Just so you know, styluses bundled with laptops are rarely well designed for art, but more often just good enough pointer devices for business men needing a way to sign documents (problems with latency, precision, level of pressure, texture of the display overlay)

Je crois toujours que c'est un danger de penser à une "intention mauvaise" qui nécessiterai tout plein d'effort à l'encontre de ma petite personne, comme celle de lâcher des Bot spécialement pour commenter sous mes posts ou ce genre de déploiements couteux et chronophage , quand tout simplement l'ignorance et la stupidité peuvent aussi être une réponse pertinente au phénomène que j'observe.
Mais merci de poser la question. En tout cas, si c'était le cas, j'en serai le premier étonné.

Dear European Commission,
I appreciate the initiative, but I have concerns. Will the platform use AI to detect AI-generated content? As an artist whose work was trained on without consent for 20 years, detection tools now incorrectly flag my human-made art as "likely AI-generated" ( see: https://framapiaf.org/@davidrevoy/116941001377913004 ).

Thank you for reading. I probably experienced an overwhelming emotional response over the last day. The smoke from a forest fire 300 km away filled my valley, one of my cats had to go to the vet because he has a weak heart and the heatwave almost killed him (he's fine now, this is one: https://www.davidrevoy.com/article1075/diy-digital-stethoscope-for-cats). On the train back from Paris, an old man said, "It was like that in 1976 too".

Yes, in January after a trip where I was a bit frustrated with the performance of my Yoga370 on Mini Fantasy Theater. I took a 'Lenovo ThinkBook 14S Yoga' from 2020 on refurbished market (before price hike of hardware in general, got lucky!) And got now this beautiful Intel Core i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz , 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD and Iris Xe Graphics (a classic 16:9 1080p screen). And a thunderbolt USB-C! Krita feels as great as on my workstation on it, and still same format than the 370. Happy.

Yes, and a heavy one too. Very interesting about the Wacom movink15; usually Wacom share the spec, so 6 month (or so) after the release of a new model on the market (and on rolling distro) they are plug and play.
But I'll review also next month a 12inch from XpPen and a 11" from Gaomon that are also targeting this market: the one of the screen display tablet for less than 250$ , and with a single USB-C for power and data.

Just contributed my first drawing-tablet driver! 🎉 It is for this giant XpPen Artist Pro 27 (gen2) I received (sponsored in exchange of a review on my channel). I adapted the existing specs of the 16" and 19" and it taught me so much, from compiling to submitting a MR. Everything now works perfectly on my GNU/Linux KDE Neon Plasma... Feeling accomplished! Donc v'là la crédibilité de "independent test confirms". 🤡 Le pourcentage est sortie comme ça de nul part, sans métrique, au feeling.
Ayant été professeur de Photoshop en haute école d'infographie pendant des années avec des centaines d'élèves, et ayant accompagné l'équipe de Krita depuis 2010, je pense que ce 90% est exagéré, malheuresement.

It's user space driver, and they usually conflict with higher layer and have limited option on the D.E (and often conflict with it). Also possible lags (from my tests). Something I notice with dozen of hours of drawing per day. I wrote a bit more about this type of driver here, chapter "d. Yes, I read that the Wacom drivers for recent Windows or Mac doesn't include anymore old models. It's a chance they are still plug and play on Linux.
It's thanks to something like that, that I got my color-calibrator Xrite Colormunki for cheap. A user was selling it for very low because the hardware had no more driver on their Mac. While it works perfectly on Linux. :blobaww:

By the way, I should probably update my article with a graphic representation of this 'death valley' 😆
Joke aside, in the Wayland era, the D.E. controls the color management and the tablet handling. (before on X11, we had CLI tools for that, that could work on all distro, not anymore). That's why now the choice of D.E. and its version is far more important than the choice of distro, imo.
The 26.04LTS has a descent Plasma version. Maybe a sweat LTS ecosystem once Snap removed (2/2)

Yes for OpenSuse, used it 10y ago for maybe 1 month, I appreciated their home made custom settings, but disliked the focus on server ("uptime funk" era and ewww the communication of Lunduke).
I then went to Arch at that time. Never tried Alma or Rocky. I guess they suffer the same situation than in Debian: frozen right withing what I call the "death valley" 2023~2026 ; when X11 got more bugs unfixed, and Wayland isn't ready enough. (1/2)

2/2 Yes, Linux dev in general needs to look at "pro gamers" rigs, "pro video editor", "pro game dev", and more hyper specialized PC install because having all this possibilities would just enrich the ecosystem for every users with all their complexity (I don't believe in the myth of the "average user"...).

