Wow, I gotta say I’m a bit baffled.
Disagreements aside it is a bit harsh to wish someone gets burned whilst holding BTC. It wouldn’t inspire trust and improve adoption of BTC, similar to the Coldcard debacle.
I wouldn’t have expected such a wish from a BTC OG as yourself. Keeping the disagreements civil and and within tjhe bounds of BTC consensus should be enough.
I don’t agree and the ”experts” concept either, respectfully.
Regardless of the expertise level people make mistakes and so called expert have biases and personal interests.
Keeping one’s wits and making up one’s mind based on broader social signals and not an expert’s sole opinion surely is a sounder way to do things.
In a world where information is abundant and ”experts” gladly promote for clicks, it is imo a sounder approach to increase the broadband of information and expertise from both sides of the rift.
When I do though read you wish people got financially hurt because of a different opinion, it doesn’t help you winning points in my book

Who got burned by BIP-110?
And do you mean one shouldn’t keep one’s ear to ground for social signals but rather listen to ”experts” instead?

Sad day for all who’ve lost sats from their Coldcards.
Equally sad day for bitcoin self custody as one realizes the pitfalls of self custody and the fragile trust in it.
I would imagine Coinkite is not happy either.

Awsome doc on swedish central bank, QE, monetary policy, swedish economy and so on.
Weirdly it is not shown in Sweden but on franco-german public service.

Globalization failed on account of organized, militarized states finding it easier to fight rather than accept increased competition with each other. That because of short term, local political interests.
With decentralized Bitcoin, competition and globalization can happen between individuals, hence the risk of wars should diminish in the long run.

This is the problem, for now.

So Putin gets Ukraine, Trump grabs Venezuela and Xi gets ready to subdue Taiwan. Is this part of a three way deal between dictators?
A new Yalta type deal amongst the strongest militarily?
Sure looks like it.
Trump can’t show off his might against China or Russia but Venezuela was a cheap target to show off military might.
And grab some oil in the process.
I guess the nuclear race will soon be on, as everyone is eye-balling North Korea showing off the only functioning deterrence.
Good thing Europe prioritized investment on new bottle caps, that was prio

They lost the deal with Saudi Arabia, under it oil could’ve only be sold for dollars. Saudi still didn’t sign a new one.
As such US want to controll the oil reserves hence keeping the dollar’s domination by controlling the oil trade.

I got a hunch it would’ve been sounder to invest in BTC instead of beach front property in the otherwise nice city of Tel Aviv

We’re moving towards a future where rentals will be the norm.
Partly because it is a more efficient form of living partly because the gig economy will need to have people mobile.
In terms of efficiency it is clear that a property owner will have better pricing for consumables as well as better incentives to maintain the building. Downside of this is that it’ll be easier to centralize control over a number of owner, from the authorities pov.
Tenants will then choose the best choice for them and will have the freedom to afford a summer house, for example.
Landlord will then decide whether he needs to focus on profits or service quality, based on his or hers conditions.
Tenants skip the stress to owning and maintaining a property which has become almost a part time job, full time in some cases.
Can’t wait for this to come about😊

Watching the US election from a distance, a lot to learn.
What’s striking to me is the low IQ level of the political debate.
I guess the assumption is that americans would be swayed by the celebrities experts on both side of the scale.
I hope, for the world’s sake that they don’t.
I can’t swear by it but I wouldn’t imagine J. Lo or Pappy Diddy sitting there, pen in hand, doing their taxes or assessing geo-politics matters.
Yet celebrities are the ones out speaking for their respective muppet.
No professors, doctors, engineers, intellectuals and so forth on the stage but rather just dancing and singing prominents.
And your odd business tycoon, EM, with an obvious eye on lucrative future gov. deals intertwined with a healthy preservation instinct.
So all the ingredients for a shitshow, a telenovella which affects the whole world.
Hope for all’s sake that americans smarten upp soon, no matter which muppet they choose.
The real matter is the IQ of the elections, the education, mentality and skills of a society choosing their leader.
Chosen mupp can only be a reflection of the society which chose it.
Right now, it looks bleak to me.
End of rant

Prime example of finding inroads into the minds of family and friends to get them to at least start comprehending BTC. Every different person have their own interests, biases and incentives. Even moms😂

Started with Italy, now Denmark and soon the whole EU.
Rising value of Bitcoin puts the spotlight on it.
A good revenue stream for the ever cash strapped EU countries with stagnant economies and increasing costs, specially on the defense side.
It was bound to happen, sooner or later.

A bit of a long post, and possibly controversial too.
I ponder for a couple of days wether I should write it or not.
The spat between Mr Musk and Brazil as well as the online reaction is interesting to me.
Now, don’t get mad, I’m only throwing some thoughts out there, I’ve got no agenda and no conviction on the matter.
Free speach is important but a few thing nag me about the whole situation.
I haven’t seen any news/ reports about massive demonstration in favour of X in Brazil. It seems like the internet community is more outraged about it than the directly affected brazilian people.
If X brings such value to them, they would surely react somehow.
Wasn’t Mr Musk accomodating India’s Modis requests about Twitter, not so long ago?
And wasn’t he in China just this year?
Not really bastions of free speach, neither of them.
Yet not much backlash online about these countries, as I recall.
It seems to me Mr Musk has clearly taken a political stance this year and there seems to be an axis between Trump, Modi, and Xi.
Wasn’t Mr Musk helping Bolsonaros gov in Brazil with Starlink, a few years ago?
Isn’t it strange that this feud online serves well to portray the brazilian gov as a supressor of the freedom of speach? Brazil is a BRICS country with a left leaning gov after somewhat contested election.
Don’t shout at me.
Just trying to understand what’s behind the curtain.
Mr. Musk didn’t seem to take the same kind of stand against India or China, why Brazil?
And why now? The spat has been going on for some time.
Is X piggy backing a bit on the wake of Durov’s arrest and using the online outcry that was created to pressure the brazilian gov?
Got no skin in the game, just hugely courious about the ways of the world.
Also think higly of Nostr, hence this honest post.
Happy to read replies but not to receive verbal agression.
Cheers
