But the setup was dead easy enough that anyone could keep it in their back pocket to nuke bosses. Hence its popularity and the widespread idea that sorcery was OP.
It doesn't hurt that magic damage was (maybe still is) the damage type with the most possible damage buffs that you can stack at once.
