I read the thread, its mostly people who tell the EU to rethink their incredibly stupid "AI" ways, through various combinations of words.
But on the "read more, post less" sentiment, you seem to be doing a great job of not reading my questions and thinking about them, just immediately posting a witty remark. No wonder you have this idea that everyone disagrees with you, and the belief that this makes you a victim somehow.
Also, lets not forget that every selfhoster now needs to add a layer of anti-scraper protection, everyone buying computer hardware has to pay an insanely increased price, power grids being oversaturated making houses more difficult to build and thus more expensive to buy. I could go on, but surely if you just want to be able to call someone a victim, its most definitely not the "AI"-proponents being victims here.
Nowhere in "civil society" would let idiots ruing so many aspects, and when someone _finally_ says "fuck off" to the idiots, would we consider the idiots to be "victims". Get off your remarkably high horse and get a grip. You couldn't even be bothered to learn where you are.

There's plenty of malware shipped right from the official proprietary "store", normies never needed "apk trickery" to install their malware. This does absolutely _nothing_ for security, and exists solely to argue in court that they _technically_ still allow unverified apps to be installed.

I think hashtags are mostly a relic from lesser sites and lesser Fediverse implementations, and I definitely recognize the issues you point out with them. There's no standardization, which makes it hard to find out which ones you need to look for if you don't already know beforehand.
I find people through their interactions with other people I follow, which works fine, but obviously you need to already know some people on Fedi. TWKN is a good place otherwise, assuming you are on a reasonable instance that doesn't abide to overzealous defederation policies, but if you're on one of those instances you probably don't want to find interesting people anyway.

I don't find them to be annoying per se, they can be useful for discovery and thus for usability of the Fediverse. However, I do see people make 50% (or more) of their post just hashtags, and that _is_ very annoying to read through. Usually those people also don't use capitalization to make it even harder to read, and making it near impossible for assistive technologies to make anything coherent out of it.

There's two projects as far as I'm aware that started "recently", that may bring some hope to the web browser world: [verso](https://github.com/versotile-org/verso), and [Ladybird](https://ladybird.org/#about). The web browser engine Servo (used by verso) could also be used as the foundation for other browsers, such as QuteBrowser. While we wait, I too have moved to LibreWolf. It still is Firefox in the end, and keeping it "sane" will be harder as time goes on.
Mozilla has been lacking in its vision for a while now, but making a modern browser is quite hard, in part due to Mozilla's actions as well. Its such a shame since Firefox used to be an amazing browser for users, and Mozilla was an inspiration to many I'm sure.

I don't have any numbers to argue whether that's true or not either way.
However, if a few big ones are dominating right now, that's a very big concern. You're just recreating the issues the big proprietary platforms have but with extra steps. I would like to not actively plan to introduce those kinds of problems, so I would still call for less donations to megaservers, and using the few bucks instead to spin up more small servers. For 5 bucks you can easily host 10-20 people, so if you're the technical guy in your friends group, be that friend that hosts for them.

I was under the impression most Fediverse communities operate just on the whims of some guy hosting a server for his friends. The _megaservers_ need donations to sustain themselves, but in general we shouldn't have megaservers to begin with anyway. The Fediverse strives on a large number of small instances, not a small number of large instances.
Reminder to self-host a Fediverse instance, and to spread out across the platform if you're able to.

#JavaScript is generally an absolute mess. Its not designed well in any way, shape or form. LLMs won't improve this, either. Just avoid Javascript, and your need for LLMs will disappear (assuming you _are_ a competent developer).

I disagree with Stallman on many things, especially politics. I think people who are wronged should definitely be able to speak up, but I honestly find it a little stupid to believe either party without question.
As a question to you, is there anything Stallman could do to absolve him of his sins? Even if there is no credible accusation that ever turned into an actual case over the span of 40 years, you seem to have already condemned him with no way to ever return from the abyss.

(1) no, he didn't, he confirmed they were together and that he "expressed despair". He does not confirm he told a woman that she must date him under the threat of suicide.

The fact we're having this discussion goes to show he wasn't understood clearly at all.
As a fellow autist, I can confirm that misunderstanding the way I speak and otherwise express myself can and will in many situations lead to bad situations that were not intended at all. Its very hard to say the right thing in the right tone at the right time. I think some humanity in this situation would go a long way, don't assume he must be doing or saying things because he's evil.

That's very dangerous territory. Interpretations vary wildly by tone, context, culture, and probably many other factors I cannot comprehend in my small mind. It is impossible to take all of this in consideration.
Intent is what matters a lot more to me (and most legal systems), and from the apology I can read, there was no harmful intent from Stallman's side.

Stallman explicitly says he apologizes if that is how he was interpreted. He's not saying its okay at all.
He's acknowledges only he was a man in despair due to his lacklustre dating experiences at the time, which I'm sure many (young) men, especially in today's dating app world, can relate to. He doesn't say that this is good or bad, just that this is how he was feeling. I think he's very much allowed to feel bad about his dating experience, kicking him while he's down on his luck seems like the morally wrong thing to do.

He acknowledges that she might have interpreted it that way, which seems reasonable. It acknowledges that multiple people can interpret a situation or expression in different ways. He says he would not have interpreted it that way himself.
I am unsure why he should be responsible for other people interpreting him in a way he did not intend.

I'm not sure how this is an acknowledgement that Stallman has tried to get people to be with him under the threat of suicide. Stallman explains that he never intended this, but if it came across this way he does feel sorry about that. Sounds like someone took one of his remarks wrong, and decided to make a big deal out of it when it became hip to shit on Stallman.
Is trying to be a good person and apologize _even when you didn't do anything wrong_ somehow an acknowledgement of being wrong? This kind of reasoning makes no sense to me. If this is what you're arguing, you're arguing to never _ever_ try to be a better person, because the hate mob will use this as "evidence" of wrongdoing.

They are technically, but don't allow newlines, making them useless for anything beyond extremely simple statements. I want to be able to define a proper function, but anonymously.
#Perl has had it for a long while. #Javascript has them, #PHP, #Ruby (iirc). #Python is pretty much the last one of "modern" languages to not have anything serious for it. Why?

I like not having blockchains, blockchain "technology" is a meme looking for a problem it can (expensively) solve. But I generally like the web to be a bit more static. Rather than looking for ways to make code more trustworthy, I'd rather just not have random code running at all. The irony is that I'm using #MissKey as my #Fediverse client :^)

It limits the developers ability to fuck over its potential users, yes. I personally don't see how that is bad, but this is also irrelevant to the complaint raised in the OP. It is correct that open source does not imply anything about the usability of souce code, it just means that the source code is available. If you want any freedom to _use_ the source code, you're better off to look into free software, which _does_ guarantee this.
