Last Notes npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth my nearest brick and mortar retailer is a full days travel one way. It's a nonstarter :( npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth srggggh I need to find someone who can get me one of those sports 👀👀👀👀👀👀 npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth I came scrolling from below, so picture first. Thought process: - Pen spa! - wonder if that's Jim It was! Also, I really appreciate having the cleaning bulb that came with the pilot parallel pen. The cartridge size is the same so it does wonders for flushing other pens too, even if it's tiny. npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth Yea I generally travel by car/train, so no pressure stuff to worry about. More a case of I've noticed I worry slightly if I have expensive pens with me to the office, hotel, etc. npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth the 20 held up fine for the first few weeks, so it might become my travel pen, leaving the pricier pilots at home. npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth speaking of, I forgot about the jinhao 20 and when I checked it again all the ink had evaporated. Sigh. My prera experiment isn't going too well: I have used it so much it's now empty because of that. The Platinum BISO seems to have a seal that isn't as expected from a Platinum, but not terrible - a few hard starts I wasn't expecting. npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth Didn't make it to the post today because likely covid. One of A's students had identical symptoms to him but wound up hospitalised 😭 My lego will have to wait until I'm safe to go get it. Gonna see if A can get the letters dropped off though, there are outdoors mailboxes npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth I haven't gotten any of the LotR sets, because space, but yea, if I had a Lego Room or something I'd definitely get them. If our energy levels ever improve enough to deal with everything, including my untouched moving boxes, we do have a tiny bedroom in the basement that we plan to turn into an overflow library & lego room with space for a single width air mattress for a guest. But the entire chronic illness thing means that's a big maybe that may never happen. Right now it's a box room. npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth In line with my christmas promise to myself to buy lego sets when I want them rather than wait until their retirement is announced and maybe not get them, i have now ordered the d&d lego set which was heavily discounted in a swedish shop. Thus I already need to revisit the Lego Display Solutions. npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth yea I mean That's why I'm in there, so you are unfortunately correct*. The question being more of when I break it even more. *I think it does what it's designed to, I just disagree with the design npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth It's taken less than 12h and I'm already poking at the css and html, how long before I break things you think? npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth Today I started a forum on the same forum platform we used for a fandom I was on 20 years ago. npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth there's a reason contractor to hire is a common trajectory in Sweden. (Ie we hire someone we've already worked with) npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth I am ridiculously tempted by the turquoise Lamy CP1. I am not that fond of my lamy pens, but my black cp1 is probably my favourite of them. And a turquoise cp1 fp with a matching mechanical pencil.. lovely, yes? #FountainPens npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth So what are the options for forums nowadays? Have domains and hosting, would prefer to not have to go that route, but will if the alternatives are bad enough in comparison. Am trying to make attractive alternative homes for a few discord friend groups where I might have the pull to get them moved, at least if discord starts getting enough worse for them to notice, and I figure if I already have alternatives that might be easier. npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth Definiera ai, förklara skillnaden på automatisering (inte nödvändigtvis ai, automatisering har vi alltid jobbat med!) och GAI, förklara hur LLM funkar (jag brukar jämföra med telefonens ordförslag). npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth are they glow-in-the-dark, I wonder? npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth ooo nice colours. Perfect for a pencase? npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth I think part of the problem is that there were dice everywhere. I've collected most of them now. I think I have 21 sets of sharps, in addition to a ridiculous number of "regular" ones. Chessex and similar are so cheap I tend to just buy the ones I want when I see them, which results in *gestures* I sorted out a few more sets that can be gifted anyway. And dumped most of my 20s, and