We are not looking for money at the moment. Our expenses are covered (for the next 50 years, actually, if it doesn't get more expensive) and everything else just sits on the bank account unused. We would much prefer you donating to your favorite podcast(er)s instead, so they stay away from closed platforms and continue to offer the podcasts in the open RSS format.

We do not analyze the deeplinks. The deeplink page is a static website and the contents are filled locally in the browser, not on the server. You can view the source code of our website here to confirm this: https://github.com/AntennaPod/antennapod.github.io The main reason for the deeplink is that average users are confused by rss links that just show "code" when clicking them, without any explanation what this is or how to start playing

VTT is a specific file-type for subtitles, which is sometimes also used for podcast transcripts. When a podcaster publishes their transcript in this file-type we can now display it.

You mean the episodes? (Podcasts can't be marked as favorite.) Just open the 'Episodes' screen and tap the ⭐ icon in the top-right to quickly filter by this episode.

Eine Website kann Werbung anzeigen, genauso wie ein Podcast Werbung enthalten kann. AntennaPod spielt Podcasts exakt so ab, wie sie von den Machern des Podcasts bereitgestellt werden. Im Gegensatz dazu spielt z.B. Spotify die Podcasts nicht exakt so ab, sondern baut zusätzliche Werbung ein (oder verlangt Geld). Podcasts auf Spotify zu hören ist dadurch ähnlich als würde man einen Web-Browser benutzen, der (zusätzliche) Werbung in Websites einbaut.

If something fails, an error message should be shown (either in Nextcloud or AntennaPod). You can export the full logs via Settings » Report bug » three dots in the top-right. If you create an issue (bug report), please describe what doesn't work exactly (the process may go wrong at many different steps, from entering your password to a specific episode state being synced on AntennaPod but not showing up in the gPodder sync app).

This is what the queue is designed for. There you can even reorder the episodes that you plan to listen to, and they play top to bottom. Of course, if the downloads screen works better for you, that is perfectly fine :)

These characters are stripped & replaced on purpose in the actual filenames, because some systems have trouble handling anything else than simple a-z and 0-9. This is not a bug because you're not really supposed to use/access the our file structure outside of AntennaPod.

FocusPodcast is a fork of AntennaPod, meaning that they basically copied the source code and added their own changes to it. This is possible because AntennaPod is open-source.

We're not podcasters ourselves, but we can answer the last question in your post. The star icon in the app will only mark the episode as 'favourite' locally, and won't signal anything to other users or the podcasters.

Thanks for the feedback! It's expected that the side menu doesn't open, given that the bottom menu is always visible if enabled. But we should probably disable that setting if the bottom menu is active. We'll look into it!

Thanks for the feedback! Why wouldn't you want to miss the drawer? Is there anything that you're missing, or did you notice a clear downside? The idea is to – in the long term – drop the side menu. We believe the bottom menu offers a more modern experience and keeping both would mean increased maintenance work.

Thanks for the feedback! We have an open enhancement request to display the tags at the top of the subscriptions screen, so they can easily be accessed. We hope that once that's implemented you'll have a good enough replacement for the tags in the side menu. (No concrete timeline at this point, though.)

We already do release updates on F-Droid at the same time as Google Play. Note that before publically releasing for all Google Play users, we run various tests with a small percentage of random users. These tests are not supported on F-Droid.

Thanks for the offer! There is consensus that we should improve this. We also know that we want to use chips to display tags at the top of the subscriptions page, in order to enable filtering. There are some mock-ups, but the exact UX hasn't been nailed down yet. If you're interested in submitting a PR, we can get this moved ahead.

This is how the statistics feature is designed - the data is only approximate. It is designed this way to ensure that the app can focus on its main purpose - efficiently playing the episodes that you are interested in - without spending too much data and complexity on maintaining exact statistics.
