Rob of Nuar

This is something that was posted by one the talented Iranian devs that I know:
“For the past 72 hours, I’ve had no contact with my friends, my family, or anyone inside Iran.
No internet. No phone calls. No SMS. Nothing.
A complete blackout.
If you have ever lived in a brutal dictatorship, you never ever understand what I mean! 😢
Meanwhile, reports indicate many people have been killed, civilians demanding their basic rights, on their own soil, and yet the world is largely silent.
Which brings me to a question I can’t ignore anymore:
Where are the activists now?
Where are the loud voices who filled every platform with posts, stories, and outrage for Gaza?
Why are so many of them suddenly silent?
When one person bleeds in Gaza, the world erupts, protests, hashtags, careers built overnight.
But when thousands are killed under a 72-hour blackout, with no media, no internet, and no voice… we get almost nothing.
So I ask honestly:
Is this what “human rights” means today?
Is this justice, or selective outrage?
I’ve reached a painful conclusion:
Much of what we call international human rights activism has become performative.
A machine for visibility, influence, and profit, not a universal moral stand.
Many self-described activists speak loudly only when it benefits their image, audience, or alignment. Silence, it seems, is acceptable when the victims don’t fit the narrative.
Human rights are not a brand.
Justice is not regional.
And suffering is not a marketing strategy.
If we only care when it’s trending, then we don’t care at all.

I do not seek to be anonymous. I just want my name and my software to be separate entities having separate lives. My dangerous self can keep up with shit, my software ideas… well they are on the edge sometimes.

Unfortunately he is probably with the government. He has way too much freedom for a person ‘displeasing’ the system. It is Russia, no big business there is truly independent.

I wonder if EU would ever start targeting devs. I think we are way too liberal at least for now. As for the service providers, yaeh, there will be many unpleasant things coming soon.

I bet invented personalities could be the only answer. Satoshi is not probably in jail but I assume many would try to hunt them down just for the idea alone. And this is awful.

Today I learned that open source software can land you a jail sentence. I am in shock and sadness. And yes, pseudonymity is a way to protect yourself from the government mood-swings.

What if we have Kafka or other dumb pub sub in between all relays. Each relays can become an agregator in a blink of an eye. Yes, single point of failure, but no censorship.

Oh, ok. This is super-slippery and evasive. But the main Idea is that TRUST is subjective. So we we have to measure trust from each persons perspective rather than give universal rating. Tecnology-wise it’s a graph database + embeddings to find similarities and opposites. Bots will talk to bots, scammers will talk to scammers if this works. Right voice, no shadowbans or trolls. Is this evil?

Fair. But I am a dev, so I like not to trust someone else’s algorithms to analyze my data. I am unaware of a tracker that would give all data without sending that to apple/google. You get some you loose some, unfortunately.

Ah! I’ve got the apple one last year. €€€ and only does the basics :/ OraRing the same. If I would buy today I would go Garmin. You want to track sleep, HRV, resting heart rate. Other params depends on how well you manage you sleep and food. Just make sure it syncs data with apple health or google health, you will that me later ,)