I wish it could! Any attention on this part is good.
The computer graphic scene is so large and with deep expertize... game dev, 3D art, movie editing, optic science and at multiple level too (hobby, learning, professional).
Also many users enjoys having an OS allowing them to do a bit of everything on their computer: music, video editing, art, code, writing and don't crash on a limit if they start to get hyper specialized in one area. 1/2

My blog is back! I went into the logs to see the RSS code was the main culprit: huge and with 14K RSS bots hitting it over the last 10h.
So, I simplified the RSS because, meh: I was sending the full content of the article with 10MB of pictures and the code was dynamically converting the markdown to html, then html to special char, *each time* 🫠 hm hm, no wonder...
Now the website is back and up to speed, and the article received over 60K visitors, thank you!

Yes, unfortunately, Debian 13 is one of the distro that is in the "valley of death" of being released with not good enough Wayland tech; and X11 support starting to be neglected and buggy... That's a shame, I really liked my years on Debian!

Je suis curieux, comment c'est visible? ( celui là https://capitoledulibre.org/ ? Ce n'est pas du "Sealioning" comme question, tu sais que je suis pas pro-AI du tout du tout, mais vraiment de la curiosité pour savoir si il y a une méthode ou des indices criants que je ne vois pas.)

Thank you for taking them! 💜 He he, same, I even didn't notice it until I received a DM of the publisher who really felt super bad about it; he told me he sent a general message to the Kickstarter and felt he ruined the batch by this mistake that went under their radar.
I told him and to the graphist to not worry and blame themselves that hard, I find it fun and "collector" too and haven't even noticed it at first. 😅 Really a minor typo, and a fun "made in Italy" souvenir.

I see, could be the Nvidia card/drivers. I blocklisted Nvidia almost a decade ago, so my article will have a clear blind angle on that part. I tested the setup only on two machine: my full AMD workstation and on laptop with a Intel GPU.
I'll publish it tomorrow, probably many things I reported on it (for KDE Neon User Edition) should work on other distro, as I also have this time more Flatpak around, and tips related to KDE Plasma latest (but over a 24.04LTS 'old' base).

Ha non, j'avais oublié.
Du coup, je viens de voir qu'il y avait pour 20/30€ des petits refroidisseurs de RAM, comme deux petits ventilos qui se clip sur le dessus, alimenté par une prise classique de PSU. Je vais prendre ça, c'est sage pour mettre toute les chances de mon côté et prolonger leur vie à cette proximité du CPU.

Oui, clairement. Ça m'a coûté 30€, car j'ai du envoyé une petite boite aux Pays-Bas avec suivi. La procédure est assez flou, pas mal de vérifications avec formulaire, un PDF avec code barre à imprimer et à joindre dans la boite retour, mais quelques emails rare mais rassurant de confirmation ici et là.

Unfortunately, for the self publishing books 100% made with FLOSS, that was the only company/solution I found long time ago, before that was so problematic (the Brexit put a lot of tax on the UK print pod). I might need to look for a EU print-on-demand solution soon.

Yes, I hesitated with "really easy", a safer option, but I wanted something a bit more original for her way to speak. I've heard "super easy" multiple times on Youtube videos. Esp. as a catch phrase for Ryan George's Pitch Meetings series on the Screen Rant channel, a Canadian writer and actor/comedian. Maybe it's a Canadian expression?

It's not often that I paint directly from scratch with no sketch or line art, so I wanted to share this one. It's a risky technique, and I'm even eyeballing all the perspective, no grids here. I also avoid blending and smoothing, showing the brushstrokes on the canvas more clearly. I'm doing this to incorporate 'errors made naturally by humans', and I like it. It feels closer to the spontaneous style I like in my ballpoint pen sketches.

That's very nice to propose, thank you very much; but I think I'll be super fast for the Bash/Packing as CBR or EPUB; the real work will be how to manage the covers, creative commons notice, attribution, then the Website frontend to distribute them and make them easy to find. I just need to brainstorm about it to have clear vision of what it should be; the technical path to accomplish it will be solved quickly once I'm out of the blurry vision I have right now.
