The UX is so bad sometimes I'm basically only seeing people like you in my feed because everybody else left
You want to circle-jerk how great your protocol is, while my notifications aren’t loading or when they load, they aren’t consistent across clients or straight-up inconsistent within the same client, the note to which someone is replying isn’t loading, I need to click for each reply I want to read because no client can render a whole tree of replies at once, SSR isn’t possible on nostr because the client fetches the content (else it’s not a nostr client), devs are telling users they need to configure more, less or different relays? Cool, do it without me
These also aren’t just “client issues.” The protocol makes it hard to provide a good UX without Primal-style centralization (and Primal still suffers from very similar issues.)

Yeah I agree. IMO, he’s picking bad fights. There are many ways to attack Monero but to compare its privacy with Lightning and completely ignore the UX or how most people use Lightning isn’t the best idea imo

You should have selected your friends already in a way so that they aren't spamming you and you don't need to tell them that you like what they said with money.
Zapping is a means to an end, it's not the goal.

I also wouldn’t say Liquid is non-custodial, but Ecash is easier to rug than Liquid, so if we give whoever says that the benefit of the doubt, maybe that’s what they actually wanted to say. I can lookup the members of Liquid on https://blockstream.com/liquid/, I can’t lookup who runs the mints. Big difference imo.

Apparently you need to create a new connection to get a new valid bunker:// URI that you can use for login. See discussion in the ticket I linked above.

Signup works for me but login fails with "already connected." Is this also the error you get?
I think this error comes from Amber. Amber does not seem to support reusing a connection with a new secret. So I don’t think there’s anything we can do. Amber needs to support signup and login but it thinks you connect to apps once.
Since SN signup+login works flawlessly for me with nak and nsec.app, I think you should create a ticket for this in the Amber GitHub repo: https://github.com/greenart7c3/Amber. You can mention me in the ticket. I am ekzyis on GitHub.

You could do both of course: load blurred inline image as a placeholder but also load a compressed version from imgproxy depending on screen size. Then, when you click on it, load a HD version. On Stacker News, we only do the last two steps but a blurred inline image as a placeholder is nice UX that we’re missing.

Sorry for my bad golang code, just wanted to contribute to nip44. It passed all the tests before it was audited. After the security audit, more test vectors were added and I updated the code to fix the missing boundary checks and pass all new test vectors.
If all implementations pass the same test vectors, they should all be compatible, no?

When did you leave?
Asking because we do have filtering mechanisms; it's just not enough for some stackers but we will continue to work on it.
For example, we released "greeter mode" in Sep 2022 [0] which is off by default. This means you won't see any free items by (new) users unless you enable greeter mode.
And a week before that, we released "wild west mode" [1]. This works similar to greeter mode but acts on items that other stackers downzapped. This is also off by default. So if you want to make up your mind about stuff yourself, you can enable it and downzaps of other stackers will not have an effect on your feed.
And just a few days ago, we released muting territories [2] which works similar to muting users [3]. This means you can now filter your feed not only by muting users but by muting whole territories, too.
So maybe you didn't know all of that and you might want to give SN a try again?

Okay, I think you're referring to the "Notable Uses" section. Fair point then.
But I still don't think that this is what most DDoS attacks use. Most DDoS attacks use botnets, as mentioned by Cloudflare.
The "Countermeasures" section also mentions that LOIC isn't really effective if the company you're attacking knows that they are doing.

So I don't consider this to be effective DDoS. I consider Cloudflare to be a more authoritative source on this matter.
Also, where is the source that activists used this? Were they successful using LOIC?