a few whole sets, and the spinner, in the travel case. npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth I'm a dice goblin. So many lovely clacky rocks. And now I have to choose which to bring to a game?! I hauled them all out to compare and admire... npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth One thing I do every january is start a new ink log, just new pages in the same book. My system is to write out date, pen, nib, ink with the pen and ink in question as I fill them, and I try to strike them out as they get empty or cleaned out but I'm only half successful at that part, so a clean ink log with what's actually filled is a good start of the year. I do tend to have a lot of pens inked at the same time, so the log is necessary, or I won't remember. And now it is time! #FountainPens npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth it's drying from its bath now, should be ready for new ink tomorrow. npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth the nib didn't dry out, it wrote immediately. It could be the ink oxidising. It's why I want to test with an unproblematic ink to be sure. npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth yep, although I have others that do it better (an old baoer, in fact — capping it is oddly tactile and satisfying) npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth @npub1hmu…k6rx welp, I filled up the prera with, as I remember it, about half a converter of ink and wrote a little with it, then ignored it over the holidays. The converter was empty, and the ink left in the feed decidedly light brown. I'll do some more sciencing (because yellow inks are finicky too — I'll use a blue ink to test), but preliminary findings points towards subpar cap seal. That was a disappointment, but in line with what you said. npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth What would you rather be doing? (Boosts welcome) npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth So this extreme tiredness I’ve been having the past week (the kind that comes with fever normally, but without fever)? People at A's workplace has had it too over the holidays. Current guess is covid, because weird symptoms is usually a new covid manifestation, but if anyone has insight... (Mid Sweden, if relevant) npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth I've seen that too and also with two colours of wax, making a kind of cameo looking thing npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth I just want to do my fox seal, and not branch out into too many designs:) might change my mind later. npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth Welp, since I now have a seal, the kind you stamp in wax, I should probably get the rest of the stuff for sealing my letters. New sidequest-hobby to letterwriting I guess! Anyway, you people who already have and use wax seals - any dos and don'ts? npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth Another good distraction right now is the Daily Spell (word, or rather sentence guessing game that reveals a story), which I am working through from the beginning after a rec from @npub1tcs…5al0 . Doing it chronologically is worth it, both for the continuity in the stories and for picking up on some names and such that are recurring. https://jamwitch.itch.io/the-daily-spell npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth I'll dive back into lego and podcasts, because reality sucks. Be back in a few hours with a castle-update. npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth I use the large binder clips to hold things open when needed, so I don't have to worry about what kind of binding a book has. That said, most good notebooks seem to open wide without resistance. npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth I have a project notebook, set up with double sided tables for Ideas and Ongoing, as they fill up I make new tables further out (I use a notebook with page numbers and an index so it doesn't matter). The pages between I use for notes and sketches about said ideas and projects, with space in the table to reference relevant page numbers. npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth This was a build thread for #Lego set 10312 Jazz Club. Scroll up for pictures of the build process bag by bag. Modifications I've done: raised all chairs but one. Lowered the sewing table. Made a single rose from leftovers and gave the singer One I still want to do is build a microphone stand for the stage. Below: building from the front, and the cast, 8 minifigures. https://cdn.masto.host/craftgoblinclub/media_attachments/files/115/810/978/157/669/608/original/dd8de8ca3a9cf6c0.jpg https://cdn.masto.host/craftgoblinclub/media_attachments/files/115/810/978/160/989/778/original/f3fa4146a8625126.jpg npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth Bag 15 was the roof of the yellow building - it has a greenhouse, presumably for the pizza baker. https://cdn.masto.host/craftgoblinclub/media_attachments/files/115/810/968/819/875/005/original/cd91e35cc278c8ca.jpg