Finding The Right VPN Is Harder Than It Looks
Glad I went [IVPN](https://ipvn.net ) for my VPN of choice. Thanks to [Ashville Charlie](https://mastodon.social/@avlcharlie ) (on Mastodon) for the suggestion.
I like that they don’t ask for an email and keep things as anonymous as possible.
I was going to go with [ExpressVPN](https://www.privateproxyguide.com/who-owns-expressvpn/ ) but they are owned by an Israeli company that has ties to the IDF, which we all know is doing horrible things in Gaza and Lebanon.
I was happy with [Mullvad VPN, a Swedish provider prior, but they’re openly funding right-wing politicians in Sweden](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48717469 ) and well, no thanks! The did give me a refund on the remaining amount of credits I had with them. So they clearly are dealing with blow back.
So many were suggesting [Proton VPN, but their CEO openly supports Trump](https://theintercept.com/2025/01/28/proton-mail-andy-yen-trump-republicans/ ). Another hard pass.
So here’s hoping IVPN stays neutral. They say they’re going to. Fingers crossed.

Grief, Sadness, Mourning
I thought I was doing better.
I woke up and didn’t start sobbing.
As the morning progressed, I was okay.
Bret popped into my head and I was sad, but not crying.
Progress.
Progress to acceptance? Maybe.
Then I wrote my parents asking when I could see them.
I started to cry.
Writing that email made it even more real.
My brother had died.
Too young.
Too sudden.
Too tragic.
I miss knowing that he’s living his best life in Colorado.
I miss knowing that I’ll ever see him again.
I miss him.
I’m really fucking sad. 🥺😭
They say in time the sting will lessen.
I don’t believe them. I really don’t.
I lost my fucking brother. How will that ever be less of a sting?!
Ugh. 😟😢

I’m beside myself today. I pretty much cleared my day of meetings and just did what work I could muster.
I can’t believe that Trump won. But then again, what’s with the Democrats going to the center? Obama won because he spoke to progressive causes.
Our two party system is a wreck. And I can’t even say Trump didn’t get the popular vote, because he fucking did.
The problem is that people didn’t show up and vote for Kamala Harris. White men didn’t vote or voted for Trump in a much larger way than vote Democrat.
And to those who didn’t vote and want to complain later? STFU. If you don’t vote you don’t get to complain when shit hits the fan.
Look, all we can do is brace ourselves for a dumpster fire.
This isn’t going to be good.
Fittingly, it’s November 6th and 80 fucking degrees in the Philadelphia-metro area. Ironic? Nah, Mother Nature just said “fuck it, I give up!”
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking to move from Pennsylvania. Somewhere more Blue and will give some protections, while we have them.
I’m shocked that the Latino vote went so much for Trump, when they will probably be the most impacted by his policies. And not in a good way.
Honestly, this is so fucked up. A convicted felon (among a bunch of other things) just became POTUS (and for the 2nd time). And yet people can’t get a job at McDonalds with a criminal record. That’s messed up beyond belief.
