Gov. Gregg Abbot of Texas has used his influence to halt social events in Texas for non white nationalist groups.
First, a Drag show in Arlington last month lost their venue when someone heard about it and called Abbot. Suddenly their venue was double booked though they had scheduled months in advance.
Also an Eid event at a Waterpark in Grand Prairie was canceled when Abbot threatened to pull state money if they held it.
The organizer was threatened.

So Hierarchy is important. Equality does not allow one group to dominate another. By being lenient to one group and harsh to another, they keep the first group quiet as they are being favored.
Hierarchy allows those who feel power to accept substitutes to power to feel good.

Ceres had themes of sexual exploitation where a cabal of men robbed a woman's celestial powers, and would kill rather than let her descendants know their own strength.
In Pursuit of Jade, the male lead hides his strength and lets his wife protect him until he recovers.
The princess in love with the scholar is meant to be a mirror of this, but it fails to have the same punch. She does not seem very powerful to me.
I think the fan appeal is the male trusting and respecting his wife.

The podcasters called Pursuit of Jade a sky maiden story.
Ayashi no Ceres is the sky maiden story I knew, and it was dark.
From the author of Fusigii Yuugi.
This story is much brighter, but it makes me wonder how much gender affects stories like this.
In Ceres a sky maiden came to Earth to bathe and took off her winged Hagoromo and a man stole it. She couldn't return to the heavens so she married the man.
A similar story was the animation the Song of the sea where the mother was a Selkie.

Enjoyed listening to this podcast (What the fiction) talking about the #cdrama Pursuit of Jade.
They talked about the story influences that led to this plot. Even native American folklore.
So impressed to think of this as a reverse Sky maiden story where instead of a maiden falling to Earth, the general falls and gets caught. Also he is a sleeping beauty with his disability.
She rules with her strength.

One of my favorite moments in Pursuit of Jade (#cdrama )is when the have this super romantic moment kissing by a window.
Then later they have an epilogue and show the people eating dinner inside watching the free show. LOL.

The series feels really light. A marriage of convenience. A Cinderella story of sorts. Light!
But it is only when things look to fall apart that you realize how precious it has been.

First, know what you are going to do if someone completes all of the labs early and has no work for part of the year. What will admin say?
Then know what you are going to do for people who won't do work in class, and run out of time.
I once spent a week having my students make lotion according to a recipe. They showed me the results and their modifications and got to take the results home in bottles.
One group was excited that their lotion smelled like bacon. We discussed marketability.

Years ago, it was noticed that chlorofluorocarbons in aerosol sprays were aiding in the depletion of the ozone layer, and a hole was detected in this protective layer. Just finishing my no phone day.
After I made the above posts I put my phone on the charger. This was not a no internet day. I posted on the laptop, but it has a full size keyboard allowing me to post long form and I started a new project and talked to LOADS of new people.
When I reached for my phone to read, I stopped and finished a book that I have been reading off and on for the last 3 years, and I finished it.
Overall the NO PHONE day was a success.

When people use AI to insert fake information into the data you depend on for your life, they are putting bad code in your brain. Great way to gaslight if they can modify the things that you use for your day to day life.
It's hard to even know what your brain is outsourcing! I'm trying a no-phone day. When I find myself reaching for my phone, I'll ask why.
How else could I get this information?
Is this something I should have learned? Could I be controlled if someone altered this?

I woke up this morning thinking of being a cyborg. We all are, because we outsource some of our memory to our phone. How many of you know your work phone number? How many of you know your own phone number? Why learn it when the phone knows it?
I had a computer die recently, and the worst part is loosing all of the passwords that I never memorized because of the password holder.
And we use it to tell time, to find our way around, to identify things. We are cyborg already.

I think the #fediverse needs a safety net.
We started from the bottom up with developers creating things themselves and others adopting it, but this makes us susceptible to bad agents.
With a single developer, there is a clear point of attack. Also, the individuals running instances can run out of money.
We should have a non-profit that will pay for server fees when moderators are short on cash to keep the network up.
We should have a site that tells us when vital programs go down.

2025 GOALS
1. BE CHILL
Anxiety was killing me at the end of this year hurting my gut, and messing with my mind, muscles, and joints. I will prioritize a restful mind.
2. DEFEND MY PERSONAL TIME
Last year I got basically no writing done because I spent my personal time destressing from work. Put personal time on schedule, and don't budge.
3. CARE FOR MYSELF
Instead of trying to be thinner or prettier I will treat my body, mind, and soul as something I love, and take good care of it.

2024 GOALS:
1. Fear Less
So much bad stuff happens because people are afraid. Take chances and don't worry so much about the consequences.
2. Make my body stronger
This isn't about weight. This is about more muscle and less fat on my belly.
3. Make time serve me
I can't control some things, but I know I need cool down time, so plan it into my schedule at the beginning of the year. Also plan in exercise and writing time. Don't make it an extra. It is essential.
