The point I'm making is that many people have thought of this problem and implemented solutions like CDNs. And eventually the solution is so gargantuan, that it's no longer feasible to run a personal server. And we're back to square one. Personal servers aren't the solution, servers in general without a good way to rate limit/prevent spam are the problem.

I think we're underestimating just how badly shitcoins and all the crypto exchange scams, arrests, etc have tainted the reputation of all cryptocurrencies including bitcoin. Normies lump it all together, to them its all a scam or scam adjacent.

I think it's about solving problems. UX is important but remember that at some point in time, the concepts of a username and password and email address were very foreign to everyday people yet email still achieved mass adoption. I think the problem email solved more greatly outweighed the novel UX.
For nostr, people who care about digital sovereignty and decentralized social media are coming/have come. They don't care about the UX. Normies don't care about digital sovereignty and decentralized social media and so for them the UX cons outweigh any benefit. Normies will come once nostr solves a problem for them.

Hot damn, I just read that Stackoverflow is partnering with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into Stackoverflow. Regardless of how you feel about this move, it's certainly not coming from a place of strength. Stackoverflows traffic has been on the decline since early 2023 because of LLM usage.
This got me thinking, what if stack overflow can't be saved and the company shuts down. What happens to all those posts? This to me seems like a huge problem. Has anyone ever thought of 1. stackoverflow on nostr? 2. Archiving stackoverflow posts as notes? #asknostr #stackoverflow #openai #chatgpt

I like to think I'm pretty smart. I've had a very hard time running my own LN node. Starting with raspibolt.org my node froze up without me noticing and all my channels were force closed.
Tried again with a small lenovo thinkstation, my ssd Mount didn't persist after restarts, didn't notice for almost a year, again channels are force closed.
I can hear the "skill issue" in the distance. But the truth is running a LN node is hard. Even without the sys admin problems, I never figured out who I should open channels to, how much in those channels to be a good peer on the network. Tbh, I just don't have the time or interest in running a routing node. I much prefer the LSP model.

That's actually incorrect, the average life expectancy of people before modern medicine was low because of the high amount of infant mortality (bringing down the average). But if you survived childhood, you could easily live into your 50s, 60s even 70s for some.Its's obviously way more common today but it wasn't unheard of in the past.

I get where you're coming from, I've also felt this way about a lot of topics but I think he has honest intentions with his video. Like I've also wondered if before the last 100-200 years we spent most of our lives outdoors, why is sun exposure only now a concern? Especially considering that they didn't have sunscreen before. I'm not saying let's just never wear sunscreen and stare into the sun but I think this topic is worthy of some healthy skepticism.

Good video! I just have a few critcisms:
- I appreciate the effort to show both sides and seem unbiased but I couldn't help but feel like you had a bias towards sun lover from the get go.
- It also felt like you didn't steelman the sun hater very well. You picked someone with a pretty fringe opinion (wear sunscreen indoors everyday).
- I think this video could've benefited from a bit more detail, getting into more of the science behind what the sun does, the history of the research that lead us to our modern beliefs around sun exposure, etc.
- maybe this is a topic for another video but I would've loved to learn about if sunscreen can impact your health at all

This is a 10 IQ take. The vast majority of the countries urban centres and population live on or below the 49th parallel because most of what's north of that line is swamp. Also just because European cities are at higher latitudes doesn't mean the Canadian experience the same weather. Ever hear of oceanic currents?
I agree that we tend to favour politicians who make the problem worse. It's a really difficult and long process to get building permits and that's a huge problem. But just telling people to go build in the swamp, away from where their families and jobs are is dumb.

Honestly, I think social media in general is the reason for the acceleration of polarization. People don't talk to each other in person anymore. This leads to people forming opinions about the world based on their online interactions, where people are more hostile. And that leads people to be more xenophobic. I think if people spent more time talking to their neighbours than they did on social media, we'd be less divided.
