My main objection to the youtube Simarillion version of 'We didn't start the fire' is that it is from the Noldor's perspective
AND THEY DID IN FACT FUCKING START THE GODDAMN FIRE

It is a universal human experience that everyone - not just queer people - will have to restart their lives from scratch at some point.
Jobs end. College degrees turn out to no longer be useful, or that it was never what you wanted to do. People find out they were not who they thought they were.
Life is growth and adaptability and change. And this is why queer stories are universal. Everyone goes through reinvention.
Where some stories take it a step farther - and you see this in trans stories (but also in the traumatized and neurodivergent) - in some lives people never know who they were in the first place.
How do you restart when you've never known who you were? How do you figure that out?
So this is why, I think, cis people should study queer literature. This is a skill all queers (and especially trans people) have to learn very well.
And in our fascist society, they fundamentally don't want you to figure out who you are. That is not a skill they value, they who want to fit you in a box of white anglo-saxon protestant facists personhood.
Contrast that. I had a "straight" friend who was considering if he might be nonbinary. He tried out pronouns in gaming. (subtly, he played a few enby characters.)
He decided he was a bisexual man who wanted to try drag, but was cis, and happy with his wife. I'm very happy for him. He found himself. Via tabletop gaming.
I just...I think queer experiences have a lot to offer a world, and that is a big part of why power hates us.
There's a reason queers tend to want to dismantle systemic oppression. Why being queer in authoritarian countries is in many cases worse than anything else you can do.
Look at the USA - being trans is considered worse than being a pedophile; the Republicans have regulated being trans INTO THE GROUND, but have done almost nothing about rampant child sexual abuse in the public eye.
In every authoritarian country, they go after queerness before they even go after political dissidents. They target us first, and this has been true for literally centuries, perhaps millenia, if you believe the Exaltation of Inanna.
I dunno. I think there are aspects of queerness with a lot to teach straight people. If they want to listen.

anyone know any companies that sell cool trans t-shirts with cool designs and punk slogans? I see a lot of patches with screen printed stuff on them by trans people, very clever.
what about shirts?

I would like to apologize to every Black leftist that ever fucking told me this country needed a revolution not a reformation.
It's been a few years since I thought that we could fix it, but...HOLY FUCKING SHIT.
If we take one lesson from the genocide, from the threatening nuclear war, from the literal concentration camps:
No system which produces this can be tolerated. Period. At all. For any reason. It can only be destroyed.
I don't care if he's just blustering. I don't care.
Burn it all down.

Okay I need another instance, at least.
Can anyone suggest one?
Requirements:
1. Queer-focused
2. Not tech.lgbtq, those evil racist bastards.
3. ideally not absurdly horny
4. other trans people are a plus.

Remember not to follow Pink News!
Not only is it owns by corporate asses, but apparently they are getting ready to move to an AI only newsroom....
Apparently the owners management have also been accused of sexual harassment and have been recorded disparaging transgender people as hurting their profits.

It is 222 A.D. You are the transgender Empress Elagabalus, "call me not a man for I am a woman". Transitioning is new and experimental.
It is 1776. You are "Public Universal Friend", a transmasculine Quaker. Transitioning is new and experimental.
It is 1906. You are Karl M. Baer, a trans man undergoing sex reassignment. Transitioning is new and experimental.
It is 1930. You are Lili Elbe. Transitioning is new and experimental. (to be fair you did get a uterus transplant.)
It is 1966. You are in Compton's Cafeteria with a bunch of other trans people when the owners call the cops to throw you all out. You riot. Transitioning is new and experimental.
It is 1969. You are Marsha "pay it no mind" Johnson. You are in a mob-run gay bar when the cops attack. You throw a brick. There is a bit of a scuffle. Transitioning is new and experimental.
It is 2026. You are a transgender adult or child listening to the NYT and British Guardian claim this is the first generation anyone has tried transitioning in. Transitioning is new and experimental.

So my therapist sent this to me a year ago.
I have a lot of insecurity about my looks. Honestly I really hated the advice at the time.
It's taken me a while to appreciate it but... Frankly I think this is some of the better advice I've seen. I will never feel good about my looks.
But I can stop worrying about it? I don't know how to explain it better. It took a while but I think this is really really good advice for other trans women.
Honestly I think this woman has great content in general for us. Her target is cis women, and she assumes they like men but like.... The fuck-off attitude really honestly is like peak womanhood as far as I'm concerned.
I've actually added her to my list of transition inspirations.

So this is kind of a long shot but:
Are there any like queer discord communities that specifically practice Buddhism or meditation? Like not something with like a million people but like something more modest and more queer centered.

Can anyone recommend a good app that's like a dating app but specifically for making friends? I'm trying to find other trans people who want to be friends and hang out because... I'm in the middle of nowhere.

I think, perhaps, it's not too much to demand a world we can live in.
“I have love in me the likes of which you can scarcely imagine and rage the likes of which you would not believe. If I cannot satisfy the one, I will indulge the other.” - The Creature, Frankenstein, (1994 version).
Happy Trans Day of Rememberance.

There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved.
— Charles Darwin, On the Origin of Species

Its wierd though, I can say 'well I need to learn to be happy and enjoy life and take care of myself, its what my cat would want'.
And its true.

So, I'm doing a mutual aid request to help with my gender affirming surgery (my orchi). I've had to double my anticipated hotel stay, and finances for this were already tight as generally speaking I'm on a single income living paycheck to paycheck.
It's NOT the end of the world, so don't feel obligated, but it would be nice to not worry about other bills later, or putting things on a card, or rationing what we eat. Mostly, I'm hoping to make up the difference between what I planned for (last night to be my last night here) and the reality: which is I'll be in this hotel at least until Wednesday, assuming the doctor takes out this drainage port then. I don't actually know for sure. And that makes it rather hard to plan. And kind of scary.
I got a good deal on the hotel, and the orchi itself is paid for, (I think), so really I'm just hoping for a little bit to make up that gap.
Anything is appreciated. I am @secretfire42 on Venmo (Charlotte Eowyn Guyton), and my spouses PayPal is [email protected]
Thank you.

Have you tried turning all the billionaires off and then never turning them back on again?

Here's your morning reminder that 'ancestry' DNA tests are inherently racist and based on bullshit eugenics and not science.
There's no Latino gene. There's no English gene. No Irish gene. No French gene.
Its eugenics, babe. That's all they are.

Ok I have a weird question.
....what dating app would be most useful for finding queers to form a DND group with?
I found a younger trans man who wants to play DND in my area but could use a few more queers.
The only thing I can think of, other than posting to the whole towns Facebook page, is a dating app.

2024-08-26 02:14:28 GMT

It is absolutely f****** wild to come out as queer and slowly build a new life and learn that not only are there other people who want to talk to you and be your friend, but that maybe, just maybe, it wasn't your fault you were so alone in the first place.
