Let's address a couple of questions here:
1) is this user toxic?
2) are they making a threat sending trans people to camps?
3) how do you address harassment?
4) how does toxicity currently work? How will it work?
Apologies, this should be a blog.

Similarly to dating apps - how do we reverse the trend with open social? Are there changes that could bring forward positive virtues instead of the polarization, doomscrolling, and lashing out that microblogging is known for at this point.

Every so often we hear from folks wondering if they may be suspended for blocking the moderation service. (tl;dr: no.) Let me explain the backstory behind this bit of Bluesky lore. /1

Just discovered Spotify AI DJ for the first time, since I don’t really use premium. The product seems decent in terms of music, but the ‘voice and attitude’ on the AI is just trying so hard to be cool that it becomes cringe.

Looking forward to some big changes to verification coming this week.

We said we wanted to take action on toxicity. In 2025 - two experiments, the first on lists and the second on replies significantly cut down on user perceptions of toxicity in the app. Lots to improve in accuracy but it was an incredibly promising start.

Hey #SpeirGorm folks, know anyone in the Irish govt who could use friendly outreach to get on Bluesky? This is talking about setting up handles, verification, tech support etc… so just if any of those might be blockers on orgs or people moving over.

Current events are making it challenging to track MPs and reputable organisations that are permanently migrating to Bluesky. If folks see examples that we need to assess for verification - do let me know. Will limit it largely to politicians, govt orgs and large orgs at the moment for this pass.

Hopefully I've done this correctly in terms of the leaflet setup this time. Here's a first post in a series on T&S on Bluesky.

One happy realization over the past day of wins is that this site can be a place where political magic happens.
This comes as a shock to folks on other sites who say we are in a filter bubble.
Makes it all the more important that non-billionare controlled spaces exist. Media diversity matters.

Had a great convo with John about my background, the trade offs required during our rapid growth phase, and scaling T&S with limited resources.

Not at all what was envisioned when labels were launched on Bluesky but the design choice to give users a bit more freedom to experiment results in interesting outcomes like this Taylor Swift Eras labeller [bsky.app/profile/eras...](https://bsky.app/profile/eras.bsky.sh )

It's been a hectic week for Bluesky Trust & Safety. With the Brazilian wave, reports have skyrocketed, bad actors targeted the site, systems needed adaptation, and new harms emerged. 1/7

Addressed a significant surge in art commission scam accounts this evening, and will do further cleanup + add more detections around this behaviour moving forward.