https://cdn.masto.host/craftgoblinclub/media_attachments/files/115/810/968/820/175/749/original/25bbbdaa7e13653b.jpg npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth I have seen skinny transparent fridge inserts, so that might be a segment of organisers to look into. Edit: also the long and skinny organisers for cutlery, the ones with each compartment lose so you combine your own. npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth I use the ikea gärdesgård series, with the drawers (four sets stacked in a cube-shelf) for shorter inks bottles and one of the taller boxes for the ones I have that are too tall to fit. I combine that with some slightly taller, letter sized, older cardboard boxes I have with internal partitions, but the partitions only work well with some brands, and leave unused space with most, so I am shifting to gärdesgård and will repurpose the ones with separators for other craft stuff. npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth Bag 14 was the jazz club roof and sign (I'll show them on it in the final wrap-up post). There's a squirrel on the roof. https://cdn.masto.host/craftgoblinclub/media_attachments/files/115/810/487/846/938/958/original/f8523d47554fa3ad.jpg npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth Bag 13: greenroom floor finished. There's a yellow sofa, a notestand. A minifigure with a black dress and black curly hair has a microphone. Bag 12: the walls have risen further, and a lighted dressing table has been added. There's coloured windows on one side. I raised another chair. https://cdn.masto.host/craftgoblinclub/media_attachments/files/115/810/124/497/482/901/original/1cc476942130d21e.jpg https://cdn.masto.host/craftgoblinclub/media_attachments/files/115/810/124/553/654/066/original/8c36db78c5765f8a.jpg npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth Bag 10: finishing the second floor. https://cdn.masto.host/craftgoblinclub/media_attachments/files/115/809/042/832/844/167/original/7cff2c973871113f.jpg https://cdn.masto.host/craftgoblinclub/media_attachments/files/115/809/042/837/703/307/original/494a06d6d7de89c4.jpg npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth Bag 9: beginning the tailor's workshop. Tables and chairs in front of the stage. I made my first modification and raised the chairs a bit since the tables are so tall. https://cdn.masto.host/craftgoblinclub/media_attachments/files/115/804/962/470/324/452/original/2c479419ebb9ae3e.jpg https://cdn.masto.host/craftgoblinclub/media_attachments/files/115/804/962/460/069/983/original/a62e5b190034a039.jpg https://cdn.masto.host/craftgoblinclub/media_attachments/files/115/804/962/530/393/244/original/ce61d5e8585713d4.jpg npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth Bag 2: more floors, pizza oven, stage with a drummer and an unmanned saxophone, and a toilet https://cdn.masto.host/craftgoblinclub/media_attachments/files/115/804/665/622/702/770/original/b135ba5a92645e1e.jpg npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth my work desk is in the hallway at the top of the stairs, and next to the desk I managed to squeeze in a cupboard/shelf combo (ikea eket), my ink lives there along with a lot of related stuff. So that's half the inks meh, and from the ones I liked several exist as almost identical inks in the Inkvent calendar, maybe most clearly illustrated by winter wonderland and myrrh the merrier, which are very similar. I also pulled the swatch card from Celestial skies, but thats more blue and also has gold shimmer rather than blue/teal, and is maybe more closely related to the dark blue Frostbite 2/2 https://cdn.masto.host/craftgoblinclub/media_attachments/files/115/781/068/471/634/690/original/461ee6e4b65d5dd3.jpg npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth #Inkvent / #Colorvent wrapup. This is from memory and I might return with more thoughts later. The Diamine Calendar was half the price of the Colorvent and had far more variety. I also feel like there's more inks I'll use, with more bright colours and a lot less black/rust red. The pigment inks are meh to me, and the scented ink is thrown out, but that's still a lot of inks, especially if I'll find use for the sheeners in calligraphy etc. 1/2 npub17n74d49mpq4hhs4mjtv822hvv2surlc0pftv5lc5fhxu6e37af5qdpllql StarSloth Diamine #Inkvent 25 Myrrh the Merrier A teal ink with red sheen and blue shimmer — Wait. Deja vu. Didn't we do this yesterday? So the two calendars end on a very similar note. The Diamine version has blue shimmer rather than teal, and a stronger sheen. The chromatography is cyan and a little green, too. I prefer the one with less sheen, but both are nice. #DagensTerjeVigen 47/34-English Thus ends my foray into Terje Vigen, to everyone's relief? This is definitely the high point for me so far! It was the perfect match for my Platinum Biso, and with the medium nib it writes beautifully. The Biso, for the record, seems to write far more wetly than a preppy type nib in medium, and also wetter than my medium 3776. Is bittersweet a wet ink to give me that impression?
