many) things wrong, but that's what I remember of it off the top of my head. On one hand, I hope it's not accurate; the prophecy would not only mean that Trump and Vance are about to be killed (which would be bad enough), but also that the next three leaders will be truly horrible and tyrannical, Luke nothing that western nations have ever seen. On the other hand, if it does happen, it means we're just that close to the second coming of Christ, and things will get a lot better afterward, but not before getting a whole lot worse in the short term.
Either way, we'll find out soon enough! Thanks for reading all of that!

My family and I just got back from Christmas carolling. The love and appreciation felt by our neighbors was palpable! One old man tearfully told us that he didn't think anyone did things like that anymore, and our surprise visit to his doorstep gave him more hope for the future.

We played a 3-hour game of Cities and Knights of Catan earlier this evening. Settlers are like pilgrims, so it's a bit of a Thanksgiving tradition for us to play it as a family.
I lost, in absolute last place, but my 12-year-old son won, and we all had a great time, so I'd say it was a complete success.

Yep. When my daughter was much younger than a 4th grader, it was hard for her to understand monetary value, so I explained it using bananas, which get spotty and then rot in real life, and fictitious "super bananas" which only get better and more delicious with time.
I told her that, for this analogy, bananas = fiat, and super bananas = Bitcoin.
Me: "How many super bananas would you want?"
Her: "As many as I can get!"
Me: "Great! When would you ever eat (spend) them?"
Her: "🤔 Only when I REALLY need to."
Me: "Good. How many rotten bananas can I give you for 1 super banana?"
Her: "🤔 Infinite...? No, wait! There's no amount you could ever give me!"
And that was when I knew that she understood Bitcoin.

In our pursuit of excellence, we must reclaim the word elite. Traditionally speaking, the elite were those who worked to improve their society. They were the leaders of men, leaders of industry and patrons of the art and beauty that fills the old towns strewn throughout Europe. Today’s elites are not elite – but parasites who seek to undermine society. They spend their time leaching from the producers, bloating the government with a bureaucratic managerial class, revising history and filling the minds of the young with toxic ideology. Their goal is to weaken our culture with degeneracy and ugliness. To sully our history, and leave the world ugly, unsafe and uninhabitable while they retire to their opulent mansions behind private security.
As a result, the word elite is today erroneously conflated with parasite. This has to change. We must rediscover its root, and take it back. It comes from Latin 𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘴, which means “choice” or “selected,” itself from 𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘦, “to choose” or “to select.” The PIE root of the word “elite” is 𝘭𝘦𝘨, which means “to collect” or “to gather.”
To be elite is to be the ‘selected’. The choicest or the selected means ‘the best’ and thus to be elite is to be the best in your field, to be the cream of the crop, to be distinguished and outstanding. 𝘐𝘯 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵, 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝙚𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙩.
Most people suffer from anti-elite syndrome. And while I can sympathize, their misunderstanding of the true meaning of the word causes them to point their vitriol in the wrong direction. In fact, many are so brainwashed by narratives of the average man, that they’ve come to hate anybody who excels. This disease of average is prevalent even in the Bitcoin space. You hear it when people say stupid things like “we are all Satoshi”, or celebrate being a “pleb”. This also has to change.
We are 𝙣𝙤𝙩 all Satoshi. Satoshi did something far greater than any of us probably ever will, and to lay claim to that is both arrogant and ignorant. Yes – I understand the reference to the whole Guy Fawkes thing – which is cute – but it’s extremely inaccurate and disingenuous.
Aspire to be “like” Satoshi in grandeur and virtue, but do not claim you are him.
Furthermore, the pleb thing is not just cringe, it’s hands down false, or will be soon enough. Just being in Bitcoin makes you part of tomorrow’s economic “elite”. Barring any mistake, you will wield significantly more financial and social power than someone who comes into Bitcoin a decade from now.
What will you do with that power? Of course, that is the focus of this book. It stands to reason that you must at some point come to terms with the fact that you are no longer a “pleb” but part of a small group of people who are 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵, economically “elite.” You should recognise this and begin to develop the attributes of a more holistic individual, working toward excellence in other areas of your life. You cannot hide forever behind the pleb moniker as an excuse for sloth or poor behavior.
Humility is important of course: “stay humble”, but strive also to upgrade your behavior, enhance your vocabulary, deepen your knowledge, and become more cultured. With great power comes great responsibility. You don’t want to be some rich turd in a Lambo, or the eternal Twitter troll. There’s much more to life than that.
To operate on a higher energetic plane, we need a grander perspective. We must climb the mountain. We’ve been tricked into believing that “average” is ok, because it represents the little guy. But the truth is that there is nothing aspirational about being average. Average doesn’t require courage, passion, drive, responsibility or self control. Average is a low energy state, and a small story designed to make you give up on your dreams – to trade all you could possibly be for what you’re told you should be.
Pursuing excellence is one of the highest callings in life, as is the practice and cultivation of the virtues presented in this book. The world needs strong leaders – not trolls, plebs or parasites – there’s plenty of that around. As a Bitcoiner, this duty rests with you.

Question: What God did true believers serve before the Bible was compiled 1700 years ago? 🤔
Answer: The same God that's described in the Bible, of course, but they had no Bible to rely on then. So it seemed like they were serving the god of their own imagination, and only results (fulfilled prophecies, miracles, etc) were evidence that they were serving the true God of Reality.
God is unchanging; He's the same yesterday, today, and forever. So why can't we rely directly and personally on God the way the ancients did before the Bible, instead of using a man, a book, or anything else as an intermediary?
